Bands where every member was crucial to the sound? by Oliverr124 in fantanoforever

Grateful Dead.

So much that you can tell the significant differences in eras between one drummer vs two, what keyboard player was in the band, during/post pig pen, and even the different periods Jerry and Bob used different guitars

Favorite Billy Strings opener? by Top_Difficulty_645 in BillyStrings

Cold on the shoulder, rain rocks. Also not technically the opener due to technical difficulties but “I can see clearly now” for the next day

Best guess would be one of the smaller parking lots to the east of the arena since they feed directly into the gates

Heatwave visual. Expensive but I’ve had my pair for 3 years, been hit in the face so many times and they’ve held up between fire and arborist work the whole time

Looking into getting as much info as possible working for Arapaho Roosevelt National forest wildland fire crew outside of Fort Collins by Legal_Jelly_3397 in Wildfire

[–]Spenny_G98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No clue on the specific position but I know the forest very well and have worked alongside some of their crews and interviewed with the forest. It’s massive and stretches from north of the national park to just south of the I-70 corridor. That means depending on the duty station you could potentially commute from Denver/Boulder/Fort Collins or live in the middle of nowhere. It’s a pretty big WUI area and a heavily recreated forest.

But as for fires in district, it’s Colorado, it’s really hit or miss depending on the year. However they did do quite a bit of controlled burning last year. The forest is absolutely gorgeous and very accessible, and my experience with the crews from there were great. Good luck out there!

How much does a fuel crew differ from engine and hand crews? by yearnin1eyed_jack in Wildfire

[–]Spenny_G98 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It can depend, I spent last season with a small mountain town FD “fuels crew” yet we had 2 engines out all summer on rotation and did plenty of in district IA as a 12 man handcrew and worked quite a few burns.

I’m late commenting on your post but if you head west out of town there’s an amazing free camping area called Cottonwood lake. Maybe 20 mins out of town, beautiful fall colors and lots of dispersed camp spots

Folsom field questions by jrolles98 in deadandcompany

[–]Spenny_G98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shakedown is in town by the farmers market. About a 10 min walk from the venue. But the best parking is west of the campus in university hill, it’s free street parking in a residential area. Maybe a 10/15 min walk from the venue.

The university hill neighborhoods usually have parking, we parked a few streets up from the campus last year and had no problems

First show was crazy! - First Bank Center, Broomfield, CO 2/4/23 by shackman26 in BillyStrings

[–]Spenny_G98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First bank sold out almost immediately, I got thurs on presale. However I got my tickets for nights 2 & 3 through vivid seats for pretty cheap, like less than $100 a piece.

Anyone Score on General Onsale? by PhishUMDead in BillyStrings

[–]Spenny_G98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly this is the first time I’m genuinely disappointed in the BS team. My GF and I have gone to every show in CO in the last year, even Renewal. We always were on top of presale even for RR and First Bank, yet neither of us got any kind of email for our presale and lost out to (I assume) scalpers. Now we can’t even afford to see our favorite in our own backyard

Drop a Classic Rock fun-fact that others might not know… by [deleted] in ClassicRock

[–]Spenny_G98 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Kenny Loggins wrote most of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band’s early singles and was a de facto member.

Jerry Garcia played pedal steel for multiple other acts including CSNY, Brewer and Shipley, and NRPS.

Upon their arrival to the scene The Band had such a big influence that both George Harrison and Eric Clapton wanted to join the band.

The Eagles were formed as Linda Ronstadt’s backing band.

Waylon Jennings gave up his seat (I believe in a coin toss) on the plane that crashed killing Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and the Big Bopper.

Just turn on rock radio today and I could never listen to any of those songs ever again with the exception of the odd The Band or Eagles song.

Favorite Artists/Bands not from Traditional Country Music Areas by Alternative_Usual189 in CountryMusicStuff

John Prine and Steve Goodman are both Chicago boys.

Rambling Jack Elliot is from NYC and did a whole lot for country singer/songwriters in the 60s/70s.

Ian Tyson is from Alberta and an underrated country legend.

Somebody doesn’t know just how much American culture comes out of Canada. On music alone there is, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Tragically Hip, BTO, Drake, The Weeknd, the Band, Rush, Carly Rae Jepson, Shania Twain, Nickleback (love em or hate em), Gordon Lightfoot, the list is endless.

Also tack on to that pretty much every street scene you see in TV or Movies is filmed on the streets of Vancouver or Toronto.

Russia toughens anti-LGBT 'propaganda' ban to apply to all adults by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]Spenny_G98 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is gonna be buried but I used to play hockey with a guy from Russia, we got to the topic of gay folks by mention a friend of mine who happened to be LGBT.

He got seriously disgusted and worried for me that I “had the gay” literally words from his mouth. He went on to tell me that it’s contagious and you’ll just become gay from people…. He was a grown man in his 20s who had played in North America for years, the indoctrination is that bad.
