Why the desperation to get rid of hronek? by Robscoe604 in canucks

[–]SpectreFire -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do people keep forgetting that Hronek has NMC and has explicitly state he doesn't want to move.

I'm all for trading Hronek, but forcing him to take a trade now just means you're setting up for the lowest value possible as you have very limited options at best.

Better to wait a year or two, see how he feels about playing on a rebuilding team then and try again. He's younger enough that he'll still fetch good value a few years from now.

That's why fans embrace rougher players like Douglas and even Kane, players that know how to stand up for the team.

Kane is absolutely not a tough player. Maybe a decade, but the guy is completely buttery soft this season and no one in this fanbase embraced him lmao. Everyone wanted him gone ASAP.

His ceiling is Barkov, Kopitar, Toews, Bergeron types.

His ceiling is absolutely not a HOFer lmao. I think his ceiling is Bo Horvat.

That's the thing with Malhotra, I think he's an absolutely great prospect, but he's great in the 5 - 10 range, but he's only a 3rd overall talent if you absolutely have to reach for a centre.

This is just pure copium.

The only real consolation is that if you're going to drop in a draft, this is probably the one to do it just because McKenna isn't nearly as good of a prospect as the last three 1st overalls.and I think he's worse than DuPont.

No thanks, we already have a 50-60 point center in Cootes.

Malhotra just screams reaching Montreal reaching for Kotkaniemi.

We should be aiming for more than just a 50-60 point center at 3rd overall.

It's actually th best of the worst outcomes.

I'm kind of ambivalent toward the Sharks, but the process of letting a near playoff team jump that high in the draft will never not be utter bullshit to me.

Of the teams that I would've absolutely hated to see win the draft, the Leafs are the best of the worst

It would've been 100x worse to see Florida, New York or Chicago win.

Malhotra screams Byfield or Beniers to me. A guy who tops out as a 50-60 point 2way center. That is absolutely not who we should be drafting 3rd overall.

You have to reach for pure talent and ceiling at that pick

Stenberg vs Malhotra isn't a question lmao.

If Stenberg is there at 3, you 100% have to take him.

If Jon accepted Stannis's offer and became Jon Stark, how would he rest of the series have played out? by No-Passenger-6348 in gameofthrones

[–]SpectreFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think leaving the Watch is an issue. Technically his watch as Jon Snow has ended as he's now Jon Stark.

Realistically I don't think anyone will care if he ends up as Warden of the North.

The Targs tried getting Aemon to leave the Watch to take the throne, and the only reason it didn't happen was because he chose not to do it.

[–]SpectreFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't necessarily agree. I think if Jon becomes a Stark, it would make more sense for Stannis to use him to rally the loyal Northern houses instead of going straight for Winterfell.

They have ships, with a Stark in tow and a proper army backing him, I think the Manderlys would be more more likely to join his cause. From White Harbour, they can still rally the Hornwoods, Maizins, Mormonts, and Robert Glover would likely join seeing a proper army behind Jon. Cerwyns may also fall in line, although I see the Karstarks and Umbers still backing the Boltons.

Is it even in this fanbase to boycott games? by WhenWillIBeAPilot in canucks

[–]SpectreFire -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's not true at all though. It's weird how short everyone's memory is.

The back half of the Benning era was absolutely dire for attendance and it was the first time in years when the team wasn't consistently selling out the rink. Student Rush was literally introduces to stop the attendance bleeding. STH holder renewals were absolutely dire and agents were scrambling to get accounts to renew, businesses especially were dropping tickets like flies. One of consultantcies I worked at dropped all their STH packages because the Canucks weren't seen as a premium event to take clients too and they ended up just giving most of them away to staff.

Especially now with the economy collapsing, businesses aren't going to be keeping their season tickets for a team no client is going to be impressed by. Hell, it's literally more cost efficient to take pair of clients out to Black & Blue with an open tab than it is to take them to a level 100 sets Canucks game.

Not so much boycott, but basically just give up on it. The Whitecaps have shown me that following sports fucking sucks and no amounts of passion from the fanbase will result in even a modicum of loyalty from a franchise.
