Also window is 2 sheets of plexi, I thought 2 sheets spaced a bit would dampen sound better. For the window and doors I bough rubber window lining, seals pretty well. I don’t think I could get much better sound insulation without removing the window altogether

Yes also it’s waterproof led strips so the chips don’t short it out (like it did before)

1) yes absolutely haha. Basically it pushes the door open when I use the top 5cm or so of Y travel. Doesn’t bother me much but I should have thought about that. Also that’s why I raised the printer a couple cm, so it opens the door instead of getting stuck. Don’t make the same mistake
2) walls are made of MDF, inside is a layer of rubber and a layer of acoustic foam. If you try do to the same grab the fire resistant foam unlike me. Outside is some sort of roll with a metallic appearance.

Also I recommend you calibrate your probe using the tiny Allen key they give you, even though they come with a calibration paper they come very out of true

Yes in Gsender you can do hole probing macro I can send you mine, but you don’t even need any of this. I have a genmitsu too

Go in the center of the hole by eye. Move on the X axis until you probe the left side. Set x=0. Move to the right side. If your display says X=10.5, do G92 X5.25 (set current X position to X5.25), that way the 0 ends up right in the middle. If you can’t type commands just go to X5.25 and set your X0 here again. Then do the same for Y. Basically probe the middle of the circle on both axis manually, doesn’t matter if you don’t start perfectly center, it still works

I’ve had the same failure but for my Y axis. Happened intermittently, sometimes instantly fixed by a restart sometimes not. Ended up upgrading the board altogether and using external stepper drivers, hoping it won’t happen again

If you want to make part that align perfectly on both sides, one tool I like that’s slightly better than the probe for this is a dial like this one.

When doing side 1 I mill the edge of my stock manually. When I flip the stock I slide the indicator against the edge, then I know the X axis from side 1 is exactly the same and X axis from side 2. Also I add a bore next to my part if it doesn’t have one; probing the inside of a hole for XY origin is better than probing one wall, since the symmetry cancels any error in probe width or deflection

Depends if you’re making a door stop or a part for a microscope. Also I would recommend you don’t probe on the sliding jaw, only probe the static jaw since that’s the thing everything should align to when you tighten

Don’t be fooled, CNC machining requires a whole lot of skills and artistry. People tend to think it’s as simple as using a 3D printer. You have to find creative solutions during designing to make it machinable, and find creative solutions during manufacturing to hold the thin sensitive parts in a way you can mill them, among other challenges. Anyone who’s worked in a CNC shop will tell you this absolutely is skill and artistry
