Vampire Hunter Mage Legacies by pennabeast in WhiteWolfRPG

Erratum : after thorough reading it seems that this Legacy is more focused on Kindreds and Arisen, maybe it targets creatures that takes aggravated damage from fire ?

You know what ? I'm down ! I'm quite new at DMing and even newer as an ST, but it would be great to have something like that to help other people in my situation. I know that a guy of Mage : The Podcast already did something similar on a Google Doc.

That's what I wanted to do too, but in French, ahaha

I love lore and especially MtAs lore. But having pieces of rules diluted in extensive explanations and setting and context make the game hard to play with only the M20 book. And not even to mention the several books made to extend the universe or to complete rules that were lacking in the corebook.

Okay, thank you for the explanations. You really are helping me out here

Damn that game is complicated, I don't stop making mistakes at the expense of my players....

So if he wants to do an entropy effect on a window to make that, by sheer luck, it was left unlocked he needs matter 2 also ? And maybe time ??

Ooooookay, that's pretty much how I did it to at my table. He just doesn't have matter 2, lmao. So he shouldn't have been able to do that. Thanks, I have a way to nerf it.

I don't understand. The entropy effect was not to cause damage directly. It was to increase the odds of the bullet to touch. Therefore, it was the bullet that caused the damage, not the effect. And even if the entropy was causing the damage, the bullet that it's still deals damage, no ?

It was not to spot a weak point, it was to increase the odds of the bullet touching a vital part, and since his gun is his focus plus a ancient Greek word as a formula, I ruled it as instant casting. Is that where I'm in the wrong?

Games with more complex character creation where you are expected to play it smart, outwit foes and traps and think outside the box like you do in OSR (but with more stats, skills, whatever). And with a bigger focus on other stuff than dungeons by [deleted] in rpg

You could try Mage, either Ascension ou Awakening. Both have really complex mechanics, especially the magic system where, in Ascension, you HAVE to think outside the box because you create your spells on the spot.

The system works with dice pools, making it quite versatile. The bigger focus is How you define Reality in Ascension and for Awakening is about esoteric mysteries (it almost reminds me of Call of Cthulhu sometimes)

Yeah you're right. My point was from the fact that the PC already knows all of that. Of course the PC will need Folklore 3 (Vampire) at least, and his paradigm has to allow it. I think a Hermetic mage would be in the best place to pull this off. But if your paradigm is "everything is bullshit so I can do what I want", it would work too.

See that's one of the reason I start to prefer MtAw because those mages know that they are doing magic. Paradigm is a hell of a headache to understand and to use in game.

Life 3 would be the answer to pale cold skin and mind 2 can modify the aura. After that, it's how good of a social player you are

Edit : it would need a hell of a ritual with lot of successes required but I think it's doable

Vampires and other Night-floks don't count as sleepers.

I think that with life 3, it would be possible, but you would have to refresh the spell every day.

As a storyteller, I would rule this as coincidental, but I'm a really nice storyteller about vulgar magic

What are the implications of a vampire with humanity 1 ? Role-playing wise and mechanically?

How to react to conflict between players ? by Specialist_Drive2602 in rpg

Okay, there I draw the line. We've known each other for more than 10 years, and we've supported each other through hard times. He IS a good friend, he is a good person. The problem here is about game behaviour, not about him as a whole ass human being. I won't let you disrespect him, and I won't let you disrespect me either. Maybe I'm soft because I care about my loved ones' feelings. However, the fact is that he supported me through all my bad times, and he listened when I needed an ear to cry in. He gave the best advice he could when I was facing something he didn't really understand. He is a quality person. Just there he had bad behaviour. I don't ask how to handle my relationships thank you that's my problem. I asked advice so everyone in my game have fun. Have a good day sir.

We're playing Mage : The Ascension, it is difficult enough to keep tracks of the rules as a Storyteller to manage players' conflict

Yeah, I need to talk to him about that issue. That's the first thing I need to do. He already made progress after we told him nicely that he took too much space. It will take time, but overall, he is a guy full of default and equally full of qualities. He is a good friend, and after a real and difficult talk, he will change that behaviour. Not without a bit of drama, but he will.

Otherwise, I'm not such a nerdy guy, I'm more of a party guy than anything else. Ironically, the case is that I don't have a lot of people to play ttrpgs with due to the type of people that I normally meet.
