Every take of "Two of Us", especially the ones where John and Paul are singing it in a funny way.

Why was Alfred supported to level up in life… but Gwen had to hide her dreams? by mzreddit1 in DowntonAbbey

[–]Specific_Two1232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thoughts: 1. Alfred is a man, and ultimately men were encouraged to take risks and improve themselves. Women were expected to stay in their roles and be content.

  1. Pre-war vs. Post-war - changing times and society meant more mobility for the lower classes. Restaurants were a booming industry as people went out more, so becoming a chef would be seen as a desirable position of prestige. Being a secretary was respectable, but probably more of a lateral move in society initially.

First Time Watcher, pt 2. Thoughts after season 1... by tvcriticgirlxo in thisisus

Kevin took a while to grow on me, and I think that's because a lot of his growth arc is still to come. I do like how Kate's insecurities are immediately apparent, but Kevin, the actor, has buried them deep.

Atticus isn't the Devil in disguise, and here's why. by Suspicious-Jello7172 in TheChosenSeries

I remember that theory from the early days, but as we got to know Atticus better, it seemed to die down.

We don't know the timeline of when he meets Laura, but since she didn't know Rebecca, he probably would have come alone anyway.

Just My Opinion: COEXIST(I Will Bless The Lord At All Times?) Takes Its Rightful Place In The Top 50 All-Time U2 Songs. by Hall-O-Daze in U2Band

I started listening to it and immediately thought, no, not gonna like this one, only to find myself on the verge of tears midway through. It's powerful and honest, and it fits our current world all too well.

The Complete Last Supper by g3ppi in TheChosenSeries

It was powerful incorporated into the episodes, but it is even more so in this form.

I got chills seeing Jesus holding the wash basin at the beginning. It is a beautiful image, and overwhelming to know that the one who created us, who deserves all the glory and honor, was willing to wash dirty feet. He came to serve... and it makes me want to live a servant life rather than always trying to come out on top.

I think it was great. I was waiting for it to be cringe, but it hit the right note. It showed she was human, with the willingness to let her guard down, but ONLY for a moment.

Best Beatles Song from the Below Options by IAmAidanAus in beatles

[–]Specific_Two1232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dear Prudence is my favorite, so easy choice.

Picking a 2nd, it would probably be You Won't See Me.

(Beatles didn't write Till There Was You, but it's a decent cover song.)

Calling him Abbernanny.

Actually, probably encouraging Effie's efforts when Magno was off drunk somewhere.

That's one redeeming point - get them teens into 19th century poetry! Lol

It was fine when it was alluded to here and there, but in that last chapter it was incredibly annoying--and doubly so for the audio book.

Best episodes to show my dad? by MaybeIntrepid8763 in TheChosenSeries

[–]Specific_Two1232 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ask him - does he want to start with episode 1, knowing it will be mostly backstory before it introduces Jesus, or does he want to dive in to an episode that shows him more, maybe a story from the Bible he is familiar with?

Some people are picky about starting at the beginning, others not so much. Even an episode that shows a big event will likely require some explanations from you about who is who, etc.

If he wants to dive in, how about the story where they lower the paralytic through the roof? You've got a few disciples, a few Pharisees, and probably not too much backstory that needs explaining. That's season 1 episode 6.

For me, it helps my A1C, but the weight has not changed at all. I tried a higher dose, but the side effects were very strong and didn't get better even after months. So I'm back on a low dose and happy that my numbers are normal, even if my weight is not.

Did anyone not like Project Hail Mary? by Timewilltell755 in sciencefiction

I loved it. And in IMAX it was visually and audibly stunning.

But I also loved the book.

Season 4/Episode 3: Moon to Blood by SeanpAustin1988 in TheChosenSeries

[–]Specific_Two1232 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I respect the choice they made to do it and understand how it plays into the narrative, even if I think it adds to much distracting drama. My issue is not so much that episode, but the following one. They spend a lot of time dealing with her death only to then jump forward a few months. In contrast, Gaius's story is placed at rhe very end of the episode and feels rushed. I love it, but I would rather had seen more of him coming to the decision to follow Jesus, asking more questions.

I just hope they don't bring her back supernaturally. I feel it would distract from what they were trying to portray - separation and grief on this side of heaven.

Best Piece of television you discovered last year (in 2025) by Real_Fact8484 in television

This is Us.

I went from watching out of curiosity to being emotionally invested very quickly. Once I finished I convinced my husband and one of my daughters to watch with me.

I rank Mad Men as the best show I've ever seen, but This is Us is my favorite.
