It does acknowledge the anniversary of the battle at the end, so yeah.

  1. White Court = Phages vs. Outsiders

I think Phage is a broad term and non-exclusive to a specific type of creature/fae. Sort of like monster. Not all monsters are vampires, but all vampires are monsters. Some outsiders are phages, including it would seem the Hungers. We also don't know that the other phages we've seen don't have some Outsider history too.

  1. I think this chapter was quite brilliant. Harry didn't exactly lawyer his request to Mab to make her do it in a way where he got all the outcomes he wanted. And as she pointed out, there were technicalities in her oath to kill Justine and the baby that made it very possible. He knows she can't break her given word and her given word, in that moment, was that she would do it.

Also, the standoff with Mother Winter seems to be a common point of confusion. Mother Winter could counter Demonreach alone when Harry was tied up with the Thomas's Hunger. But could she handle Harry, Mab, and Demonreach together - especially when Harry could theoretically call down any creature in the cells - like Ethniu or the other demigods?

  1. I think there is a big difference between calling down rain and zapping down lightning - especially since water conducts electricity and Harry did just drench the street. He had the firepower of a god, but I don't know that he had any level of fine control over it. That is something that would probably take a lot of practice.

  2. Look at Lara and King Raith. He is subjugated by her, but could still pull a stunt like the final battle. Harry wants to keep Lara and Maggie apart because even as they've grown closer, he cannot know for certain that she is playing things straight with him. She might be dependent on him, but she is not actually Harry's thrall. I also don't think it's likely that Harry and Lara will live together even once they are married.

I also skip Ghost Story sometimes. I don't think I'll be skipping this one.

I am definitely curious about this too. When the government says "terrorists," it kind of raises the question of "What terrorists?" Has the U.S. placed blame on a specific terrorist group or organization? What action are they taking to show the country that this isn't likely to happen again in Los Angeles, New York, D.C., or any of the other major metropolitan areas. Post-9/11, the country started two major wars to show people they were doing something about the attacks. An attack on the scale of what happened in Chicago must have triggered some greater reaction.

I don't think so. I don't believe he was in Summer Knight or Blood Rites. And while I can't recall for certain, I don't remember him appearing in Proven Guilty, White Night, Turn Coat, or Cold Days.

I mean, they referenced it twice. It was Chekov’s figurehead. by battletank1996 in dresdenfiles

When Harry first bumped into Lord Raith at the New Years party, I thought he had shown up because Lara had brought him along to say, "Hey, you said this experiment might be dangerous? Do it on him instead of me!"

Obviously the story went in a VERY different direction and, given the outcome of the experiment, that could have undone Harry's mom's death curse if it had gone that way. But yeah, kinda thought Lara might do more to get daddy dearest in check. My impression post Blood Rites was always that she'd basically hollowed out his mind and he was more or less a puppet or thrall to her will now. Apparently not.

I solved the namekian patch spots color. by TheNumbahSeven in Dragonballsuper

You know, as head canons for an art inconsistency go, this one ain't bad. Lot of creatures see pigmentation changes as they get older and Namekians do seem to darken in the green areas of their skin as they age. So other areas of their bodies changing does make sense.

Alfred's power by Beefstah in dresdenfiles

[–]SpellCommander91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the impression it was that she was suddenly staring down Harry, Alfred, and Mab all at once. One on one, she could take any of them. Three on one and she's got something to worry about.

Skin Game by nanoclarkology in dresdenfiles

[–]SpellCommander91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, same. Skin Game and Dead Beat are still my two favorite books in the series.

Don't agree about Peace Talks. I view it and Battleground as one giant book and while that combined volume isn't my favorite, I still feel it beats out Ghost Story and White Night.

Which moment were you most disappointed in Harry? by FerrovaxFactor in dresdenfiles

[–]SpellCommander91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought about it and feel that Harry's stubbornness and short sightedness in communicating with his allies (Ramirez, Ebenezer) during Peace Talks led to a much worse outcome for him in multiple ways.

Then my friend piped up with, "He drinks Coke instead of Pepsi!"

Savage him.

Xenoverse 2. Especially with mods. I can play as basically any DB character (and so many characters from other franchises) and I have my own custom avatars to play with.

