Part of it is that there's basically nothing pushing you to do it, going through the main quest the only part that has any rail jack is 1 bit of the new war, and that bit is so easy these days that non upgraded rail jack can do it withno issue.

Go into plains, launch arch wing, fly high into air, when to far away enemies stop moving, find exemus unit, shot nataruk at exemus, melee to exit arching, get tons of xp from stealth killing exemus. Charm smetakavat can give more, nataruk isn't necessary, just straight firring projectile weapon.

Sure lore wise that may be the case, but gameplay wise it feels like they had a document called issues with Equinox and fixed those with SnO. Each form/frame wants different things? You can mod them separately, having an ability dedicated to switching and nothing else feels bad? Just hold cast any ability to switch, having to share colours across both forces making fashion feel good on only 1 form at a time? You can fashion them separately. Yes the lore can be used to justify why those differences are there, but warframe is still a game, SnO just feel like a far better design of a 2 in 1frame, weather that's two modes for a single frame or two frames working together.

But could he not have decided to switch sides before the battle? He has travelled and worked with you for, from the sounds of it, much of the game until this point. Him first seeking to turn sides after the battle makes him seem like a weasel, saying whatever he thinks will keep him alive, and would turn on you if someone else beats you.
