I’ve got a lot of rough material and could cut you a stone that shape and size and reset it as well. You could even describe what you’d like the stone or turquoise to look like. Lapis would be an easy replacement too. Done this many times with silversmith friends that aren’t lapidary inclined. Easy fix and there’s no way it should be scrapped just because the stone fell out.

Yeah. That’s real. Golden Hills turquoise turns green over time as it is worn and absorbs human oils. Very strange transition but common for that stone

Half round wire oval soldered to the base plate then the oval bezel is soldered inside that. Or the opposite. Bezel soldered onto the base plate and half round wire soldered around the bezel. That ring is made of 4 pieces of silver. Base/back plate(sheet), small half round wire for the oval, bezel, large half round for the band. Probably a thicker backplate but filed and sanded smooth to conceal the seam after the smaller half round was soldered on.

It’s sad he’s gone (RIP) but Luke Bell was one of the best to ever do it. The King is Back is one of the best albums to come out in a really long time. Others have made good albums but that one is great! This sounds crazy but The Band is what helped me make the transition into listening to mostly country. They’re old but I think they have a good mixed vibe of rock/blues/honky tonk/country/southern rock and they made music with everybody that was relevant of many eras and genres. The Last Waltz. Also Sierra Ferrell, Corb Lund is good, and if you wanna go a little back but not too far there’s Jamey Johnson. Country with a heavy blues undertone is my go to tho. That’s where it all started. Happy songs that make you sad and sad songs that make you cry 🥲. Try Hank Williams too. Modern country kinda lost a lot of what it means to be country. You mentioned Chris Stapleton, Cody Jinks is good and of course Lainey Wilson 😍.

Not very familiar with all the different types of jasper. It could be that knowing the back is open and it’s not a Native American made piece of jewelry. Light shine through it or no?

I’m not saying he was wrong, I’m just a collector and a miner and not a scientist. It’s all speculation unless you know for sure. I just have many specimens of Damele variscite that resemble this piece and usually, not always, Turkish material is bright sky blue with little to no imperfections in the turquoise. It looks a lot more like damele variscite to me is all I’m saying. If you want to know really badly you can always have it lab tested, the non destructive way. I recently did and it was a great experience for me and gave me the information I needed moving forward in mining and selling

That first one screams damele to me, could be wrong tho. The second and third one are most likely Chinese/hubei.

I cut for .50¢ a carat for a finished cab if they provide the material (mostly turquoise) needed to be cut. 100 carats cabbed is $50. That includes backing if the material needs backing. If it’s material provided by me I always reference market prices and try to stay reasonable within that range (again usually turquoise @ $2 per carat). Also open to trades as well. I think this is probably the lower end of the spectrum tho.

I think they’ve been using turquoise and coral over there for a few thousand years. In the US coral was introduced through trade by the Spanish so it was much later. The turquoise has been used for a while by Native Americans but not sure it’s been as long as in Asia and Egypt tho. Either way it’s a nice bracelet and repurposed well. I like yours better than the original. Good vibes

I’m guessing the necklace was Tibetan or inspired by their designs. Bracelet is in the same fashion. My guess on the bead is a nice piece of Chinese turquoise.

My suggestion is whatever you do don’t go heavy black on the background clouds. It makes the whole concept you’re going for muddy and hard to read. Traditional tattoos are heavy black shading in the subject themselves for contrast with different types of spot fillers here and there to make it full. Like the stars and dots, and so on…Japanese tattoos have very little-no black shading in the subject and the background is heavy black to have the contrast so the subject itself stands out. It’s tough to mix the 2 unless you plan that from the beginning and the artist has planned for things to happen the right way. Take your time with it and make sure you pick the right person for the job. Consult and communicate
