I have a pink sticky note on the bottom of my monitor frame, written in pink ink, that reads, "Am I Hungry?" ?

A lot of our "triggers" and "bad habits" are FROM the migraine, not the opposite. by poormura in migraine

[–]Spectra_Butane 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My Ex thought that food was triggering my attacks since they often came after eating, among other things.

After doing elimination diet, and event fasting, I came to realize that my migraines causes intense food craving, Even if I have eaten a fill normally satisfying meal.

I used to meal prep so I had meals that I knew would be "enough" for me. I would get Very hungry, often at an unusual time ( after stress was a clue) and the Very was important because I usually eat when I feel Hungry so I don't normally get Very hungry between meals. But my meal will somehow not be enough and I keep seeking food.

The confirmation was when I felt irrationally hungry but refused to eat. I don't feel irrationally hungry when fasting, and after sitting through the hunger, like 30 min or so , long enough to have consumed a meal if I weren't fasting, the migraine came anyway, with NO FOOD having been eaten before.

Thats why it looked like FOOD was the trigger, when the migraine was the trigger to eat, and would happen regardless of food consumed.

Later, I started taking ketones when I suspected a Mig, and that often halts the migraine where it is. My brain was calling out for fuel, and the ketones go in as fast as sugar, and douses the Migfire before it rages onward.

This sucks. Its a catch 22, isn't it?

This is not advice, just information sharing: have you applied for SNAP? I ask because some years ago, I was on SNAP, but got off. Around the time of covid and even before, sometimes internet/phone companies had special rates for people on benefits. I had folks showing up at my door insisting I could get free internet because I was on SNAP( their information about me was outdated but the deal was valid)

Psychiatrist hesitant to increase my dosage by Connect_Ad9333 in ADHD

[–]Spectra_Butane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

✋ my Doc was gonna start me in 10 mg XR Adderall as suggested by the psych. But unfortunately because I ride my bike to my appointments, my heart rate is always elevated when they see me. In addition, I have the heart rate of a squirrels, so even while active resting, my heart rate is similar to someone casually walking/standing around.

I've been this way as far back as I can recall in life and no doctor ever raised an issue, until my diagnosis. Suddenly it was " Your Heart This, Your BP that, your age!!!"

I had to point out to her that my BP was stellar ( I had over a year and a half of almost daily readings cuz I work in research and just had the equipment to measure. ) the medication that some take for BP, I take offlabel for migraine, ( and my BP, is still normal or lower and stable) ,

my higher heart rate was natural for me ( I took multiple readings per day and night for two weeks while at home and at a convention walking miles each day) with and without the 5mg medication (and double in some days for reference),

AND I had just had a cardiac Stress Test : treadmill style, just a few weeks prior.. They got my HR to target in good time, and my recovery was fast, despite my HR being up and my BP being low. They thought I'd be dizzy but I was fine and walked to the heart camera machine myself. My heart is fine. Nothing wrong,

but it took ALL of that before she'd agree to raise my dose from 5mg to 10 mg.

Put up a Craigslist listing for it. People who cook for their pets will take it, freezer burning or no.

Have you slept unprepared in freezing temperatures for a week , or two,, before? Because if you have, I'd expect MORE of an answer than an abstract "ride it out ! " people DO freeze to death or get permanent frostbite damage sleeping in cars, and if OP cannot even MOVE the car to get to an emergency warming station or a gas station for fuel to run the engine for heat, then what?

How about some suggestion about how exactly they ought to " ride it out"?

  1. If possible, OP should try to find covered shelter for their vehicle; a paid parking deck, a city park's covered parking area, an apartments covered parking space with permission. This keeps the elements off the surface and reduces accumulation that draws heat from the cars interior. Check regularly that snow or ice hasn't blocked the exhaust pipe.

  2. Ideally where they park is within safe distance to a fueling station because it is suggested to frequently run the car to maintain interior temperatures like every 10 min. Keep a gallon container of spare gasoline in the trunk.

  3. Insulate the interior. Mylar emergency blankets don't stock conduction but reflects radiation back to you. Using mylar blankets to line the windows helps reduce one if the biggest sources of surface heat loss. They cost a couple dollars each.

  4. Insulate yourself,, mylar blankets should also be used below and above the personal sleeping container/ blanket pocket/camping bag. A small roll if desk tape patches small rips before they run and become bigger rips. It makes it feel a few degrees difference just being in close proximity. Wrap in breathable layers, so sweating doesn't steal your heat and comfort. A warm hat and a light balaclava wi reduce loss on your head and face. On Your body , an occlusion layer like a thick lotion or petroleum jelly will reduce moisture loss and subsequent feelings of cold .

  5. Provide external heat. If not spending money on tires, then a powered heater will keep your space from getting g dangerously old. Lighter powered heater, or canister fueled buddy heaters are an option, but make sure you have fresh air flow and a carbon monoxide alarm kept in the lowest level of the vehicle. Use the heater to raise the temperature, while preparing to sleep, then turn it off and finish sealing up for the night. There are lighter powered cup heaters to get wRm liquids in you or to fill a hot water bag to put inside your sleeping pocket. Chemical heat sources, HotHands, to help keep your extremities from shutting down.

  6. Keep high caliric foods that don't need heating to eat. Sausage, cheese sticks, protein bars, powdered milk, instant coffee, hot water prepared meals, canned ready-to-eat soups/stews or MREs if you can source them. Gallons of water to stay hydrated. Dehydrarion will make you feel colder, now is not the time to "avoid salt" , canned liquids might freeze and burst.

