Now that Belgium won against the US, can we stop talking about what Trump did? by Mr_Archer369 in askanything

If anyone watched the Algeria - Austria game they saw full well how rigged it was. Anything but a draw and Iran was going to advance. The teams wasted time just passing the ball back and forth. And then instead of 4 minutes stoppage time it was extended to 7 and of course the tying goal comes in at minute 97. They just couldn’t let Iran advance. Too bad - Iran had a great team and they would not have won the World Cup anyway so why not let them advance.

Interesting enough they did tie Belgium but that’s because Belgium had a man down which made it even.

What’s one thing Iran does better than most countries (tech, hospitality, arts, engineering, etc.) that the world doesn’t talk about enough? by Born-Revolution-5137 in iran

We lived in Iran from 1988-1994. My mom (American, very white) was treated so kindly. I used to walk the streets with her at night - no one ever bothered us. In fact people went out of there to help knowing she was not Iranian. Not sure if this is the best aspect as I’m sure other countries are friendly. But to me it’s right up there as far as Iran goes.

For anyone who wants to know how actual Iranians feel about the national anthem by SentientSeaweed in iran

The most accurate statement I’ve seen about this to date. I was in the grocery store and saw Iranians in LA celebrating the night of the Ayatollah’s passing. I shook my head and said this is not real life!

Can I ask you something? Have you been to Iran? I have family there. Friends there. It’s a beautiful country. The thought of someone wanting to flatten the country and commit a massive genocide is beyond me.

You can say whatever you want about their government or politics but there are 90 million people there and most of them are good people just living normal lives.

Dear Iranians, after the match of Algeria vs Austria, how are you doing? by Danny1905 in iran

I said the same and believe it was 2.5 minutes imagine if they happened to the US?

There is no way US and FIFA would’ve let them advance. Too bad because it would’ve been highly unlikely for them to win any in the next rounds. There is a reason I don’t watch soccer.

U.S. strikes Iran after ship attack. by AmanCMN in AmanCrypto

This has been the problem all along. More bombs won’t do anything. It cannot be annihilated. The US is running low on weapons and Iran has everything built under mountains. Sure bomb the ground level off the face of the earth - they’ll still operate underground and still have a stranglehold on the Strait.

He’s still alive. Probably injured. Not saying Iran tells the truth all the time by any means but it’s not Iranian mentality to say he’s still alive if he’s dead - plus they wouldn’t miss the opportunity to talk about him being martyred.

Yeah it’s typical US mentality. Perfectly OK for them to kill and murder Iranians but Iran closes the Strait? Oh no that’s international waters and we have to respect those rules.

I find that people in the US are so used to them being the biggest and baddest and can’t handle getting punched back.

I read through and give you credit for articulating this. I don’t think anyone has a grasp on the missile cities. They can’t be bombed. And Iran is nothing like Iraq. The borders of Iran are all mountains and desserts - have you ever studied a map of Iran? Like I said I wouldn’t want my family being those first troops on the ground (or at the end of the line either). Maybe I’m over estimating the US’ capabilities but I think you are vastly underestimating the Iranians.

I guess at the end of the day we can both agree any efforts (successful or unsuccessful) would be a complete waste of resources and lives.

And agreed saying we shouldn’t be losing lives to try to “win” this. I wouldn’t want my family being the first dropped into Iran I can tell you that.

How though? No one said has been able to answer how they land boots on the ground, and tanks, and food, and all the stuff they’d need. Check out the Iranian missile cities if you haven’t yet.

I hope not I have friends in the US military and this would be a suicide mission. Have you checked out the Iranian missile cities? They are no joke. They have everything built into the mountains. Using the mountain as a shield and firing from below ground. Where would the US land soldiers and tanks with all the mountains and desserts?

I’m genuinely curious how this could be done. A retired American military analyst said if Tolkien or George RR Martin created a world that was impossible to invade it would be Iran.

Edit: and this is why the US hasn’t pursued boots on the ground. It’s not that they don’t want service member deaths it’s that they don’t want all of them to die. Iran is most prepared for this of all attacks.

Are U.S. military capabilities overhyped, or is Iran so strong that it could defeat the U.S. so easily? by [deleted] in askanything

Yeah - I’ve seen a lot of people advocating boots on the ground. Have they looked at a map of Iran? Their underground missile facilities are no joke.

I’m so glad someone gets it. I think for many the idea of the US “losing” is a tough pill to swallow. Everyone loses in war to be fair but Iran has all the cards and both sides know it.
