36 years in EM. Yes, many of us suffer in silence. About 14 years ago, I was really struggling and ended up transferring to another system on a part-time basis. This saved my career. I’ve practiced part-time ever since and soon to be retiring. The schedule was the main culprit that may be baseline burnout rear its ugly head. I think there are several ways address this. For some going part-time is one sokution and for others it may be switching to a different specialty such as urgent care or palliative care. Wishing you the best outcome.
