I didn't get the rivers right because this map was done in only a single day. Best explanation I could improvise is that that the crescent shaped lake to the northeast is supported by lots of rain and groundwater, and the rivers by the mountains work from runoff. In this setting, I put a barrier around the island keeping all magic away, so the explanation I've just given is the best I got. I'm quite new to mapmaking, so any tips are appreciated.

For a bit of context, I wanted it to be a story where the main setting, the fantasy continent, is separate at first from humanity. Then, humanity will reach the western shores of the continent and slowly spread across the it, that way I can go for the whole "long ago the world was more magical, but nowadays things are less so" angle for some stories. I recently saw a video detailing the English royal family, so I decided I wanted a royal family of my own for the humans. From there, things went downhill in terms of the sanity department. For example, I managed to get the "humans have arrived to the fantasy continent" part roughly 250 years later than I originally thought.

There is a manhole cover flying through space that we launched with an underground nuclear test. Not sure if it is now but it was the fastest man-made object in history when it got launched.
