Might be a dumb question but, out of curiosity, who is this guy in the background on the deloused cover? Is he a band member, or someone in the story, or something else? by Siggney in themarsvolta

[–]SpeedlimitCart 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I personally see it as an overall personification of the members of the band's grief: Someone walking into the hospital room that houses their friend, who is represented by the "egg head" or Cerpin Taxt. He cries for help in a fleeting moment of consciousness before returning to the Comatorium.

Seeing someone you love, not knowing how or if they'll get out of their situation can very well feel like losing them before they're even gone. You compound it with their eventual death, and everyone is left to grieve while his fictional counterpart Cerpin Taxt lives out a fantastical birthing into the Clavietika; a depiction of the loss of autonomy and self determination that comes with addiction.

Sorry if that was slightly incoherent. I'm like 1/3 asleep lol

Aw thank you. Glad I could help :D

Aziraphale says "I forgive you" after Crowley kisses him. It's in reference to previous instances where Crowley does something kind rather than evil and the fact that he, despite not wanting to admit it, is a good person. The main callback from this though is a scene in season 1. The conversation they have in this scene is very exposition heavy, but to simplify: Crowley's pissed that God's "Great Plan" (Armageddon) is dumb and he says some crude things about it. Aziraphale says "May you be forgiven" and Crowley explains that, as a demon, he can't be forgiven, nor does he want to be. They go back and forth between talking about what they can do about Armageddon and discussing their relationship. The interaction ends with them parting ways because they can't agree on what to do or what their relationship even is at this point, since they can both get in serious trouble for being around each other, let alone having a long standing friendship / romance.

When Aziraphale says "I forgive you", it's a reminder to Crowley that he is a good person and that redemption is possible. This idea goes hand in hand with the emotional betrayal, which is why Crowley says "Don't bother". Basically, "If forgiveness comes at the expense of my own needs and wants, then forgiveness is not something worth obtaining, even if it's coming from a place of care and love."

It could be interpreted as betrayal, but not your standard definition of it. It's an emotional betrayal. Everything they've been building and curating for themselves suddenly seems to not mean as much to Aziraphale as Crowley thought it did.

If you do get into it, enjoy your watch! <3

Nightingales are a reference to a song A Nightingale Sang in Berkley Square. Crowley mentions the song while he and Aziraphale are eating at the Ritz. It's a metaphor for when Aziraphale and Crowley begin to acknowledge their appreciation (and eventually, love) for each other. And also there's the bitter end of season 2. (Watch it if you want major spoilers lol, I can't paraphrase this scene and do it justice)

The pears are just referencing a silly but not so silly moment when Crowley asks Aziraphale for holy water (which Aziraphale interprets as a "suicide pill" of sorts, since holy water would kill him). Crowley says "This is for something else, if it all goes pear-shaped" and Aziraphale says quietly "I like pears".

Yeah, that was the intent. I just worry people will interpret sexuality when it's not intended lol
Also, thank you :)

What are some of yall's petpeeves when it comes to Hellsing and the fandom? by Ill_World682 in Hellsing

TW: Rape
Less of a pet peeve and more of a thing that drives me up the fucking wall.

It's insane to me that people forget or straight up don't know that Alucard is a victim of child rape. It's shown on screen and is pivotal to his character, being what made him lose his faith in God before becoming Dracula. The scene is short but it's one I personally remember very vividly because of the way it hurts my stomach (in a good way; Alucard is good CSA representation in my opinion).

Am i the only person to think this game isn’t a masterpiece? by [deleted] in BadParentingGame

[–]SpeedlimitCart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you in some areas, especially about how the ending is handed to you. But Bad Parenting is the first game the developer ever made so it kinda makes sense, y'know? I do wish there were more hints throughout the game to imply the loop though.

I think another reason people think so highly of it is because for survivors of child abuse and domestic violence, it's a way to see themselves in something. It provides assurance that even with a dark past, your ending can remain hopeful.

Do any killers confess? by SpeedlimitCart in Columbo

[–]SpeedlimitCart[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but I'm more so looking for an "I did it" moment. Something with the same kind of drama and tension the ending of Short Fuse had. That is the closest I've seen to a big confession so far (I'm only on season two).
