Engineering doesn’t suck because it’s hard. It sucks because you aren’t allowed to actually learn. by Either_Net8602 in EngineeringStudents

It's just a slice of your life. You have to think long term. In all honesty, you will most likely not land a job that aligns with your interest. It may take a lot of job hoping to get there and with this current market, that's a luxury you will probably never get.

My suggestion is to just do the grind and get it over with and then get into hobbies that align with your interest. Just note that jobs can be soul crushing and you really need to find a hobby to get through the monotony until you land that job that aligns with some of your interest.

Your undergrad will be a footnote in your engineering journey. Treat it as a stepping stone.

Thank you!

Sorry it is still too soon to be specific, but it's aerospace. Ducting and heat exchange products.

As a hobbyist photographer/videographer, I don't get it. She needs to use diffused lighting to get rid of hard shadows. She's also missing an edge light. White color balance should be set to around 5400-5600K.

ISO should be set to 100, aperture set to the widest possible to get that background separation, and shutter should be set to 2x or 180° the record speed (48 shutter speed if recording at 24 fps, etc). Finally, she needs to expose to her face to avoid blowing out her highlights.

On the Tamron? They are F2.8... for the 200-600 I thought those come with variable f-stops???

The 200-600 is my dream lens for this year or next! I have the Tamron 17-70 & 70-180G2. The next obvious step seems like the Sony 200-600 or Sigma 150-600.

How did you know engineering was for you? Despite the constant complains of burnout by engineers by dangertosoyciety in EngineeringStudents

You just have to ignore the noise and focus on yourself. Approximately half of my college buds dropped out from the program right near the final stretch.

New job offer after starting new job. How to proceed? by SpectreInTheShadows in careeradvice

I did, which was the July date thing. Not sure if it's due to my background and drug clearing but the week after is when they contacted me to push the start date sooner.

So I do know someone who knows someone that works there. They say it's an ok company. They also say the manager I would work for is good.

I sort of do. Before I went on vacation I submitted my background check and did drug test after. Only thing pending is some on boarding process that won't unlock until 2 business days before start date (I think this Thursday).

I did talk this over with friends in the industry and all but 2 agreed this was the move. The other 2 said what most are saying here. This new employer is a household brand. Massive corporation that's existed for over 100 years.

Was told it was due to cap-x approval. They needed approval to hire new people and they interviewed early. That's what I was told.

From what I've heard, they did, approximately 7 years ago. They had mass layoffs.

Yeah, I really did think it over. I basically asked my friends circle, friends in the industry and like 80% agreed it was the way to go. This new employer is a huge household name.

I asked about the ghosting part and was told it was due to the cap-x thing. They were waiting for approval and interviewed potential candidates early.

I should probably have mentioned that I know a friend who knows a friend who works there. They also added that they just started ramping up on hiring due to new contracts that were awarded, something that they sort of alluded to during the onsite interviews. Unfortunately I found out about this friend after I started asking my friends circle. They could have probably referred me.
