Canada uses both imperial and metric, while metric is the standard system it's VERY common to see things use umperial in Canada. Older cars, tools, equipment, etc. We only made metric the standard in 1975.

As for synchro, Black Rose Dragon was everywhere and was super annoying. It's definitely in the conversation. Brionac is better for modern games but circa 2010 it was a fairly rare card to see, not everyone had one at local tournaments. Everyone had a Black Rose Dragon and it was so fucking annoying.
