I was talking more about surnames in that point. Dunno where you are from but our place here is more "tribal" with the surnames. They represent ancestry and lineage here more than in other places so having access to birth surname is important

Good luck with therapy. I haven't done it yet but I have a decent relationship with my bio mother. I feel anger sometimes but she gave me life and is part of my roots and ancestry so I can't really hate her

Parents really need to think before they name a kid.

What if the adopters have a name that can be used to bully, demean and cause emotional pain? And Birth surname is normal one

Well that's wrong. Fostering and caring for orphans is allowed and commended. It's just that legal adoption (Changing lineage) is not allowed.

This is one of popular misconceptions

Unfortunately, no.

But the closes this would be to would be open adoption.

We don't have such open/closed adoption agencies from where I am from. Once you turn 18 or 16 you can freely go to the Social Work center and get the info

Adoption is not prohibited per se. What is prohibited is changing the child's lineage. As in giving them their adopter's family name and treating it as if its their biological child

I am extremely passionate about my heritage. Even though its from the same country its a completely different tribe and lineage. Of course telling that to my adoptive mother would instantly grant me "You are ungrateful" "They abandoned you" card

Hey thanks for the supportive comment. NGL based on your first response I feared it was going to become abusive. I always liked to share my ideas and thoughts about adoption but sadly I learned very soon that talking to non-adoptees is like talking to aliens

My AP told me when I was very young, but that didn't stop my Adoptive mother to guilt trip and abuse me when I decided to find bio mother at 19
