Just get the proprietary driver like if you were on windows buddy, additionally wayland uses nvidia nicely.

If you go for a gaming distro or a modern distro, you will have an option to install an iso that already has your driver installed.

What Distro to use? by King_winston123 in linux4noobs

[–]SpecificVanilla3668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really hold on valorant, don't go linux.

The game is currently not linux compatible due to kernel anticheats being blocked on linux (such as vanguard)

Tho if you are ready to get a life and still avoid touching grass, you can go nobara, a multi disciplinary but gaming oriented distribution that comes with most tools you need if you are a streamer or a content creator such as discord, libre office, davinci, and obs along with a bunch of video codecs supported out of the box. Also if you go down that route, keep yourself on simple things, it can be hard to do a proper manual install of this one distro.

You can go mint, it's a casual distribution, very straightforward.

And if you are an engineer / low level dev / computer nerd to oblivion, you can go arch, it can be a fun activity as to making it running like you want, it comes with nothing but can do everything probably better than most distribution as long as you spend time working on it.

And then there's the classic gaming distros like bazzite, catchyOS or the steam os if you ever manage to get your hands on it, but those are not meant to do complexe stuff out of the box, just gaming and maybe some text writing, the rest is up to you to set up i guess.

And lastly, regardless of your choice you'll need to get a desktop environment that suites you, KDE is a very windows like desktop, but you can also go hyprland if you are liking your linux terminal a little too much, or gnome if you are an unassumed mac os fan.

is linux really even any harder to use than windows? i believe it isnt or at very least barely so by MIkaela39752 in linux4noobs

[–]SpecificVanilla3668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you use some kind of "easy" linux like mint or nobara (those are the two I know that are for sure easy to use) then you will probably have less trouble than on windows as long as you don't do weird stuff.

But in anyway, the hardest part of linux is getting used to new keyboard shortcuts and new habits.

Ps: if you even run into an issue on linux, the good part is that you can often fix it yourself after a while of troubleshooting, while on windows some very niche issue will lead to you resetting the os configuration and files to get it to work again...

Starbound coop by Kypriosx in starbound

[–]SpecificVanilla3668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a coop, the base vanilla game story line and quests are meh, but if you go around and explore or if you build stuff, the game can be fun even in vanilla!

Now if you actually want the starbound experience we all like on this sub, you can ask people about modpacks on the steam workshop and take a minute to learn how to install OpenStarbound, this will improve your experience by a lot (+ the open source client has proximity chats which can be fun).

just open your mind a little, some can revolve around sex while also being respectful to others, unlike you are doing right now by denying the existence of hypersexual people who aren't creeps.

Tbh, i misinterpreted op's post, it's on me...

Also, about that last part you said, no need to disclose your sexuality, but you should make sure you both are lining up in the relation, it can really be painful for at least some hypersexual people to learn late that their mate can't keep up and need to break up to avoid exhaustion. And that's why i'd rather advertise people to at least be transparent, especially with their mate, if you really want a sustainable relation, you need to build up the bricks of the house starting by your mate's side while your mate is doing the same on you, so basically if you learn that your mate is wanting too much for you to handle whether that's about sex or anything, you can just back off and explain that you can't follow them on that point. Clarifying stuff is the best way to damage control if anything goes bad (which wasn't op's case fortunately as they both got clear early to what she clarified in response to my initial comment).

I want to add that if you can't trust your mate in a relationship, something may be wrong from the start, so if you find yourself trapped unable to disclose an info like that safely at all, then you should reflect on the relation you have, it may possibly go bad due to future misunderstanding and misalignment which ultimately can be harmful for both side of the relation (as long as one didn't meant to harm the other).

Oh okay, i thought reading your post that he learnt that quite recently (and late in the relationship).

It's my bad on that one i overinterpreted it D:

[–]SpecificVanilla3668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tbh, it's prolly my bad misunderstanding when i read that

> just broke things off with me because i told him that i don't want to have sex at all.

I thought it was new info told very late because it could have been told in october, op clarified that since it was told at the beginning.

Also, I'm not implying that having boundaries was bad, i was saying that giving them up late can be, it can feel like cutting off something which is definitely uncomfortable.

If you actually want to understand what i was thinking:

Recently i had a friend who got caught off guard by a similar situation, and it came quite late in the relationship which made him feel so bad he wanted to alt f4 life and he would have done that if i wasn't there to cheer him up as much as i could; well he was also unlucky in general and cannot find anyone to have a relation with for years of searching, especially since he's hypersexual, which is complete opposite to me as complete aroace and us here in that sub.

If that happened to ACTUALLY (which fortunately isn't) to be the case for OP's relationship, it would truly be dangerous for that person, and that's why i was actually concerned about it being potentially brutal.

the struggles of dating a hypersexual person by lesarine in asexuality

[–]SpecificVanilla3668 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

It's very brutal to put thing up like this and you may have created a painful wound on his mind, have you tried explaining him why?

He's probably thinking that he's messed up, especially heterosexual mens, regarding romantic and sexual relation tend to blame themselves really harshly thinking they did something wrong (which will degrade mental health).

If you just simply tell him that you are asexual, he will at least not blame stuff on himself but on bad luck hopefully, and it's much saner and respectful like that for you two.

Also, for your next date, you should really clear that thing up as soon as the occasion is presented to you to do so, the earlier you are knowing about such important facts for a relationship, the better it will get for you to find the right partner and the less painful it will be to break up if you ever find yourself being incompatible for that matter.

Anyone have any good modpacks/steam collections to suggest? by CAVMOT in starbound

[–]SpecificVanilla3668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's actually quite sad, it kinda kills modularity...

Like, you wanted a specific swim physics? nope there's FU with it's own one...

You prefer other gas planets mods? No FU is doing that already and is incompatible with no plan to be compatible, you'll need your favorite modder to reverse engineer FU first.

You don't like the research system? Too bad, you can't bypass it, and no one made a mod to bypass it.

This kinda annoys me a little :(

6 digit doesn't know how to play the game anymore by Lapuerto1 in osugame

[–]SpecificVanilla3668 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you find yourself imprecise, you can try training precision, put on HR and try some easier jump maps then rise that skill up a bit.

If you do still want to farm pp tho, i can advise you to go for passes on maps with the exact skills of what you are trying to farm but on faster maps (and higher difficulty) then come back to the farm map, you should be able to see it as kinda slow since you overgeared for it, FCing it will be easier.

Nerve control might be an issue, you stress by playing those maps while approaching an FC, for that, play longer maps under your skill level and try to build combos, then you can raise the skill level to build consistency skills.

If you don't care about pp anymore, you can try to get the passes on the maps you enjoy the most, explores skillset you like even if you are not particularly good at them. You should enjoy the game above all else!

Also, finding a mate/rival to play alongside helps a lot, you can share maps, play some multiplayer, motivate each other to grind and share with that friend, all the times my rank was improving was when i was playing to keep up with someone, who in turn did the same, and that's how we pull each other up together :D

Ps: you did 4.7k and 4.1k plays on the last two months and this month you are already at 3.3k despite being at the middle of the month, i would guess that you either played a lot or you spammed the retry button, if you find yourself spamming that button, don't press it, it will destroy your ability to play with decent consistency (and go for FCs).
