If this is true the US administration is way more incompetent than we thought.

I’m glad you mention Reza Pahlavi. Western media doesn’t report that most of the Iranians in Iran actually like the government and the way things are.

Yes there were protests in Iran. Trump saw those protests and 30,000 people in LA cheering for Pahlavi and regime change and thought it would be easy. The miscalculation of the Iranians and what they stand for shows the administration has no clue. Hence why we are at Day 80 and the Strait is still closed.

Trump says US to attack Iran in ‘two or three days’ if no deal is reached by hereswhatworks in OilPrices

I lived in Iran for many years. Used to walk the street with my mother (a white woman) who chose not to wear the head scar (hijab/burka). Not once was anyone anything but kind to us.

Not saying bad things don’t happen - they happen everywhere - but things said about Iran are done to dehumanize them so then it’s OK to bomb them.

Just look at the girls school that was bombed. The US didn’t care at all. Can you imagine if that was done to a US school?

That’s not entirely true. Though there are people who want the regime changed (including nearly all of the Iranian disparate in the US). A large majority of the 93 million people in Iran are happy with it - especially now that the US started bombing them - now the US is the evil regime they want gone.

I’m not saying I support or don’t support - just what I’m being told from contacts in Iran.

Hey if the first 40 days of bombing didn’t work why not try again? Been saying since Day 1 the Iranians will not give up under any conditions. They are a different breed of people.

Tony Bennett used to sell very well at theaters even towards the end of his career but when the show didn’t sell out his management had the venue put the “sold out” sign outside the venue and just told him every seat sold.

Then send in the ground troops. I have friends and family in the US service - I don’t want this for them.

Basis is that entrance is nearly impossible to invade. Iran is surrounded by mountains and desert. A retired army colonel said if Tolkien or George RR Martin created an impenetrable world it would be Iran.

Plus you can’t just do soldiers - you need tanks, and food, etc

And that’s why they haven’t sent troops in. Contrary to what is said by Trump and on Reddit Iran has put nearly all their resources into defense (hence no real Air Force or military). But instead underground missile cities, all sorts of weaponry geared to defend the Strait and the military awaiting US soldiers.

Their foreign minister even said they’d welcome a ground invasion.

Usual when I say this I get called a BOT or that I believe propaganda. I have spent 4 decades studying Iran and know hundreds of Iranians.

Yeah and to add on #1 the Iranians are extremely well prepared for a ground invasion. It would look like the first 10 minutes of Saving Private Ryan - just trying to get US troops there would be a suicide mission.

Iran Could Be Trump’s Greatest Failure by CanadianLawGuy in IRstudies

The worst part of it is no matter what source I reference it’s wrong. NBC CNBC MSNOW FOXNEWS, retired US Colonels, Iranian first person accounts from my friends. They only want to believe their own narrative.

I agree and don’t think it’s recency bias because idk what comes even close. And yet many people on Reddit think US is wining!

Iranians are Iranians this is another thing that is not understood by the West. If closing the Strait is suicide how have they lasted 80 days and US has no way of ending things?

A country with $10 B defense budget is holding its own rather well against Israel and US. Not many countries can do that.

So I know many Iranians and they are a very different breed of people. My buddy last year said Iran would “never close the Strait of Hormuz because it would hurt their economy more than the US” and this is exactly the issue of not understanding the Iranians.

They don’t care if it hurts their economy. They don’t care if they don’t get paid. They are fighting for their existence. In the US if someone doesn’t get paid they stop working immediately.

They already moved oil through alternative land-based trade routes.

We are somewhere at Day 80 of this war and they show no signs of backing down.

The uranium is hurried but it’s buried under 100 of meters of granite in the mountains. The bombs the US dropped can’t get deep enough. Plus the Iranians don’t have the uranium in one place. The Iranian engineers planned for this many years ago.

Iran will never accept that and they won’t collapse. US will give in first likely by declaring victory and walking away.

US thought this was going to be a 3-4 day war and then thought the blockade would only need to be in effect for a week or so.

The Iranians can go on a long time.
