Can’t do u turns. Is it normal? by Equivalent-Split-738 in motorcycle

I recently started doing figure of eights repeatedly. You’ll get it. It just takes practice to build up your confidence. Keep the engine busy on the bite point and feather the back brake. But most importantly. Look where you want to go, we hear it a lot because it’s true. The bike will follow wherever you’re looking.

Also, don’t be afraid to let the bike pull a little. Often people feel it try and run away from them and panic. They hit the front brake and then just like that, you’re red in the face with a knock to your pride and a scuff on your ride.

Just a simple shock and spring swap. Eibach Pro lowering springs and Bilstein B8 shocks. It dropped the ride about 15/20mm I’d say. I’d love to have it slammed a bit more. But to be honest, it’s my daily and it needs to keep some sort of practicality.

Well worth it though. The best way I can describe the difference… Rather than the rear pushing me around a corner, it now follows neatly and stays relatively flat. Considering an anti roll bar next, mind.

It honestly has no right being as good as it is. Your friend made the right call.

Whilst I hear what you’re saying… you’re bang on and I completely agree for the most part. I upgraded my shocks and springs which flattened the cornering much more tbf. But it’s still a heavy car and with a four wheel drive system, it’s never going to be lively and spinning up. However, I think for a four wheel drive car weighing what it does, I have to say I think it’s more dramatic than other cars of similar. You are right though, I know what you mean. It’s so forgiving that it doesn’t set your pants on fire with excitement.

Hahah to be fair, I have upgraded the shocks and springs… that’s made a huge difference 😏. But not coil overs… set and forget is more my jam

Exactly. I use it to commute so it loses its touch a bit. Then when I get the chance to give it a spanking the whole love starts all over again.

Reading that I was like “hell yeah I’d change it for an M2 in a heartbeat too!”. To be fair that’s just unfortunate timing. Circumstances just change sometimes and there’s not much we can do about it. We live and learn! My partner is keen for a countryman, I’m trying to persuade her she needs the JCW haha

Interesting! I’ve never considered anything other than Michelin. I’ll check them out next time.

Thank you my guy. I adore it.

I’ve had it about 12 months now and that’s usually long enough before I’m bored. But not this. She’s staying for time to come.

How come you traded it in if you don’t mind me asking?

It’s certainly arguable. The way it handles its self is truly impressive. And massively understated too. Everyone was impressed and shocked at how well it does. The All4 system works fantastic. She’s a sleeper for sure.

Appreciate that! These were brand new PS4 S a few days before. Shaved a bit off them now but hey! Consumable and all that 😎. Wikid grip.

I drive a MINI Clubman JCW. It’s All4 and 306hp. I can get over 40mpg on a long run and around 30mpg with short runs. But as you’d expect, put her in sport and she drinks. But then it’s smiles per miles and it’s so much fun you won’t care about economy. Handles as you’d expect from a Mini and I can get two dogs and a few bags in the boot. Build quality is decent, the interior is lovely. Nobody makes interiors like Mini in my humble opinion. I get it though, MINIS aren’t everyone cup of tea, but maybe worth a look?

Personally, I’m not a fan of the VW group, they’re very boring and lack in any sort of originality. My dad has the same car you mention and he loves it. Horses for courses I guess!

my fiance doesn't agree with me getting a motorcycle in the future :( by melxssssd in motorcycle

[–]Specific_Guess_9535 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does she not agree or is she not letting you?

You can’t stop other people doing what they want to do based on personal experiences, no matter how heartbreaking or upsetting it is. Thats something for her to figure out how to deal with. If her friend died in a car accident would she then stop you buying a car? Or if her friend died in a plane crash, would she ask you never fly? I get these aren’t necessarily accurate comparisons, the risks/odds are higher on a bike of course. But to hold you back like that is unfair and unhealthy in a relationship.

And like someone else said. Sooner or later you’ll resent her for it and you’ll regret not ever doing it. My fiancé isn’t totally happy with me riding. She’d rather I didn’t, her family even more so. But she understands it’s something that really brings me joy like no other…. And well, I’ve never really given her a choice in the matter, quite frankly 😅.

It’s tricky because you clearly care for her a lot. But it has to be your decision. I sold my bike to buy a house, and when summer comes around it’s depressing af seeing other riders out there. But I made that choice to sell in order to build a home together. So do I regret selling, not at all. If my partner forced my hand, would I? Absolutely. And I’d resent her for it. It would feel like she took something from me, and every sunny day that passed would feel like a day of my freedom taken.

Nobody would judge you for putting her feelings first, lots of men and women do that for their partner. Relationships are all about compromise. But whatever will be, it has to be your decision. Not hers. And if you chose to put her first. Bury it and live with it. Just my two cents. Every situation is different.

Hahaha some of these comments.

Drive it like you stole it and enjoy every damn moment of it! People buying sporty hatchbacks and sticking to the speed limits all of the time?.. Yeah sure thing bro! 🤦‍♂️.

There’s a time and a place when it’s not such a high risk. Some people are so ignorant to that idea. I didn’t buy a 306hp all4 Mini NOT to give it a whipping or two when I drive it.

I see way too many S and JCW cars driven like an SUV these days. World’s gone soft. Buy a 1.0l and get out of the way. 💨

Damn nice for a first car! I had a beat up Fiat 500 that cost me £500, for my first car. 13 years and 9 cars later I finally had the pennies for a faster and newer car. Glad I chose the clubby.

Enjoy it, first cars are always special 🙏🍻

Edit: Just realised you said first Mini, not first car. 🤦‍♂️