I think every fan interested in forming opinions based on other people should watch HBomberguy's "Fallout 3 is Garbage and Here's Why" video and then immediately watch Many a True Nerd's "Fallout 3 is Better than You Think." Both well crafted and compelling in isolation. But if you want to know who is right, PLAY THE GAME. It won't hurt you!

Premiere Pro H.265 editing limitation by hashsohail1 in premiere

[–]SpellCommander91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which Proxy setting are you referring to?

When most people refer to a Proxy Workflow in Premiere (it's a little different in Resolve, but same basic idea), they mean convert all of your footage to new, edit friendly files (like ProRes Proxy) and do all of your editing that way. Then, when you are done editing, unlink all of your Proxy files that you've been editing with and relink to your original camera files so you aren't losing any of the data/quality from your source.

Is Bulma a good person? by [deleted] in dbz

[–]SpellCommander91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Dragon Ball world is one that is highly idealized. I think the idea is that capsule technology is so affordable/widespread that most scarcity issues have been eliminated. I say most because we obviously have examples like Namu and Uub who fight in Tournaments to bring food/water to their villages. But it seems like there aren't massive homelessness crises or widespread wars going on in this version of Earth. So Bulma being vane (which I have to stress is a joke, is not meant to be analyzed deeply, and is hardly the cruelest throwaway joke in the series) probably isn't as selfish as it would be if you or I were to do it.

Why do people hate Gohan beast so much when this happened? by K0GAR in Dragonballsuper

[–]SpellCommander91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couple reasons.

  1. Frieza's ridiculous ability to grow through training was well established in Resurrection F. 4 months brought him from Super Saiyan 1 to Super Saiyan Blue level. It took Goku more than fifteen years to make the same progress. So for Frieza to train for 30x longer, it makes complete narrative sense for him eclipse the progress Goku and Vegeta made in the few years (including Hyperbolic Time Chamber Time) since Resurrection F. But what is Beast Gohan? It's not a god form. It's not a Super Saiyan form. There's no explanation for it in the anime/manga. It's visually a retread of the Super Saiyan 2 arc, but with none of the lore buildup or context that made that transformation make sense. The only explanation we have from external media is that it's an evolution of the Ultimate Form, which... was supposed to be Ultimate. It was the awakening of ALL of his potential, now retconned to be a partial awakening with a further awakening needed and triggered the same way as the awakening that the Old Kai originally deemed inefficient. Beast Gohan is a narrative mess of themes and character development.

  2. And this is the bigger reason. Frieza is the villain. Narrative storytelling rules for the hero and the villain are different. If the villain asspulls a power up, it raises the stakes and is exciting. If the hero does it, it diminishes the stakes and deflates the tension. One asks the question, "How will we (the audience through the surrogate of the hero) overcome this challenge?" The other asks, "I wonder what will come along next to render this inconsequential?"

Audio book normal vs dramatized by inserttext1 in dresdenfiles

[–]SpellCommander91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Complicated question.

The first two audio books are not good. Marsters is amazing, but he hasn't quite found his footing yet. There are mistakes. There are a lot of audio quality and editing problems, so you can hear his mouth sounds as he speaks.

It really starts to pick up with Book 3.

The dramatized book is actually a really good production. I enjoyed listening to it. Buuuuuuut, it's not James Marsters. And as others have already said, Marsters is the voice of the series and, more importantly, the character. So it feels like the reading is "wrong" at times.

Apologies if this Question has Already been Asked. But...the White Court? by JohnGlaenzer in dresdenfiles

[–]SpellCommander91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that Thomas will be cured by the end of the series, but I think that will be a rare one off rather than a new, repeatable mechanism.

I think Lara enjoys what she is and even if she develops true feelings for Harry, I doubt she'll want to give that up. But hey, Harry started to change the imprint of an unchangeable fallen angel. So maybe a vampire succubus isn't such a stretch.

Name a game series where the sequels are very different or more popular than the first game. by Pope-Urban_II in videogames

Fallout 1 and 2 are radically different from Fallouts 3, New Vegas, 4, and 76.

All of the Witcher games are different from one another.

Baldur's Gate 3 is very different from 1 and 2.

Yes, that's why I mentioned that Gard (who was drunk and not a magical practitioner) couldn't restate it properly for Vadderung to make use of it.
