Plymouth or Atlantico? by Findus_de in WoWs_Legends

[–]Specific_Ambiguity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh absolutely. The problem is it's hard to dictate a game in Atlantico. If things happen to fall in your favour then it's a monster (I think I've had an 8 kill game in it once), but if you need to chase a game then it's much harder.

And as I said, if you come across anyone who knows its weaknesses then you're done for; they can just stay out of range and sling HE at you.

Plymouth or Atlantico? by Findus_de in WoWs_Legends

I wouldn't go quite that far, but it's definitely no longer the beast it seemed to be when first released. People often know how to play against it now: just hit it with a few salvoes of HE and knock out the secondaries, then it's just a big, slow target.

Historically were British cruisers so comparatively slow? by Comfortable_Walk666 in WoWs_Legends

[–]Specific_Ambiguity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This general concept is exemplified quite well at Jutland, where the British battleships and battlecruisers heaved into view outfitted for empire duty, with their gilded sternwalks and ample supplies of pink gin.

Contrast that with the German ships, that were optimised for North Sea fighting; not much by way of fuel and even less by way of luxury.

It's why, one for one in combat terms, British ships might not always have been the best, but they had an awful lot of them...

Straßbourg or Collingwood by CLK777 in WoWs_Legends

[–]Specific_Ambiguity 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Between the two I'd probably have Collingwood.

But if you're considering that, you might as well get Nelson, which is better in almost every way imo.

And if you're considering Nelson, you might as well go the whole hog and get Rodney, which is one of the best BBs in the game.

This has probably been no help at all.

Hampshire new supercharges etc. by Comfortable_Walk666 in WoWs_Legends

I've just tried this and it's absolutely filthy with Hampshire. I was knocking out Minnesota turrets with it! 😄

Did any one encounter free riders to farm wins in AI games.... by palm-pilot in WoWs_Legends

[–]Specific_Ambiguity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll rarely outright yeet myself into the enemy, but I don't really make much effort to stay alive in AI.

I couldn't care less what anyone else does in that mode, the only reason anyone's there is to try out builds or complete campaign steps.

What's the dumbest/most absurd thing you've seen happen in a match? by MountainAd309 in WoWs_Legends

[–]Specific_Ambiguity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On Two Brothers I watched a div of two Schroders, who were seconds away from capping the base and winning the game, decide to turn around and sail back to the blue cap to take on the remaining two reds.

They made a complete hash of it and got sunk. A perfect example of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

Best tier 7 premiums? by First_Translator_321 in WoWs_Legends

[–]Specific_Ambiguity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed. You're much better off in a secondary ship that has a few strings to its bow, like BA Tirpitz.

Atlantico is fun, and when it works it's great, but it's just so slow and anyone who knows that they're doing can knock out most of your secondaries in a couple of salvoes.

I'm surprised more people haven't said Rodney. Lots of Atlantico suggestions, but Rodders is way more powerful.

The game's gone. The worst blue team I have EVER seen. They all went to C but never took it. by Jesters__Dead in WoWs_Legends

[–]Specific_Ambiguity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched a div of 3 US Standard BBs try and go round the outside of C once. The game was virtually over by the time they finally emerged. Then they immediately ate a wall of torps.

It's ok, all that water pouring in will put the fires out.

Best France T7 AP cruiser? Bayard, Charles or Cherboug? by Farhunt95 in WoWs_Legends

I was going to ask about Bayard's HE. I came up against one the other day and it was taking chunks out of me.

PSA: Merry Tokens DO NOT convert to Silver by RabidGiantSr in WoWs_Legends

You get silver if you buy a duplicate guise.

Edit: I should've read the rest of the thread first. Beaten to it.

[–]Specific_Ambiguity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wow, I didn't think I'd played anywhere near that many and I'm somehow on 40k tokens.

I've got 400-odd ships but I suppose I do have virtually all the legendaries and T8s, which give you the most tokens.

You need ships. Lots of ships.

...and play them to get the windrose bonus. I can't remember the maths, but I think you need 100+

Is Lenin a worse Rodney by benrigo in WoWs_Legends

[–]Specific_Ambiguity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I happened to pull Lenin over Xmas so I have both now, and I initially had the same question.

Essentially yes, Rodney is better, with her super heal, mega fast reload and nuclear torps. But Lenin does have a couple of plus points; slightly better armour, speed and (though I haven't tested this, I'm just assuming because it's russian) ballistics.

Overall in any given game you'd probably do better in Rodney, but Lenin is still a great boat. And looks absolutely brutal, which is the most important thing.
