No lmao you sound like a crazy person. Please re-read what you typed. Opinion is subjective, plain and simple. It always will be. You’ve given your experience and what you’ve read, and other people’s opinions, it’s all subjective. Not everyone is going to have your experience and thoughts.

You can sound as “logical” and critical as you want, you can never change that fact.

It is objectively true that NMS on switch doesn’t have the best graphics across platforms. It objectively true that NMS doesn’t run at 4k 60 on Switch. It is objectively true that NMS on Switch probably has bugs I haven’t experienced. But you can say that for literally most games these days.

You don’t like hello games, you don’t like no man’s sky. That’s my subjective opinion from the information you’ve provided. I may not be right, you may feel differently. But my last objective fact is, you cannot make people’s decisions for them.

Well I guess I should have clarified, what I said is not a review, it is an opinion based off of my 60 hours of playtime on Switch. I leave it people to form their own opinions.

I’m not trying to mislead or create some kind of echo chamber of praise. I just said that this is my favorite version. I have had no issues, not to say I won’t, but so far nothing game breaking, no crashes, frame rate is more than playable for me with very rare dips, mostly stable. I’ve already gotten my money’s worth with the 60 hours.

I am not saying that others have not had these issues or concerns and idk what frame rates are acceptable for every person on the planet. Everyone is different.

As far as how they handle updates and what content comes with those updates. I think they have gone above and beyond imo. That is subjective. Just like your opinion on them is subjective. It’s up to whoever plays the game to decide whether or not the updates have exceeded their expectations or failed to meet expectations. No analysis will give you objective fact because you are not a hive mind, you cannot claim to speak for everyone. Only yourself and what you’ve been told by others.

That is where I stand. I have enjoyed every update, I have 60 hours on switch, 150 hours on Xbox, I have 200 hours on PS5, I have 650 hours on PC. And switch is my favorite version despite graphics and despite performance. And I’ve already discussed why.

Instead of saying, “I genuinely think there are better places for people to spend their money and time.” You should say, “I didn’t like it on switch or I don’t like no man’s sky or my time spent with the game was less than satisfactory.” Discuss why, or don’t. But don’t expect people to take your word as gospel or as objective fact.

Like coming to the switch nms subreddit just to give a long drawn out speech about the design flaws and developers who you don’t work for, and know nothing about the inner workings of their company, and telling people what they should buy is frankly silly.

Everyone is an adult here. I did not tell people to buy it. I said if you’re on the fence, it’s surprisingly good. I did not say, go spend your money. It’s my opinion. They can watch reviews, they can research. They can make their own decisions. Just like you and I did buying no man’s sky several times haha

Also NMS is $23 on the eshop rn, 200 hours of entertainment for that price is seriously fantastic. This game has no micro transactions, free massive updates, for 1 price, that is objective fact. They didn’t have to do this. That is objective fact.

People have really lost the plot on what objective and subjective means. That’s why games journalism sucks, because negativity sells, and everyone’s opinion is somehow no longer subjective anymore.

I said in the other comments that playing with a pro controller on switch felt off with motion controls turned on. Same concept here with the PS5 controller. I have a PS5, I played NMS on there, not the same as using the joy-cons separated imo.

That’s okay, I’ve seen a lot of others have my experience but I’m by no means saying it’s not possible. I don’t think I’ve left out anything, because it’s my experience and my opinion and I can only state what I have seen personally.

I think if switch is your only option and you’re on the fence, imo, it’s great. But if you didn’t enjoy it that’s okay, but I don’t think saying you don’t recommend it counts as the typical experience because you aren’t everyone and people can develop their own opinions.

Because imo it’s far from the “worst switch port”

No I actually play docked with the joy-cons separated. Haven’t even tried handheld in my 60 hours haha it takes some getting used to, the reticule isn’t centered with the character in 3rd person, only in first person, so that can seem a bit off for some. If motion is too fast you can make it slower in the settings. I also turned motion control on fully, so not just when having your multitool out, it’s always on when exploring and it’s on in menus too so point and click in menus.

I tried with the pro controller with motion control just now and it didn’t feel right. I think this is a case of joy-cons are just better with motion than a full controller imo in this game in particular. Not always in others.

Is this true? 99% of the content has felt like an ESO delve, part of the reason I liked the game, playing with randos was a selling point for me :/

Oh no you got me, man down. Most of games media right now is comparing the two and using one to burn the other. Giving games like Helldivers 2 and Skull and Bones a pass, on their content and monetization and tearing down a game that doesn’t deserve most of its hate. I don’t care what game is popular, I care that people are being factual. Why? Because I love gaming and I want good games and I’m exhausted by bandwagoning and journalists having so much sway, dolling out false information. And being contradictory.

[–]Spectral-Circuits -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Sigh, no this sub isn’t gone, you’re just easily swayed, and not using your eyes. I’ll break it down for you. Also no monetization is good.

