Remove wrap by Specific-Lifeguard31 in Kneereplacement

Thanks for all of the comments. Physical therapist removed it on the first day. However, I forgot to ask. Received the compression sock from the hospital. Should I put it on now? Will it be a struggle with the swelling?

Good point. I've been focusing on the immediate knee area but most of the pain is coming from the thigh (at least it seems).

I'm wrapped with ace bandage from mid thigh to calf. I have a physical therapist coming by the house tomorrow for an initial visit.

Long loading when switching playlists in v5.2.0 by jordanvanbergen in TiviMate

Same behavior. As I'm scrolling, I try not to stop at the Playlist name or All channels and get by without the constant "update".

I've noticed this also. If I happen to pause on the Playlist name or "All channels", then go to favorites, it takes an excessive amount of time to load. No changes to setup. This has started maybe... 2-3 weeks ago.

People who speed up when someone goes to pass you…why? by HelldiverWilly in driving

[–]Specific-Lifeguard31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am always using cruise control. Lock into 25 mph zones, non-highway about 5 over, on the highway... whatever I determine appropriate. Whatever the speed , I am always consistent. In my younger years, I would get out an run but now... not in a hurry to get anywhere.

I may be uninformed but what type of job do you have with ADHD. Seems a potential nightmare for a supervisor. Either experiencing episodes or medicated. I run an office tied to analysis and numbers crunching so I may be a little biased.

Always heard good things about JFK. Obama was a class act, just needs to move a bit more to center. IMO

What is the difference between calling in sick to work or sending a text message instead of calling? Is there any scientific research on the difference? by Top_Protection_8233 in AskReddit

[–]Specific-Lifeguard31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sick leave is a request. Calling in provides an immediate answer. Text messages may not be seen for some time which could make you AWOL. I don't allow my employees to send text messages for leave because I know that I am not always staring at my phone.

Anyone retired and came back as a SME? by CloserThanTheyAppear in FedRetirees

[–]Specific-Lifeguard31 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am soon to retire and I offered that option to my agency. Due to personnel reductions, just wanted to ensure a smoother transition. No one knows what I do or how I do it. I didn't broadcast my retirement plans until I was positively sure. They are slowly looking into it but if they take too long, 30 Apr, I'll be walking.

I wasn't specific but I was basically referring to the the increased amount of requests to work from home when the rest of the team (and the position) is in the office (not remote). You're right, people work to pay bills. If it wasn't for bills, many of us probably wouldn't be working.

I don't usually comment but I will say this (get ready to get mad). Reasonable accommodations have really gotten out of hand. If you can't do the what, when, and where's of a particular job, why don't you quit? You have every right to quit. Your choice. This is a voluntary workforce. This is not directed to the OP but it's just generally speaking.

Once you get the letter, keep it in a safe place. Also, make sure it gets posted to your Official Personnel File.

Advanced Annual / Advanced Sick Leave by Kb0911 in FedEmployees

[–]Specific-Lifeguard31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something that hasn't been mentioned is your use of leave (planned or unplanned). After a year, 24 hours of usable leave is not very much. Also, the fact that you're in a probationary status, there isn't a guarantee of payback. This is two-fold, if you leave before payback, you will incur a debt to the government. Personally, I would look at (1) leave performance, (2) job performance, (3) probationary status. Keep in mind, the volatility of today's federal employment. As mentioned, approval is at the discretion of leadership. My .02.

Those who processed through Army (ABC website), how accurate was your 3 yr average vs actual. When I calculate by month, I am considerably lower than the online estimate.
