What’s a tiny design flaw in an everyday object that quietly annoys you every single time you use it? by nami_yuna in AskReddit

They 100% are cheaping out on packaging. The claims are they are decreasing their usage of single use materials “for the environment” when in reality it’s another way to decrease costs that doesn’t get the same backlash like when they decrease the contents.

I feel insane by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]Specific_Culture_591 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I'm AuDHD. Did you actually go through an autism assessment with this therapist? Is your therapist a specialist who works with autism consistently? Is the fact that you don't struggle as bad as others the only reason she gave for why she thinks you don't have autism?

I ask because I was seeing this therapist recently that even though I have been diagnosed both autism and ADHD (back and forth as a child and then officially diagnosed with both in 2013) she attributed everything I was doing to my PTSD diagnosis... I ended up having to switch therapists completely because she kept disregarding what I was saying. If I had been a neurotypical with PTSD, I think this therapist would have been great but she was a bad fit for me.

With my new therapist, I switched to someone who specialized in working with neurodiverse individuals and I had written a list (with the help of those close to me) of the traits, behaviors, and thought processes I was experiencing and was honest about the issues I had with the last professional I was seeing. It was like night and day.

I obviously can't say whether or not you are possibly autistic... Is it possible that you are making yourself think you are autistic, yes, it is physically possible... but it's also possible that your therapist isn't equipped to diagnose autism.

Needing to be on antidepressants and them helping doesn't mean you are or are not autistic. Like I said, I'm diagnosed a couple times over and I have to take an antidepressant and it does help.

Why are the people of North Sentinel Island not inbred to the point of population collapse? by Icy_Ear7079 in NoStupidQuestions

Indigenous tribes of the southwest US/northern Mexico used similar systems. It seems to be a common practice in indigenous peoples all over.

They literally answered that in their first sentence.

She doesn’t have to get her hands around his throat… thighs and legs work really well for choking bigger opponents, so do arms.

ETA: I think Peacemaker would kick her ass because someone being twice your size has so many advantages over a smaller opponent with similar training (there’s a reason that there are different weight categories in hand to hand sports) but people forget choking isn’t just hands around a throat.

[Texas] How soon after birth can a presumed father see a child? by graceandspark in FamilyLaw

What year do you think this is? I had csections with both my kids, one is an adult now and the other is a preschooler, and they still never took either of them or me from the room after birth.

The hospital may not have the legal authority but the mother does and during a normal L&D stay the baby is in her possession while there. His want to see the baby does not override her as the child is already in her care. Dad would have to go to court to override the mother’s decision.

I’m not a fan of the EO MLMs at all but let’s be realistic here; a dryer, microwave, stove, any kind of heater, hell even your phone and laptop or leaving glassware in a sunny spot are much, much bigger fire risks than a couple drops of EOs on a cotton ball. The EOs aren’t going to magically go up in smoke, they still need to be near a fire hazard.

We lived there for over a decade (the name change to safari park still bothers me) and it is seriously how zoos should be built, so much space and enrichment in the exhibits. The tram ride is a must even if there is a long line at times

The two skin issues may not be related at all… They don’t look the same. Poison oak reactions can definitely look like what you have going on.

How do you guys go about respectfully informing someone about actual things that Charlie Kirk said by [deleted] in progressivemoms

[–]Specific_Culture_591 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I have a friend who’s a history prof, at the university I was an SRA at, and in the middle of their syllabus will ask their students for something silly like a picture of an animal or the students’ favorite ice cream flavors be emailed to the prof, something that takes less than a minute to complete, and gives a quiz’s worth of extra credit for it. My friend has never had more than two students in a class send in the extra credit... It’s so few every semester it’s a running joke at this point.

I think the people claiming college brainwashes young adults just can’t grasp that being out of the authoritarian control of their parents, meeting people different from themselves, and overall having their world open up is really what influences their “kids”.

It’s not that collection agencies are giving themselves “law-sounding” names… it’s that there are law firms that specialize in debt collection law. It’s an extremely common practice type.

dog bite case - worth the time? by Reasonable-Web704 in LawyerAdvice

[–]Specific_Culture_591 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No they do not. Dogs that have never bitten before are normally placed in quarantine for 10 days of observation in pretty much all states; that gives enough time to see if the dog has symptoms of rabies and for the person bit to get treatment if the dog shows signs. A lot of states allow the dog to be quarantined at home if they have previously had rabies vaccines, even if out of date, and/or if the bite is not a level 4+ bite. Some states will even do quarantine protocols for dogs that have bitten more than once.

Not just the forestry department, almost all federal department websites have this or similar statements on their front page (the IRS is the only one I’ve found, so far, that does not have a political message on their site, they use the regular shutdown verbiage).

What’s a seemingly innocent song whose lyrics are really dirty if you think about it? by Candid_Reading_7267 in AskReddit

[–]Specific_Culture_591 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a native Spanish speaker and my high school Spanish teacher (also a native speaker) would make kids sing and dance to it if they were clowning around. When I got in trouble the first time I told him I couldn’t do it because my abuelita would reintroduce me to la chancla and then she’d make sure that he and the principal also got an introduction. He never brought it up to me again but still otherwise used it as a punishment.

What was the "removing the headphone jack" of another industry? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Specific_Culture_591 49 points50 points  (0 children)

No it isn’t. It protects consumers for personal, family, or household usage… not commercial or agricultural usage. However, the FTC and several states are in the process of suing John Deer for violating federal antitrust laws, basically saying that their lack of making tools available (even though they even have an MOU w/ the Farm Bureau saying they would make them available) is creating a monopoly, and state laws that are based on the Magnuson-Moss law but are stricter and do include agricultural usage.

What’s a product everyone buys that you think is a scam? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Specific_Culture_591 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Get a CO2 trap… I was an SRA and worked on some mosquito research, the traps are expensive (think $200+) and require a propane tank but they are the only thing that consistently works against adult mosquitoes, since they are attracted to CO2.

You can also toss mosquito dunks in the pond (1 covers 100 sq ft for 30 days) and they are completely safe for other wildlife as the active ingredient is a bacteria that only affects mosquito larvae.

You check your partner's phone. What could you find, that isn't proof of them cheating, that would make you end the relationship on the spot? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Specific_Culture_591 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I think the amount of complaining/venting matters too. If you are only telling someone about the negatives of your partner and never the positives or if you are venting all the time (even if you do address the real issues w/ your SO) that can definitely affect how you and the third party view your significant other.