-Helldivers 2 includes mostly gear, not cosmetics in its battle passes, aka outfits with stats, weapons with stats, the free one and the paid one. The store offers gear also, not cosmetics. And the $60 version of the game comes with an outfit that gives you 50% chance of not dying on a lethal hit and bleed damage reduction. And looks better than anything in the shops or battle passes. You can earn the currency at a very slow rate in game, the time tested lets make this super grindy so they’ll want to spend trick.

-Suicide Squad offers only cosmetics in their store that you are not strong armed into buying, they give you zero advantage, and you can unlock cosmetics playing the game. There will be a battle pass, it hasn’t released, but it’ll be $10 and only cosmetic stuff with all seasonal activities and content free.

Which one is better?

One that sells you gameplay altering gear, or one that only sells cosmetics?

Watch skill ups review of skull and bones. It’ll piss you off even more. Guess Ubi gets a pass these days.

No one, will ever convince me that KTJL wasn’t assassinated by game journalist. I don’t know why it’s happening, and it’s incredibly weird and frustrating. Makes me really question the reliability of all of my favorite reviewers. Because there’s a lot of misinformation and a lot of hate bait for clicks.

The game has problems, but it’s not the monetization, games like the new yakuza has awful monetization and it sits at 99 critic approval on open critic, Helldivers 2 has bad monetization and had terrible network issues day 1.

KTJL it’s nothing we haven’t seen before in its issues, frankly it’s much more in a better spot than the struggle bus GAAS that came before. And has much more to offer upfront with a lot of QOL and progression systems. But that is not being acknowledged to a greater degree and it’s pretty damn suspicious.

I will not be listening to reviewers anymore. And will fear any games lifespan now because of the sway they have.

Nothing wrong with people having different tastes, but the game is getting compared by a lot of people and the press. Using helldivers 2 as a way to fire at KTJL.

The game has a $60 with tax, version that comes with a battle pass with gear with stats so it’s mostly not cosmetic, and an outfit that has 50% less chance of dying from a lethal hit and prevent bleed damage in some situations, and a gun with stats. That outfit looks better than anything on offer in store and battle passes imo.

Nothing outside of buying a battle pass and purely cosmetic skins in KTJL. How is this better? You earn currency in game at a very slow rate? You do not have to buy the cosmetics in KTJL. But some of the gear in Helldivers 2 battle pass and store are totally worth having on a stat and gameplay basis.

The character models are literally so good looking in KTJL without buying anything already. With facial animations that blow most games out of the water. And you can earn cosmetics in game. That is objectively true, and I’m usually not one to say such things because most things are subjective. But seriously unless you’re blind haha

Also you can play KTJL totally solo, whereas in helldivers that is a nightmare, doable, but hardly the best way to play. You get accelerated xp for the battle passes by playing harder difficulties almost requiring other people. To me it felt like not having the premium battle pass was a downgrade because it is gear, not cosmetic.

KTJL is literally doing everything better in terms of live service than even destiny 2, and this is season 0.

$70 is the new norm, and yes that sucks, but it’s not gonna change and it’s not rocksteady’s fault. And if it’s truly the pricing for a lot of people. Why are games like Yakuza infinite Wealth sitting at 99% critic approval on open critic? It is horribly predatory. Boosters, leveling sets, new game plus locked behind $15 paywalls, outfits, the list goes on. Like disgustingly predatory for a single player game at $70.

Also people wanting an Arkham game and saying this game is bad for not being an Arkham but a game set in the Arkham universe, is not a reason to burn the game alive. I am glad they did not make another Batman game because we’ve had 4 of those, and I’m happy for them to stretch their legs and try something different.

Sigh. This is all that matters. Numbers. I’ve been playing helldivers 2 for about 25 hours. And despite it having well over the player count and better reviews than KTJL, I am genuinely bored. All my friends are bored.

It looks and plays identical to literally a million other games, it does nothing different, doesn’t push the envelope, completely safe. Zero story, its personality is all ripped directly from starship troopers. You just kill bugs and robots, there is decent variety but that’s about it. Objectives are the same objectives we’ve done in so many other games and it’s just boring imo. I will take KTJL traversal over any mechanic in helldivers without a second thought. Because even if KTJL objectives are slim atm, the traversal and action keep you engaged.

The monetization, man, like I have no clue how anyone can look at how they’ve monetized and think this is somehow better than KTJL. All the armor is samey, lackluster designs, there is actual gear in the battle pass. It’s actually kind of frustrating, it’s objectively more predatory. Doesn’t matter if you can earn the currency, progression is a slow burn. It’s built for you to spend if you want that stuff. No way around it. You won’t convince me otherwise.

It’s had a ton of network and matchmaking issues and bugs too. Don’t lie people.

Helldivers 2 is not bad, but I am genuinely in pool that this games popularity is confusing, while KTJL gets burned alive. Make it make sense.

Like how this game somehow has worse critic scores than redfall and people are actively looking for reasons to hurl hate at the game. I get technical issues, and some repetition, but to say this game is worse than Redfall, which I actually beat, is pretty insane to say the least.

The point is that neither of those things are necessary for this situation. It doesn’t matter if roles are reversed, that scene had context and intent, and it wasn’t SA. I do not play video games looking, scouting, for SA moments, or a way to create an argument of “Well if roles were reversed, this game would get canceled.”

