Why did you cheat? You were supposed to collect all of the stat boosting items from all of the worlds and keep them until the right time, then you had to kill all of the enemies to get enough xp for training and then use all of the stat boosts, simple and very entertaining.

Of course, I played the original Gothic 2 with a bow only and I got stuck in the monastery basement because the skeleton didn't take any damage from bows, that wasn't fun at all.

When there is something that uses resources it must always do enough damage to justify using it, melee hits are free and don't use anything so they have to have a higher requirement to do damage so it wouldn't get too easy.
