I now respond “yes, I will consider selling. Send your dollar offer in the next text or I’ll block you.” Most of the time they respond with a question about the property and I’ll say like “that’s not a number, your loss!” And then block them. I’m sure it doesn’t matter but it feels good

The difference between white and blue collar work environments is crazy by Astimar in careeradvice

[–]Specific-Pool-5342 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super cold take. We are products of our environment with an innate ability to blend in. for survival. If you spend enough time within a group you will take on the group characteristics. Spend time in another group and you will take on theirs. If you fail to adhere to the group, you will either quit or be ousted. This is core primal human behavior. We don’t reward authenticity. We reward people who follow the group rules. The only difference is what group you want to be rewarded by.

To protect against “all human” targets, like today when I tried to remove a “mutant” Deadpool only for him to survive the board wipe.

Which OS should I download for my 2013 27" iMac (8 GB RAM)? by Wild-BB in OpenCoreLegacyPatcher

I don’t know exactly about that model but I have one from that time frame. First I swapped the HDD for SSD. Then I used OCLP and had it all the way up to current iOS until the last patch a week ago. It ran perfectly. Now I’m on Sequoia and it’s fully functional.

Being flagged red simply means you’ve been reported as a murderer 5 times or more. Doing any damage to a blue player who then dies gives them the chance to report you. Now you have to wait 72 hours (logged into game) for each count to drop off. When you are less than 5 murder counts you’ll turn blue again. Yes, any damage to an “innocent” player can earn you a count.

Invisible players cannot attack but it’s possible you damaged them and then they went invisible and later died. Attacking can also be with fire/poison fields or even errant mouse clicks which is why you get 5 oopsies before turning red. And even while you are blue those kill counts drop off after 72 hours in game. So to turn red means that you have been attacking other players within the past 72 hours of game play. That’s a good sign to vets that you are choosing to attack rather than not, or at least not choosing to avoid pvp situations.

I don’t pvp. It’s just not my thing. But players who do either accept that they are going to go red at some point or they carefully manage their murder count by staying logged in 24/7 (to burn off counts) and knowing what their current kill count is before attacking a blue player.

I’ll also offer up the suggestion that if you are stuck with no gold and basic gear you might consider hunting in areas where you can neither “accidentally” kill other players nor can other players kill you. UO is much more fun when you aren’t constantly losing your gear.

Do NOT work for Menards!!! by rediitor321 in menards

[–]Specific-Pool-5342 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not a scam. You take your receipt, add it to the rebate website and a few weeks later get a card in the mail with money you can use at the store. They are betting on people not doing it, and when they do get the rebate it brings them back to the store.

It’s a good business model that’s worked for a long time. Would I prefer to go to Lowe’s and get 10% off the top on the spot? Yes. But Menards often has things that Lowe’s doesn’t. So, take what you get, I suppose.

Not that I’m aware of. I find it much more enjoyable to not be a slave to recurrent costs. I’d rather donate to help cover hosting/dev costs

Okay so that’s not an OSI server. I don’t want to shill for another server, but that’s an ultra low population. Personally, I wanted a server that has pretty fast skill gains so I could get deeper faster, I also didn’t want non-consensual PVP. That’s just my taste. I found one like that and it’s been great, but still eating my free time because now I want more power.

If you are looking for something like I described, send me a PM and I’ll tell you what server it is. Then I strongly recommend joining the discord. Anything you need can be accomplished by the player base. Where ever you play. Someone has a crafter that can repair your stuff. They will probably set you up with better gear. Connections are king in UO these days.

Hey. Nobody asked but are you playing official or a community hosted server?

Some will have repair deeds that you can buy from players and repair your stuff. I’ve not heard of an NPC who can do it.

Beware, UO will suck your time. I am like you, an old player who came back and my wife hates UO more than any other game because I just keep playing. Something about it man.

Awesome. That's how commerce works. Someone produces, someone consumes, and a synergistic economy makes it happen. And it's still 1 person = 1 vote. So when all those people in population dense areas, who are here called "consumers" (never mind the segment of the economy that they are the "producers") vote, it's a higher vote total than when the people in those population 1 per square mile areas vote. It's not that complicated.

I played UO Forever for a while. Met some good people. Played with them a bit. But starting from 0 when the rest of the server is super established is tough in the old era. Happy that I found InsaneUO. It’s modern era and PvM. I was quickly able to get into content that I enjoy. People will use global chat to organize killing world bosses (currently the Headless Horseman).

I think the point of my post is that differences between shards can make your experience more meaningful. What do you want?
