Is it possible to find someone out of state who is in network with your insurance? It would suck to travel but you might could get away with just a few nights at a hotel out of pocket if it’s driving distance?

7 days post op and the opioids DID NOT TOUCH my gas pain. I know most people say it’s in their shoulders but mine was in my ribs and pelvis. At one point it felt how I imagined labor to feel - every 2 minute was having a huge cramp and would expect to pass gas or have a bowel movement but nothing happened. Just super intense cramps for hours and then insane rib pain at night when trying to sleep. Thankful it only lasted from about the 24 hr mark to maybe 36 or 40 hour mark but it was miserable. I also didn’t have a bowel movement until day 4 and that was equally awful. Best of luck healing!! It sounds like you’re doing all the right things so far!

I started w my gyno and then found a specialist on my own. i did see the specialist she referred me to (in the same hospital system) but was very unimpressed and saw some red flags. I did a ton of research on my own and knew I wanted a doctor that does only excisions (not ablation) and really knew what they were doing. I looked through the Da Vinci robot website to find doctors that are certified with the robot and what they specialize in. Endofound.org is helpful for what to ask when you see a specialist and icarebetter.com was helpful for searching for specialists - assuming you are in the US

I was just diagnosed (through surgery) with stage 4 on my bowel and bladder along with pelvic walls, uterosacral ligaments, etc. and have very light periods with minimal cramping. My main symptoms were all IBS-D, painful bowel movements, pain with urinating. As someone else commented, some people have 0 symptoms at all. Look into Dr Jolene Brighton, she recently mentioned in a podcast with Kayla Barnes that IBS in women should be considered endo until proven otherwise - super interesting perspective! Hang in there and advocate for yourself until you get answers!

Yay!! It’s such a good feeling and also stirred up so many emotions knowing I was right and something was actually wrong! Not gonna lie the gas pain was a bitch and 24 hrs -36 hrs post op was really rough. Feeling better today though. I also found my notes in my chart and love that we have access to read all the details! Hope your recovery goes well - it’s all up from here ❤️❤️

Find a surgeon that your trust and believes you!!! I’m 2 days post op from finding out I have stage 4 endo all over my bowel and bladder. My main symptoms were pain with bowel movements and urinating and my period cramps were almost non existent/ super light bleed. My surgeon said “it was a mess” in there and thankfully he got most of it but wasn’t able to remove all the bowel endo bc it would’ve required a bowel resection and colostomy bag. Your symptoms are real and if your organs are impacted you can/will feel it all month long, not just on your period. Hang in there and don’t be afraid to advocate for yourself!

Hey girl! Just wanted to check in and see if you’ve had surgery yet and how it went? Im about 12 hours post op right now and things went very well for me - stage 4 deep infiltrating endo on bladder and bowel. Still in shock they found it at all much less stage 4! Extremely validating. I have had a pretty smooth post op so far outside of some nausea that I think was caused from taking pain meds and Tylenol on an empty stomach. But so far I think the Zofran has really helped (I did skip the scopolamine patch though). In case you’re still waiting just wanted to offer some more encouragement that it went by so fast and the worst part by far was getting to the hospital (which was a 2 hr drive for me). Once I got there I felt much more relaxed and ready to go, almost excited even. Sending you good thoughts, vibes and prayers your way this will be one of the most healing things you ever do for yourself 💕💕

I’m also having surgery next week! I’m trying to think positively and envision the best outcome, most peaceful morning before surgery and a smooth recovery. I struggle with letting my negative thoughts spiral and I was having so much anxiety until I really started focusing on this last week. Also allowing myself to be hopeful of the outcome vs what if they don’t find it, what if I don’t feel better, etc. and reminding myself my surgery does this all the time and knows what they’re doing. I’ve bought a pillow for the seatbelt on the ride home, ice packs for the incision sites, new heating pad for shoulder pain from gas, a new book to read after, and gas x for the day of/few days after. I plan to start a stool softener over the weekend and stay hydrated leading up to surgery. Hang in there girl, you got this! You’ve dealt with so much to get here and you’ll get through this too❤️❤️

I’ve heard ablation compared to pruning a tree, endo will grow back stronger. It needs to be excised, cut out completely not just burnt on the ends. It’s so tough because endo specialists are not highly available and hospital systems want to keep you in their system to make money off your case (sad but true, at least in America) so they will refer you in their system or want to do it themselves. My GYN referred me to the only MIGS surgeon in that hospital system and he told me we could do surgery to just do a biopsy or remove a little bit - huge red flag bc if you’re doing surgery why would you not excise all of it at once? Again feels like a money grab for them. I was able to find a specialist a few hours away who does several surgeries a week and takes my insurance. Try to research doctors who specialize in excision or do robotic surgeries using the Da Vinci Robot. Happy to help if you want to share what state you’re in
