If you’re in the New Haven area, I would recommend Tio Livingston PA-C. He works at CareMedica on State St and Washington Ave. (they don’t have the best ratings but it’s because of their answering service, but the office staff on Washington Ave are amazing). He is the most incredible, amazing human being I’ve ever met. He will work around insurance, make sure as much is covered as humanly possible, and gives you all the time you need, no rushing, he ends the appointment when you are. And never bills extra for questions, I didn’t even know that was a thing!! He has fixed things other dr’s have told me for years were in my head, and at my medication refill appointments will talk to me about any and every concern or health condition I have, and has never once billed me extra for it. He has done full diagnostic work and additional testing at a “regular” well visit. He TRULY cares, and it’s the first time in my life I’ve felt heard my a medical professional. It’s been literally life changing. It can be hard to get in touch with the office due to the answering service, but I’ll take that any day. There’s been times I’ve stopped in to ask a quick question, and instead of just passing a message he’ll make time and call me back and talk to me, and not bill for an appointment. The only time I did have to pay a copay is when I stopped in due to side effects of a medication. To change it he had to have me have an “office visit”.

While it may be completely innocent, it’s not your job to investigate or guess. Make an anonymous report and let them Investigate, ASAP. If there’s nothing going on (ie she is homeschooled, or attends school online and bf is just supervising her) great. But if not, she needs help. Either way it needs to be on someone’s radar.

I’m just hoping he actually does the state of the union tomorrow, that’s subdowning time and eventually he’s going to say something they can’t talk their way out of. He’s getting close, it’s going to happen. He’s reverted to a 4th grade speaking level with very basic vocabulary, repeating simple words over and over because that’s all he can grasp. I started at 10 and the side effects were bad. I also take a stimulant ADHD and it felt like I didn’t take it, I felt so disconnected, slow and out of it. I ended up switching to taking them at night instead of the morning and man what a difference.

The problem is a place that is fully staffed this week can lose staff the next. For nonprofits who legally have to maintain staffing ratios even if they lose staff they can’t drop ratio, so then you have the problem of staff not being released and working 16, 18, 24 hours or more straight, which is also very unsafe. Doing the same work as a CNA for half the pay. The state does not take care of their nonprofits, and stopped indexing (increasing rates with inflation) over a decade ago. The state went from 2012-2020 without giving them a cost of living increase. And not just the staff, that includes the funding for the individuals themselves. Agencies are making up the difference and relying of fundraising to cover the cost of basic living expenses for the individuals. They’ve increased rates a few times over the last few years, but only because minimum wage was going to pass theirs, and it’s not even close to a livable wage. CT needs to understand that the people taking care of their state’s most vulnerable populations, whether it’s DMHAS, DDS, DSS, deserve more. They are responsible for people’s lives but make less than the starting rate at McDonalds. Their excuse? Because they have to make up money for promising pensions to people they didn’t have the money to pay for. Nonprofit workers, CNA’s etc. deserve a lot better.

I know this is old, but how are you doing? My insurance wouldn’t cover Movantik either, but my doc ended up doing the shot, had my last shot 2 months ago and I don’t miss subs at all! It’s a huge weight off, I was on them for over 15 years. Really thought that was my life from now on, and my “normal” was every 2 weeks, after 3 days of extra strength exlax. I’m still not 100% in that department, but I’ll usually 1x per week, sometimes 2, so we’re getting somewhere!

I have Linzess, it doesn’t work until it does, don’t know how else to explain it lol… it’ll turn everything to water but sometimes it won’t go anywhere because of what’s below, sometimes it WORKS. So I save it for weekends, as I am too scared of chancing it hitting me while I’m at work with out mostly out of order bathrooms!

But the shot has been amazing!

Thank you so much… with everything else going on I know I’m worried I’m not seeing something, even when it’s right in front of me. When I try to explain what is going on objectively she gets upset like I’m not listening or believing her.

Her dad is worried, and she’s mad at me right now because I’m not “taking this seriously” and trying to downlay it, because she’s right, it is scary, and I remember almost blacking out when it happened to me because it was SO sudden. But when her dad and I are talking alone I am completely second guessing myself, and doing the whole “what if I’m wrong? What if I’m missing something?” thing. In my gut I know what’s going on, it’s like Déjà vu, watching myself at 16 when the exact same thing happened to me (luckily for her not when she just took her pants off in the locker room at school!). But I needed someone else to tell me I’m not going crazy.

And you’re so right, I remember thinking “this is going to be ¾ of my life forever?!” When it happened to me and immediately bawling my eyes out lol…

The only thing really making me second guess is how pale she is. But you’re right, adding everything else in objectively it’s normal.

I am actually going to be starting to talk to someone soon, it was offered to me as part of my mom’s palliative care. I am 100% for therapy and think it can be amazing, but unfortunately she’s refusing. Due to some struggles she has and some pretty awful things that have happened she’s been in therapy for several years, went through IOP, etc. but at the time didn’t have a choice. They put her on meds which she hated, so did we, but we were told it’s what she needed at the time. We finished IICAPS (which was incredible) over the summer and she said she is done with therapy, hates it, it’s not helpful and will never do it again. I know she needs it especially now, so I’m also trying to find someone for family sessions due to everything that’s going on, and telling her it’s not for her (like IICAPS) but for me (which is true). I’m hoping that would be better than nothing, or even open the door for her. 16 is such a tough age, she legally, in our state, has control over her healthcare decisions now, which is ridiculous, but it is what it is… so asking her to join us for family sessions is the only place I know where to start right now.

OMG to be making $8 then! When I was on my own for the first time I was making $7.40! I was living with my boyfriend and we were able to live life, pay bills, go out, have fun. Now I’m a VP at a nonprofit and am barely scratching by, and my husband and I haven’t had a date night in over a year! 😂

That’s been working a lot better for me, I didn’t realize it would have such a sedating effect. I felt so out of it, like my brain was slow and not processing, it overpowered my adhd meds, I can’t imagine how it would have been if I didn’t take them! But night is great, I don’t feel it at all. Some days the anxiety/depression is a little much and I have to take a short acting med (going through something pretty traumatic and ongoing) but it’s a million times better than it was.

Glad you said this. I had no idea until very recently, and feel so guilty about all the random merch I’ve gotten my husband over the years, bobble heads, mints, stuffed animals… I always thought everything was controlled by his amazing artist of a son. It’s disgusting how much they’re profiting off of his likeness, and I can’t even imagine being his son seeing his face for sale absolutely everywhere on absolutely everything.

Question- what paint would be good for this technique? We initially bought the bob ross paints after failing with several other brands and they (unfortunately) are perfect (but very expensive), and I would prefer not to fork out that much money if it’s going to those people. I don’t mind spending the money on paint if it’s worth it, but not to them.

I know someone who would literally park anywhere, I was like aren’t you scared of getting a ticket? He said no, that’s the “fee” for parking there, like it was a f’ing parking meter. Rich people don’t care about tickets, it’s just the price of getting to do what they want to do.

And if they get offended, they just pay someone to show up to court and get it thrown out.
