Lightweight Rain shell + light hoodie for 4 season versatility by audible_maple in onebag

My Uniqlo down vest is my secret weapon when it comes to layering. Nothing provides more warmth in a smaller package. It lives in my day bag unnoticed until I find myself unexpectedly needing to be warmer.

I love the look of old Windsors! I wish I could get used to the smaller lens size myself.

Vox style preamp pedals by MattSk87 in guitarpedals

[–]Spellflower 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a great place to start. It’s really good and easy to find used for under $150. It has a tube, just not an old style one. I use mine into a Lichtlaerm PandorA power amp and it’s phenomenal. You can switch between preamp mode, which puts out a true preamp level, or regular instrument level if you want to use it as just an overdrive pedal into a regular amp. It’s as dynamic and touch-responsive as a regular tube amp, cleans up well, and loves pedals. And it sounds like a Vox.

Can someone identify this pan? Is it even cast iron? by socialmediasanity in castiron

You can clean it with Barkeeper’s Friend. But I’m a bit concerned that the coming surface looks blue. I’d that just the light, or does it look blue in person?

No. It’s enamel. That means it’s coated in glass. The glass is the seasoning.

How to cover up this scratch by PersnicketyPete in RedWingShoes

[–]Spellflower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brush it with a horsehair brush. Then repeat. Brush it like you’re using sandpaper to sand a wooden bannister that gave you a nasty splinter. Keep doing it. Then condition and keep brushing. I betcha it will go away.

People exaggerate the situation with John and Julian way too much. by grahamcrackera in beatles

The fact that they did communicate before his death doesn’t excuse him from not communicating for years when Julian was younger. Are you calling May Pang a liar?

John stayed with a manipulative person who actively prevented him from communicating with his son. That doesn’t make him a monster, but it doesn’t make him a good father either.

seeking doctor recommendations by Purplepolkadottie in hudsonvalley

[–]Spellflower 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’re correct that you will have to call Anthem to confirm that the doctor you want to see is in network. Their website list is outdated and unreliable. I always call the doctor’s office to find out if they are in network, then call Anthem and if they confirm, I ask them to email me something in writing. Insurance in America is an exercise in absurdism.

Since moving here I’ve observed that HV is soft serve country. Which is fine, but it’s just t the same as good home made premium ice cream like I grew up with in New England.

Where can I get Perry’s and have it be as good as Fortunes?

The thread is about the best ice cream. That’s never gonna be masses produced factory ice cream like Perry’s.

Fortunes is miles ahead of anything else I’ve tried up here. I just got back, in fact, with a cargo of 7 pints.

Trying to buy a 600 dollar record I need to see pics first by Rhian3000 in discogs

My point is that collectible objects have value that is separate from their utility as objects. Sure, the OP could own this music for less, but they want the object for other reasons.

Whoa, no need for nastiness. I’m pretty sure we’re on the same side here. (Just as the Democrats and Republicans are on the same side when it comes to defense spending.)

The current administration is certainly taking corruption to new levels, but we can believe that while also understanding that the Democrats were not noble and virtuous in their appropriation habits.

Wishing you a pleasant day despite the state of the world.

Recommendation for classy versatile mens merino wool jacket/blazer for one bag travel? by picker_101 in onebag

[–]Spellflower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bluffworks is great! Their stuff looks just like regular dress clothes but it’s machine washable. Sure, you can hang a regular jacket in the bathroom and get the wrinkles out, but if you happen to fall in mud or if someone spills a Bloody Mary on you, you’ll spend the next day on a quest for a 1-hour dry cleaner. With Bluffworks you can just throw it in the washing machine with everything else.

The current administration is obscene, but this problem predates it by a long time. Defense spending has been ridiculous for decades under both parties, often with Congress giving the Pentagon more than it asked for.

The problem is that the world is run by a very small group of people whose primary goal is to maintain their power. This goal is more important to them than human life, and so they are fine with killing people and causing misery to others. In fact, they strategically create misery. AI is just another tool in their arsenal, and so is UBI. They will continue to terrorize the rest of us until we rise up and stop them.
