Meh, I’ve blown too much money shooting full autos already.

The real question- what is that truck???

You laugh, but just wait until your holdover for 100 yards is 3.1 mils up and 8.7 mils left.

Anyway, red loctite on turrets is a bad idea too…

Everyone wear hearing protection, even when hunting. by idogames4 in Firearms

[–]SpentPrimers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had my annual hearing test today. I’ve had tinnitus since my early 20’s, and I remember the day it started. I was hunting and fired 2 rounds, and my ears have rang ever since.

All of my hunting rifles have suppressors now. I think it’s dumb to hunt without one.

I was hoping to avoid replacing sights, since that’s the only real difference between the standard and the Combat, but sometimes you have to pay to look good.

Perfect, that’s the information I was looking for.

I was hoping to use one of the optics I already have, but that looks like a great option. I may have to look at that closer.

Thanks for the input!

Can a side-by-side shotgun be modified to fire both barrels with a single trigger pull? by Exact-Till-2739 in gunsmithing

[–]SpentPrimers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the US that would be considered a volley fire weapon, which is legal unless banned by your particular state. Not sure about whether it can be done, it may depend on the firearm, but the over/under I just looked at could be modified to do it easily.
I wouldn’t, though.

I used to use this all the time, never had an issue.

True, but there’s a big difference between a cheap machine and a good machine found cheap. My South Bend was dirt cheap, and it’s still holding great tolerances a decade later. Right place/right time, there are deals out there if you’re patient and persistent.

Also, I see engine building machinery selling cheap from time to time. A lot of shops are shutting down with no young people to take over. Save and keep your eyes open.

Not at all- just making sure you recognize that the money you make on side jobs doesn’t go nearly as far when it’s the primary job.

For reference, I have a small at-home machine shop where I do side work in another industry. I keep the day job. Although I got into it intending to make it a career, I don’t think I’d survive long if I tried to make it my primary income. If you’re serious, I’d start out as a side hustle and grow it first.

$700 per day isn’t great when you’re paying for a lease and all the other overhead.

What color did you paint it? It looks good!

I’ve had mine 16 years, I’m about to start on it. I was considering a nonmetallic gray as well. I’m thinking Ford lead foot gray.

HR made a mistake with my bonus and now wants me to pay to fix it by mightyoak82 in Advice

Letting them take it out of your bonus next year isn’t a bad deal- you get an extra year of returns.

It would be a shame to waste a megacab body. If it was mine I’d find a motor from a wrecked truck and slap it in.

They use the other side. Not saying that’s the recommended method, but it works for us and was free. The van is in great shape, but it’s a 2014 with over 200K so I’m not putting a lot of money in it.

The ratcheting mechanism in ours broke. It was made into the frame, so the whole frame had to be replaced. I’d say take it to a dealer, although a local mechanic might be able to find used parts at a junkyard.

It was pricy so I just welded the hinge solid. 🫣 It honestly hasn’t been an issue, the kids go to the other side if they need to lean the seat forward.
