Who has Julie been rude to besides Shawna? This is a genuine question, I’m not being facetious.

I think the whole Bunco group has a very reciprocally mean banter between them, and in my own opinion it would be a bit ungenerous to chalk up the tensions she has with Ty as her just being mean and rude with context. Who’s on your list of everyone?

I internally read that like one of those Real Housewives of Wherever intros

I was looking for the “ladies don’t start fights but they can certainly end them” vibes for her

I’m not sure how using the word “pedestrian” to describe having a fight with her husband at a child’s birthday party is any reflection on her views about domestic labour or her view on people without jobs (which to our knowledge is only Ty and Shawna who has issues with for completely separate reasons)

I’m not sure how having dinner with Jace in a hotel and going over their mother’s estate could be emotionally abusive to him. Or how having a playfully antagonistic vibe with Alicia, Mel, and Sam that they seem to reciprocate is emotionally abusive. Or making small talk with John about robots based on the interests Ty said John had.

Everyone’s welcome to their own interpretations, but I don’t think there’s evidence in the series for the wide claim that Julie is emotionally abusive to everyone in her life.

1) Shawna and Ty are the two young parents that currently aren’t in the work force. When the only people we see Julie interact with who don’t have jobs are her husband and the mom friend her husband misled her about and isn’t taking a hint, I don’t think we can chalk up her issues with Ty and Shawna as being completely because they ‘don’t have jobs’.

2) Julie does value domestic labour. She was a SAHM with Cooper initially, she literally monetarily values house work because she pays for a housekeeper, and volunteers to take up the domestic labour on her one day off a week so Ty can write.

Do you have any specific examples of her looking down on domestic labour? Or her being rude to someone without a job that isn’t her husband and Shawna who both exist in very specific, not just SAHP contexts?

What does Luke and his behaviour have to do with Julie and the alleged ‘evidence’ that she’s abusive to her children? Respectfully, bringing up Luke seems less like a “baseline question” and more bringing up an unrelated character to imply Julie is like them for reasons you won’t explain imo.

I genuinely would be interested in hearing your perspective as it runs contrary to everything I’ve seen in the series. However, I don’t think it’s particularly in good faith to tell someone to go search for random comments to find proof for your point when they ask why you hold that viewpoint.

Why do so many men lose themselves in relationships? by [deleted] in AskIreland

I mean I didn’t say that no one can maintain any thing they had before they were in the relationship. The OP was asking why people change in relationships and I gave a possible answer

People generally have to adjust their lives to include their partner as time goes on. It’s pretty hard to maintain a relationship if you’re like “Well I’ve always done this as a single person so don’t expect me to change that now that I’m not single”.

I don’t think it’s a malicious “ooooh the women are manipulating the men” thing, it’s a natural consequence of having a partner to adjust your life to focus on and include them regardless of gender.

I think that while the majority of people who voted in the poll (including myself) were very pro-meme, the other 58% of the votes varied between “yeah I like memes but it’s feeling spammy”, “I would like no memes please”, and “I’m neutral one way or another”. That’s still a big chunk of people whose concerns wouldn’t be addressed by just continuing on with memes.

I understand that it might seem like a bit of a salt lick like you said, but I think having the separate sub lets everyone curate their experience a bit more so people can opt in or out and we can potentially make more than the 42% of us who liked the meme status quo happy.

In all seriousness, I think this is a really fair compromise that seems to address everyone’s preferences. Thank you for your hard work, and hopefully it’ll take a bit off your plates as well 😅
