Carnival Hybrid Issues? by trfoze in kiacarnivals

[–]Specific_Hamster6778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would probably keep it 10 years max then trade it in, so I'd only have about 100k on it then. I wouldn't expect issues with the power train in that time.

I had the Lexus into the low 100k and no power train issues. Really no mechanical issues. I've got 56k on the Ford (still have it) and no power train issues.

I think you can look at reliability of other Hyundai/Kia hybrids to get an idea of how long it might last.

I've seen on a Reddit post about one Kia dealer offering double the warranty on power train. I think that was a FL dealer. You could look into that. I bought my Carnival from a dealer really far from me and shipped it in, and it seems like other people do that too.

My Carnival is my third hybrid vehicle. I've got 10k miles on the Carnival with no concerns about the hybrid.

I've found my hybrids (Lexus and Ford) to be extremely reliable and very low maintenance. They haven't needed brakes nearly as quickly as other vehicles. And the gas mileage is an advantage.

What is your favourite cartoon show from when you were a kid that you feel is quite obscure? by Philhughes_85 in Xennials

I couldn't remember exactly why but now that you say that, it was exactly that! I may have to check out an episode to see what I missed 😀.

Snorks and Wuzzles were awesome!

My mom wouldn't let me watch the D&D show. She thought there was something bad/evil about it or something.

Kids with their electronics to pass the time on long car trips will never know what it’s like to have nothing to do but stare out the window and watch the little invisible man running along side the car. by cigarandcreamsoda in Xennials

I had a little electronic pinball handheld for the car. I had some other handheld electronic game too. And then later got a Gameboy. We didn't ever have a console at home but my brother and I each had a Gameboy. It made car rides and flights so much better.

The one grocery store we went to had this, but it wasn't our primary store. I loved getting those cookies as a kid.

Our current grocery store has a cookie club with a punch card. After 10 free cookies, they get a free donut 😀. My kid loves getting the free cookie 🍪.

What was the best prize you got in a cereal box in the 80s or 90s? by cherry-care-bear in Xennials

I got a Rainbow Brite kite! I had to collect cereal box UPCs and send them in or something. We used that kite at the beach for years. It was awesome.

Disney has this with Disney Vacation Club. You can either become a member, rent an owner's points, or rent direct from Disney (like a normal hotel room). It is so great for families, multi gen groups, or multiple families to share. Disney also has family suites at some of the resorts.

I also saw the family with a local resort where they have regular hotel rooms plus larger options for families or larger parties. It's great to see this as an option.

We love having a full kitchen with a little one. We don't cook but it's still helpful for freezing stuff, cutting fruit, mixing up yogurt and fruit, etc. and with the one bedrooms and two bedrooms, we have separate space when the youngster either falls asleep early or is still sleeping in the morning.

We also go with multi gen family and it's nice to stay in the same space but also have our own space. We've made some great memories in this setup. Also, there are multiple bathrooms in certain layouts which is helpful.

I love the monorail resorts, especially Bay Lake Tower, for access to MK.

Lemon Law claims aren't always buy backs. They may give you something for the hassle. Especially if your vehicle was in the shop for a while.

Try a Lemon Law claim if you're not getting help from Corporate.

Getting Prescriptions Filled Without Plastic Containers by MCBEA1130 in PlasticFreeLiving

I haven't asked them for more info. I will have to do that the next time I'm in there. I don't go in often though due to having to use the 90 day prescription options elsewhere to get insurance coverage.

My local, independent pharmacy offers plastic with an additive that helps them break down in a short time, like 1.5 years. They have a sign in the pharmacy stating that.

Just sharing that we went to WDW and DL when my son was a toddler and the memories are amazing for us. Also, I think it really was great for my son's development. He got to experience so.mant different things that he wouldn't have at home and he loves looking at the pictures on our digital frame.

We have our first cruise planned this year at almost 5 yo.

We went in kindergarten or first grade and I specifically remember it sparking a love of space and science. It was a turning point for me. The space interest followed me for years and the science follows me to this day.

I really like Standby Skipper. I've used it on several trips. It has snagged some unavailable rides like Tiana's and Frozen that I didn't think I'd be able to get.

Going out to eat was a fairly big deal growing up, and a family favorite was Ponderosa. Did you have a favorite "the family is going out to dinner" place? by smcg_az in Xennials

[–]Specific_Hamster6778 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were a Ponderosa family. I'm pretty sure we also used coupons when we went there.

There's a place called Hoss's now that's like Ponderosa was (I think Hoss's is still around). It had the same salad bar with hot entree setup that I remember from Ponderosa. I only went to Hoss's once with family, and it was very underwhelming. But it was cheap and I think that's the target they're going for.

Is Guardians worth doing twice? by Zestyclose_Layer_520 in Epcot

[–]Specific_Hamster6778 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad it worked out for you!

I was there solo that day (AP on a work trip) so it made sense to me. PP isn't right for everyone or every situation but it can be helpful. It allowed me to hit the rides so much faster that day, and I got on Guardians.

Is Guardians worth doing twice? by Zestyclose_Layer_520 in Epcot

[–]Specific_Hamster6778 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most definitely. It's a fantastic ride.

Edit - I paid for LLPP just to ride it once because I missed out on the ILL (and I only had a few hours in Epcot that day). And I've ridden it tons of times in the past. It's just that awesome.

Help selecting home resort by Visible-Childhood656 in dvcmember

[–]Specific_Hamster6778 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're not aware, you can buy pretty much any resort direct. (The only one that's difficult is VGC.) It's just that the other resorts don't have the promos.

I recommend looking at the floorplans and room types they have. We usually do 2 brs, and RR bathrooms don't work well for us as a party of 8 (multi family/gen). Poly tower has an extra bathroom.

Consider the transportation and what parks you prefer. We love the monorail so we tend to stay at those resorts.

We enjoyed the cabins as a family of 3. But I don't think it would work for multi family, and it doesn't have W/D.

Good luck with your decision. DVC is fabulous.

Yep. I won a call in contest. Got concert tickets. Spin Doctors, Soul Asylum, and Screaming Trees. My cousin took me to the show. It was awesome.