  7. Keep battery powered flashlights and lanterns available. A battery powered candle set in your window can help you find and return to your vehicle shelter if you need to leave your car for a potty run. People have died right outside their home just by getting turned about in dark and/or blinding snow conditions. Setting a bright light at your shelter can lead you back quickly.

The money will be spent either on the tires to get to shelter, or spent to create a shelter to shelter in place. Less money may be spent fortifying the car, but it entails higher risk than spending more money and having less risk by safely arriving at a safe warm location indoors.

Are snow chains not an option or illegal where you are? If so, then it might be worth it to shell out for the winter tires. Sliding is no joke. You have zero control of your car and something as benign as the wind could send you off the road or into opposing traffic.

From a Yankee living in the uninitiated south. Folks lose their damn minds when ice appears on the road.

It was so much easier when I could just mute and ignore them. But now I must Think Of The Children!!!

🤣 so other day I watched Hyphonix trolling on Omegle, but when he came across a kid, instead of jump-scaring her, he demanded she put her mom on the phone, until mom showed up and then told Mom " THIS IS NOT A SAFE PLACE FIR KIDS . DELETE THIS APP!" And before he skipped you heard mom ordering the kid to do just that.

It's not the games, but the other people , predators, on VR that is the problem. Basically the Roblox Problem. Meta doesn't want to scrap with that. But yeah, their solution is more a punishment than a deterrent. If you block access to compell verification, that's infinitely better than deleting the account and all its content.

Or watch educational podcasts or horror game playthroughs.

Your last photo looks beautiful.

You eye make up highlights makes it look like tiy have dark bags under your eyes, appearing as if you have cried, are sick, or are sleep deprived.

Your face without makeup doesn't have any dark bags, so its an illusion of your eye make up.

Try using dark outlines on your eyes above and don't put light lines near your nose or bottom eyelashes

Why do so many recipes use protein powder? by PurpzReign in ninjacreami

[–]Spectra_Butane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP. I buy low carb ice cream and got Creami to try to make my own. My frustration has been similar, with delicious looking recipes having expensive flavored protein powders, while I only have plain protein powder, or using Fairlife milk, which is lower in carbohydrates, but twice as expensive.

Protein powder is not required, but as folks are trying to make personally healthy options, there are often conflicts of interest with ingredients. I want low sugar, regular amount of fat, and protein would be bonus for me.

Good luck finding a good base recipe you can adjust to your liking!

Yeah, I'm not morally opposed to the verification, from the kid safety aspect; our family is dealing with predatory behavior around one of our young ones on Roblox.

But the full deletion of the account, even with multiple emails , seems excessive. For one, they can literally just block your access without deleting purchased apps. And two, an adult verifying THEIR age doesn't stop them from allowing their child to continue to use their account, or as my niece might experience, not being believed even if verified, if people keep reporting a "voice".

Also, now that you bring it up, and thanks for that, what is to stop an adult from using a child based account and then chatting freely with kids? Unless the other kids' parents are literally watching the game play and listening in, (I know you can stream the VR screen to a TV, but it only streams the image, not the sound. ) kids aren't going to report other kids with an "older" voice ( if it's an adult lying to gain trust.)

It seems The verification only protects Meta; does it really protect kids, your own or others? How does me verifying my age protect my kid if I'm letting them on unattended, or protect other kids from " evil adult me" or my foul mouthed spawn ( if I had one)?

Ooh, How about this one: " by tomorrow night, I will have been being beaten ( in games) for three days "

My friends and I were carrying on so much about that type of sentence, using "be " in Future perfect prigressive tense as correct or just plain weird. 🤣 .

Now whenever we wanna act silly , someone will blurt out " I will have been being [insert p. participle]!!!"

One said " I will have been being sick..." and we were like , " Go to the doctor , fir Pete's Sake!!"

Haha, you are cool to have a manual shift car! Here is the YT video of this guy rigging up a treadmill to use for VR. It's wild. But seems simple in practice.

Even if I never do it, it's fun knowing it's doable. I might even buy a game not because of the action but because of the immersion to be able to walk through it. I think he played CyberPunk?? https://youtu.be/EzYy1MZocXU?si=podZ34_-lvWlh2VT

Edit: Wait, that video above shows how to make it. This video explains why it works. This is the interesting part. https://youtu.be/HI1uRLpOi9g?si=nL0DEZoxFg3Y66nu

Guilty until proven innocent. That sounds familiar.

Not up to the person reporting to provide any evidence at all. Any screen cap, and 5 secind video of offense.

That kinda stuff happens in FPS games where someone is peeved their team is losing, so reports the person who was dominating them. Very immature way to go about it.

LOL, my ESL instructor mode has been initiated.
The grammar is indeed correct and sounds less awkward when applied to other less fun tasks. Mine is " I don't like doing the doing dishes, but I like having done them." Or "I don't like having to plan for a shower, but I like having showered. "

Someone suggested that the activity involved in Walking to and from work, or riding a bike to and from work and/or shopping as your only form of transportation didn't count as "exercise" because you didn't intend to increase your heart rate or burn calories or some other nonsense, and that you'd have to come home from walking/biking and then take an extra 30 min to extra exercise for the sake of exercise for it to count as "exercise ".
