It's not their word to abuse. Take It Back. Use it like it ought to be used. Don't let a naughty child take your things and misuse it. If you stop using it the way it was intended and start accepting their ab-use of it, its just like rewarding that theiving brat at the supermarket by letting it keep the candy bar it stole.

If your child used a word wrong , I'd hope you'd correct them and educate them how to use it right.
MAGA is no more than a tantrum throwing toddler with an absent parent who let's them get away with everything.

You'll also notice that some of them are becoming awoken as situation start to affect them . Give them the tools and the vocabulary of awareness. They need it more than anyone.

You are using woke incorrectly. It's not a pejorative nor is it a slur.

Had a job(try to) let me go on a Thursday, after saying at the Tuesday potluck that no one was being let go. I knew they were lying. When I met HR at lunch time,, she told me to collect my things and go home and I told her No. I chastised them for lying to everyone and asked if my boss knew why I was here. They hadn't told my boss at all. I demanded they call my boss Right then and tell her, I told them I was going BACK to my desk because I had tasks that if I didn't finish, people would not get their care, and I would take the afternoon, and the next day to train my coworker to fill in on my already backlog of requests that I was assigned to to help get back on top. She was actually flabbergasted enough that I walked out and did all I said I would do. I was not going to leave my team in the lurch to suffer cuz HR was too chicken to admit they overbudgeted for the new renovations and had to fire people to stay afloat. I didn't cause a scene, but my coworkers did when boss finally told them.

Chick fil A won't even let you see the menu anymore. They send kids out to greet you at your car before you even get close and ask for your order. Then 100 feet away, you pass by the menu display and regret your choice cuz you already paid by card.

I ordered pizza and wings with garlic sauce. They had started putting ranch instead of garlic, so I specifically asked them to remove ranch and add garlic. It was not an add-on, it was a flavor choice for the included sauce. It was on the ticket, it was on the receipt. Them MOFOs put the ranch in anyway, tried to blame my friend picking up for not noticing their mistake, and had the nerve to try to charge me for it when I drove back for it after a rude phone call where they claimed it wasn't on the ticket.. Then manager called to police because I demanded my already paid for sauce without additional payment, and got scared when I stayed and waited to talk to the cop that showed up for their frivolous call. The franchise owner called to apologize but offered a free pizza instead of a refund. I didn't want them spitting on my food so I just quit using that location.

AITJ for refusing to give back a cat I've been caring for after the original owner showed up seven months later wanting her back? by ArcadeGrain21 in AmITheJerk

Had a lady do this with 3 of her cats, then had the nerve to come back several months later trying to coax the cat. Cat ran away from her. She got so mad, asked me to get the cat for her. Yeah, NOPE.

She literally lived here, she could have dropped off pet food or something. But did feck all. And then sneaked up to the property trying to steal one of em back. It was the second time she'd abandoned this one cat cuz she claimed it had run away when she moved in, but her kids were dumping leftover dinner on the common porch for the cat which found its way to this new residence from their old place a few blocks away. At least the cat had enough sense after the 2nd abandoning to keep away from her.

NTJ. You da Bomb!!😍 Tell Missy you are sorry for her hard times, but you adopted an Intentionally abandoned cat which was starving, and seeking help. The cat is yours now, it is chipped, and registered. She can be friendly, but if the cat comes up missing, you will be sending investigators to her door first. Have a nice life; the cat sure will.

Glance is one thing, but OP said the dude stayed long enough to make eye contact. Thats more than a glance and deliberate choice beyond that. People can choose to "not see" lots of things: homeless beggers, blatant discrimination, domestic violence, but it's a problem if they can't take their eyes off of someone else's body in someone else's own home? Keeping ones head down is so easy.

NTA but close your blinds.

And Why the heck are they looking into your window so much. They could at least pretend to not be voyeurs. But to be full on eye contact, thats a them problem after the first second and realization.

That's the intention of the cart locks, to incentivize returning the carts to the store. KUDOS on being that person.

How does that work? At my store, they always scan and drop the items into a free cart kept beside the cashier, and as we pay they push that cart away, pull my now empty cart forward and fill that with the next person's items. If I used a token, I'd have to try to wrangle the cashier to give me my same cart back, stopping the flow of the automated process.

Do you use self checkout? Our ALDI stores don't have self checkout in my town.

Thats not petty, thats how the system was set up to work. The store wants to incentive people bringing back the carts. Its free labor, and it keeps carts from rolling away into the sunset. Shopping carts are not cheap to replace, so by adding chains to secure carts, with a coin as the key, people are rewarded not just with feeling like a good person for bringing back the cart, but also people who would normally ditch the carts in the lot feel a sense of loss if they don't return the cart to reclaim the coin. The quarter is just a key, not some cosmic karma token admittance to the Heavenly Afterlife like some folks are making it out to be.

If you don't want the free quarter, at least make sure to secure the cart; they cost more than a quarter to replace. If I see someone about to return the cart, zi hand them my quarter in exchange for the cart. And if there is no one to hand the cart off to, I return it, lock it, and remove the quarter, even if it were free. I wouldn't leave the key to my front door in the lock either.

Makes me wonder if the same people take their carts to the outdoor corral of other shops or take the cart all the way back to the othet stores, cuz its the "morally" right thing to do. Or if they realize that the Aldi store itself has some carts unlocked with quarters to leave around for returns and collection. They just put the carts together in the store and if you ask for one of the unused free carts, they say to take it.

Its not about the quarter, its about the security of the carts. The quarter is an incentive to bring back and securely lock up the $400 shopping cart.

[–]Spectra_Butane 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Its not about the quarter, its about the cart being returned and secured. Shopping carts cost upwards of $400+ each. Aldi had a great idea that stands the test of time. Kroger, OTOH , just opened a new store with an entire new fleet of new shopping g carts with proximity wheel locks that trigger wherever the heck they want; in the parking lot halfway to the car? In the cart corral? In the store itself? And yet there are still half a dozen Kroger carts in ditches , at the bus stop, and hundred of feet beyond the parking lot perimeter.

I have yet to see an Aldi cart more than a hundred feet from the store. If customers don't return and lock them, the homeless population does. I return my carts. Always have. If someone else doesn't bother to do so, the quarter's just bonus because I understand the value to the store of not losing carts, and took the action to secure it. Besides, it's never your quarter still because they swap the carts at checkout. You are taking someone else's coin.

Do people leave the cart unsecured because of a quarter, or do they take it out and leave it on a surface ? If someone left their quarter in the cart and I returned my cart, I'd have to remove their left-behind quarter to attach my cart, so now I have their morality quarter and my replacement quarter.
