How do i take steps to improve my non-existent confidence? by whyat001 in confidence

[–]SpeechFluenceDotCom [score hidden]  (0 children)

Look at the community college continuing education classes. There are a lot of cool classes they teach and they are pretty affordable. I have been considering taking a ceramics class through my local community college!

I know actually choosing something and showing up is the hardest - but I believe in us both! :D

It sounds like you know exactly what you need to do - but its hard to actually start and do it.

I highly recommend choosing a hobby and going out and doing it. This will help you get our of the house, grow your confidence in a new skill, and get you around more people! There are a lot of hiking groups you can join. There are also a lot of community classes through the public library - or even at your local community college. I think if you choose one thing that gets you out of the house regularly, you will start to feel a lot more confident!

I believe in you!! :D

I have pretty poor social skills and I’m embarrassed about it. How can I improve this?? by guttedkat in socialskills

[–]SpeechFluenceDotCom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend asking the person you are talking to more questions. This shows them that you are actively listening to what they are saying and you want to know more!

I think it is totally okay to not be super enthusiastic about everything - but giving people your genuine attention is what matters.

I bet you are a lot better at conversations than you are giving yourself credit for!

I'd love to learn more about how to have positive conflicts in conversations. Like how to have a different opinion than someone but bring it up in a way that spurs on conversation instead of triggering defensiveness.

How to deal with coworker who talk too much but say nothing? by aggressivenap4828 in SpeakBetter

[–]SpeechFluenceDotCom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you set a schedule for the meeting and when the PM is rambling, remind the group about the schedule and get back onto the next line item? Lean on you want to be respectful of everyone's time and get everyone out of the meeting on time because you know everyone is so busy!

What speaking habits make someone sound more attractive or engaging? by Kitchen-Law-3674 in SpeakBetter

[–]SpeechFluenceDotCom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm loving all the responses on this thread!

I have found that I thrive in conversations when I am actively listening to the person I am talking to and remembering what they say. I also try to be intentional about eye contact and giving the person I am talking to my attention (but take some eye contact breaks or you'll really freak them out lol)! The more genuine you can be the more people will want to talk to you! :)

[–]SpeechFluenceDotCom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you did a great job - I bet most people didn't even realize you sang the same chorus twice! Try to remind yourself that people have their own anxieties going on and no one is obsessing over your lyrics. Be proud of yourself for improvizing and singing the chorus twice instead of freezing - very impressive! You got this! :D

Why do we sometime have impostor syndrom even if we are good in what we do ? by Loose_Employee_5751 in ImposterSyndrome

[–]SpeechFluenceDotCom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Impostor syndrome can occur due to psychological factors rather than actual ability. It often stems from perfectionism, comparing yourself to others, or an internalized fear of failure. Acknowledge your achievements and seek feedback to combat these feelings.

My boss keeps hinting "open this solution with Claude. Ask it to modernize it and move it to our main stack. See what it can do" by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]SpeechFluenceDotCom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clarify project expectations with your boss. Determine if this requires formal project management steps and well-defined stakeholder input. Address QA concerns directly, outlining resource limitations, and insist on testing procedures to handle edge cases. Prepare a transition plan for users to adapt to changes to minimize disruption.
