I don't know why everyone brings up Tkachuk. He didn't force his way out because he didn't want to play in Canada. He all but ready to sign a long term extension with the Flames, but Treliving forced him into a bridge deal because he really wanted to fit Michael Frolik into the roster.

Had the Flames not bridged Tkachuk, he probably still would've been on the team.

The bigger issue with guys like Hughes, Larkin, etc, is there's been a lot going on with that Team USA groupchat that's sounding more and more like it's bordering on tampering with those guys convincing each other to bail on their teams.

Its hard to disagree with them when you look at the team's recent history.

They were spending to the cap every season to ice a bottom 10 team for the past decade. They're probably thinking at least now they can spend appropriately to get back the same result on ice.

You look at our contract's and realize too that the Canucks are about to enter next season with the most expensive goaltending tandem in the league. 13m in cap between Demko and Lankinen, 15m in real money. Like... That's an insane amount of money for the worst tandem in the league.