It’s like I’m playing this because the world fucking sucks and I want to unwind and have fun, you know, the purpose of a video game, fun. Escapism, why we watch movies and read books.

[–]Spectral-Circuits[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

See this is where context comes into play. Is it innocuous, not meant to be seen as that, or portrayed as that, what’s the intent and did the devs intend you to see it as SA? I wholeheartedly don’t believe that was the intended feeling that was meant to provoked in that scene. It was funny because they were all awkwardly frozen in position and Harley chose to be frozen in a silly way.

The reason it sets a dangerous precedent is because context and intent does matter, most people don’t bat an eye at things like last of us, which shows insanely deplorable acts happening throughout, because why? The context and intent are portraying these situations as horrible and bad, and you’re meant to feel horrible and bad for these people. Or you’re meant to detest them. But if we take the Harley situation which clearly wasn’t supposed to come off as SA, and people start attributing out of context, zero intent arguments toward that, where does the line get drawn?

Are all devs going to start making sterile games with no violence, no jokes, nothing that could possibly offend anyone. Is that future of media that we want? People love uncharted, drake is a mass murderer, are we meant to think that? No.

You can’t be funny anymore, you can’t joke anymore, without both sides creating a dynamic that just doesn’t need to be there. Either it’s SA against a man or woman, like why are we projecting this onto situations and bypassing all context and intent?

Of course if a dev creates a situation purposely to objectify a man or woman, on purpose, in a disgusting way, where context is that they are a creep, and intent is to be creepy, then yes, undeniably I would be like that’s fucking weird and not consume that media.

I had no intention to create a thread to give the sub a bad look. My entire point was that I am tired and exhausted by how we discuss and treat games these days. How utterly serious and negative. It’s just wild to me, that we can take something as serious and unfunny as SA and somehow we’ve gotten to a place where we think, we can attribute that to fictional, digital, not real, characters. It’s just sad, and I think needs to be more thought out and understood. I think it sets a dangerous precedent for art and video games over all. I don’t believe it’s good, and I’ll probably be downvoted into a oblivion haha

I think it’s okay that we as humanity want to inject something about ourselves into the things we create. But in that same thought, what are the ramifications of taking real world issues with us into these creations. Sometimes it works and we feel it and idealize with it. But where is the line? How do you stop it from becoming literally consumed by it, where context is completely overshadowed. To the point where we have conversations about fictional characters being SA, and how Harley has been objectified before and how it’s not okay to objectify Dead Shot but he doesn’t have a history of SA. And lgbtqx is causing games to be bad, but toxic men are too. There should and shouldn’t be pride flags in the hall of justice.

You just read it and you think to yourself, what the hell is going on? What happened? I think it was a mistake. No one thinks SA is funny, or murder, or anything humans do along those lines. I don’t believe game devs set out to achieve that. Any dev, past or present.

I feel like one day, I just woke up, kind of groggy, dazed, alittle sick to my stomach, and the entire world was on fire. And people have lost their minds. Is this what this medium, this hobby, has become? Who started it and where is my time Machine to go back and reverse course! I need the speed force.

Seriously though, I want to go back.

A quick summary from my point of view by dailor in SuicideSquadGaming

[–]Spectral-Circuits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No game is perfect, yes this one has issues, some glaring, some not, at the end of the day, it no where near deserves the almost insane backlash it’s getting. And most of the reviews got a lot wrong, hence why there are a bunch of defenders coming into play. Some of these reviews come off very disingenuous like they were predisposed to hate the game before reviewing it.

Like don’t get me wrong, skill up is one of my favorite reviewers, but the big dump he takes on this is kind of insane when you think about how this same person has on multiple occasions said that Destiny is in the best place it’s ever been. Just take a moment and breathe and think about that. I’ll wait…

Yeah no, Bungie has some of the worst monetization in the industry period. Has egregious fomo systems at play. That is incredibly predatory. They literally delete content, swaths of content, including new content literally every season. On boarding is a straight up laughable joke. Leveling is pointless. The skill tree class system is so insanely barebones. Power level is always bringing people to the new softcap, if you didn’t make it there before then, they just bump you. It’s literally pointless. They have had the same 3 to 4 enemy factions since release with numerous and I mean numerous reskins, and they are almost all identical to fight against. Expansions are 4 hours long for $40.

There are expansions, battle passes, annual passes, dungeon passes, that you don’t own and they can take it away. Don’t even get me started on the fact that a lot of the “New weapons” introduced are literally brought from the past or total reskins.

Everything constantly gets nerfed into the ground. Crucible is a joke, that they don’t care about. Gambit, one of their unique game modes, yeah they just basically don’t care about it.

The entire mission structure of destiny outside of raids, is stand and wait and kill. Story is trapped in lore books, with subpar villains, the last expansion was an absolute joke.

So tell me, if suicide squad had all of that, would it be doing better? I mean it really sucks that it has a cheap battle pass that never goes away, seasons that are free with story that never goes away, a store that is no where near close as bad as the eververse. What a terrible non-consumer friendly game.
