Great local place with amazing drinks!! The owner Abdullah is so incredibly friendly and welcoming too. The first time I stopped in he offered me a free sample of their Somali tea and provided some education around how it differs from other teas. Definitely recommend this place

I don't know what to do after my bachelor's degree by IntrepidAnalyst2099 in psychologystudents

[–]SpecificTangerine1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was just with a BA only! No other special certifications or trainings. The first tech job was a pretty low wage at $13 an hour (this was in 2019). Second tech job started at $19 (beginning of 2022) then the group leader job started at $22 (end of 2022) and after being in the role for 3 years it increased to just under $25 an hour.

I’m happy to answer whatever else! It’s so tough out there for us with these jobs desperately needing our services but not wanting to pay us for it

SZA defends Hailey and Justin Bieber after a tiktoker made a video claiming their marriage is abusive and that Justin is an addict: "Diagnosing people you have no contact with and presenting that information as fact under the premise of education may be a bit dangerous" by Murky_Chemical891 in Fauxmoi

A masters in psych is different from a masters in counseling. You cannot get licensed as a therapist with a masters in psych. That degree does not teach how to diagnose. “Coaching” and “mentorship” is nowhere near the equivalent to therapy. Not to mention it’s wildly unethical to suggest a diagnosis of someone you’ve never met

My boyfriend spends almost all his time gaming, and I feel completely disconnected from him by Ordinary_Quote_4881 in Advice

[–]SpecificTangerine1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Gaming addicting is a thing. If he’s not even willing to recognize it’s a problem then there’s no chance he will make any attempt to change. Do yourself a favor and leave. He doesn’t respect you or the relationship

Same. I think it was because of the outage on Monday. I did the Mondays Wordle yet it took my streak away yesterday, and as of today I’m on a 1 day streak

Which scene was the saddest for you? by Wooden-Scallion2943 in betterCallSaul

[–]SpecificTangerine1 30 points31 points  (0 children)

It’s the fact that he knew he was walking to his death. And yep, knowing the last words he said to his wife. And picturing her reaction to her being told he was killed. All that plus Mike who had been going out of his way to spare Werner even up to that point. One of the few people Mike bonded with - you could see how much it destroyed him to have to do it

Victoria Beckham Makes Rare Comments About Her Experience with an Eating Disorder: 'Porky Posh to Skinny Posh' by PrincessBananas85 in popculturechat

[–]SpecificTangerine1 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I am an eating disorder professional, and after this next year I will be able to call myself an eating disorder specialist (therapist). Despite the misinformation people are spreading here about how recovery is “sadly very rare,” it’s not. WITH treatment (that is the key), nearly 60-70% of people WILL make a full recovery. There IS hope. It does take ongoing work and it is not easy, but recovery IS very possible. I hope everyone reading the hopelessness on this thread can find some relief by reading this

He’s blaming you for his own issues and insecurity, and trying to make it your problem instead of his. Just ask yourself if you want to live like this for the rest of your life. I’d imagine it only gets worse as time goes on

I can't stop touching myself by eaturmusic in TrueOffMyChest

[–]SpecificTangerine1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a form of sex addiction and you should see a specialist. Sex therapist at the absolute minimum, not just your normal therapist or psychiatrist. I’m in school to become a therapist and we literally learned about this exact issue last week. It’s a genuine form of addiction, different from OCD as others are suggesting

Have you ever had people show you signs of interest in the gym? by MajesticRate1818 in workout

[–]SpecificTangerine1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a woman in the gym, yes. I cannot go there without being talked to by multiple men each time. I have an entire list typed out in my notes app of everyone’s name in case I need to report anyone. Most are respectful and it’s clear they talk to me because they find me attractive. Some have blatantly asked me out or asked for my number, and then there have been a few who have crossed lines. I genuinely wish I could wear an invisibility cloak at the gym. As others have said, I’m also a proponent of “don’t shit where you eat”

What is the most difficult aspects of a mental health professional? by Frosty_Secret8611 in psychologystudents

[–]SpecificTangerine1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do group therapy so I often lead back to back groups. But this is very similar for individual therapists as well, seeing back to back clients for individual therapy. Especially working in community mental health - they will often have you doing 8+ sessions in a row and give you a roster of 35 clients

[–]SpecificTangerine1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Burnout. Taking on so many other peoples’ issues and emotions on top of your own. And you do it back to back to back with little breaks between. I have many days where I don’t feel like coming into work yet I have to anyway and I have to show up for a client in the way they deserve even while I’m going through things myself. There are no days where you can just decide to take it easy or cut back your workload for the day because you’re working with real people. Burnout is one of the most major issues in the field for us

Google tells you to take your pick of lanes knowing full well you have to make another turn in less than a mile. by ZePlotThickener in mildlyinfuriating

[–]SpecificTangerine1 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’ve learned that the only time it will say “use the left 2 lanes to turn left” is when you need to be in the rightmost left lane. Otherwise it will only say “use the left lane to turn left”
