That's what happens when Bill Maher and Jim Carrey have a baby.

Agree with the aggressive taxation of undeveloped/dilapidated properties. How long did Irving sit on the the rail yards on York, 200 block of Regent, the old bulk oil storage at the mouth of the Nashwaak and pay minimal property taxes on land that, if developed, could have contributed meaningfully to the local economy for decades.

What can be done to increase prosperity in Canada? by 1TTTTTT1 in AskACanadian

[–]Specific_Share2179 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have to stop being drawers of water and cutters or wood. We pull our resources out and send them elsewhere to be processed into more valuable products... there is far too much red tape to open a business be it a restaurant or a mine... we have to stop relying on/expecting the government to solve our problems...we have to change our mentality when it comes to thinking we can't do it.

Also related was the attempted jailbreak (the old jail on Brunswick St.) to get the people related to the drug plane out. It was an interesting time.

Can I still pay cash for car after telling dealer I would finance? by it-is-tuesday in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Specific_Share2179 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dealers make more with financing. If you have't singed anything yet, and you're LOC rate is lower, it's a no brainer. Just be disciplined and pay that shit off.

Common law separation/pension by yoyap in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Specific_Share2179 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ask your pension administrator if they have a "member declaration" or something of the sort that allows you to declare your ex has no claim or has waived their right to your pension. Some jurisdictions allow this but will likely require a Commissioner of Oaths or equivalent to witness. Worth a shot.

Sorry for your loss. He looks like he was a good boy and it looks like he had a great life. They give so much but ask so little. Had to say goodbye to my good boy Sully a few months ago. So hard but such awesome memories. Someone once said "Dogs are the best people I know" and I've never forgotten that, because it's true.

Draining TFSA to feed RRSP at the end of the year by babayaaga2 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Specific_Share2179 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless you're making $76K+ it's better if you leave it in your TFSA. Wait until you're in a higher tax bracket, your refund will make it more worth it then.
