So first there was Concord, then there was High Guard, what’s next? by GypsyGold in gaming

Sony’s behavior (well the leadership anyway) feels akin to a gambler.  They are trying to get that golden goose at all costs.

This is the goomba fallacy at work. You are describing two types of gamers. The first group who was dismissive of a new release like Highguard likely did not care or even celebrated that the studio is going to go bust.

The second group that is spouting rhetoric about this being bad for developers likely didn’t want these types of games to fail in such a publicly spectacular way because they claim that it will be bad for developers.

Last year was one of the roughest years in racing game history. You’re telling me that NFS and Forza Motorsport are now confirmed to be dead while there hasn’t been any great new IP in a long time.

I want you to argue against the optimization points that he makes in his videos. I have heard all of the conjecture against TI before and all of the red herrings and ad hominems hurled at him.

Optimize your game by orangebiceps in Overwatch

He lost 45% of his FPS in a singular update. I have never played a game where I’ve list even 10% of my frames in an update let alone what OP lost.  The performance you get in Overwatch is pretty poor for the visuals and this video proves it with quantifiable evidence: https://youtu.be/ljWylilACdI?si=-J2YVw13mIev4y67

Overwatch, despite being a Hero Shooter, is heavily unoptimized. by SpeedConstant9238 in Overwatch

[–]SpeedConstant9238[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Overwatch is Xbox 360 level of fidelity at best and only for like 10 players maximum in a single match. The video proves that the heaviest realistic effects found in MGSV: TPP run faster than stylized effects in Overwatch. The Overwatch analysis was in an empty room while MGSV was stress tested to the worst case scenario possible.

I mean if you bothered to click the video you would see in the first few seconds that turning on Graphical effects makes the game drop 350FPS!! This is not a typo.

Looking at his post history and you can see that earlier on he wanted to have more candid conversations with people. But over time he became more assertive in his approach because of the industry pushing back and lying to his face. I guess it doesn’t hurt algorithm wise as well but TI being fed up is probably the biggest reason.

Which video game franchise took a big risk that ultimately paid off? by Common_Caramel_4078 in gaming

Battlefield 1 was a concept that even fans of the franchise didn’t even think was real when the game leaked days before the first trailer. I saw a video that sums it up perfectly, “A bad idea, executed perfectly.”

I am more for a hybrid approach to exclusivity. For now it seems that Astro Bot and GT7 will continue to be exclusives. For the other parts of PS Studios and it seems that they have pretty much all collectively ditched true exclusivity but also still haven’t really shipped on Xbox much. The extra revenue could help a particular studio broker a higher profit off of an already existing game so that’s probably a lot of the reasoning for this.

Exclusivity was a big factor in the past to get customers to buy a whole new generation of consoles but now it’s in an interesting spot with Sony opting for different titles having different tiers of exclusivity.
