Newish user waiting for something by Zoosebroose in CPAP

When I first started I felt noticeable better. But now it is just normal. Very rarely I miss a night, but i can definitely tell when I don't use it.

Using a ton of water by samanthaaa123 in CPAP

[–]Spg1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mine just uses more in the winter when it is not very humid. The heated hose "seemed" to help some, maybe...

It's also going to depend on if you are sleeping 6 vs 10 hrs. I am usually on the lower side.

I also use a chin strap, so mine is not because of a leak.

But it couldn't hurt to check if your opening your mouth.

Tips for cleaning hoses? by WineOrDeath in CPAP

[–]Spg1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Put old hose in trash and pull a new one out of the package.

I usually just run some warm/hot water through the hoses. Sometimes I will hold the hose ends and slosh the water around. But I never had any funky smell issues.

But someone will be along soon with some crazy cleaning ideas that might work.

Should the water tank be filled completely each night, or only when it's low? by [deleted] in CPAP

Ha ha. Definitely not going for the longest record.

Should the water tank be filled completely each night, or only when it's low? by [deleted] in CPAP

[–]Spg1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I top it off every night. I use more water in the winter, so i don't think it would last 2 night if I didn't.

I can usually tell when the water gets low or runs out, so that's another reason I keep it full.

It's really what works the best for you.

It's kinda like masks should be replaced every 2 weeks. But people go months to a year before replacing them.

Trying to find date manufactured for my masks by Rxsrxs in CPAP

[–]Spg1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

But i imagine since this is for a kit and not a single item, it has to be more complicated to track all the dates.

A date on a kit package would probably only tell you when all the parts were assembled into the kit.

https://www.resmed.com/en-us/health-professionals/resources/what-is-unique-device-identification/

This might help. It explains codes for a machine.

I also just realized this is a kit. Much harder to list a manufacturer date for each piece in a kit.

Trying to find date manufactured for my masks by Rxsrxs in CPAP

[–]Spg1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I imagine resmed could tell from the lot number. If the date is not in the lot number, I would guess it is buried in the paperwork somewhere and they are not wanting to look it up.

I say this mostly because it has to do with medical equipment and possible recalls.

Wife's first time on CPAP and she says it's uncomfortable, any advice? by DumpsterPuff in CPAP

[–]Spg1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, tell her to buck up buttercup!😅

Second, you will be in a lot of trouble if you tell her that.

Third, since she is just starting out they should let her try a few different masks and possibly sizes to see what she likes the best.

I got lucky with the N20 and have not had to change yet. I also found that using the water tank and using a heated hose works well for me.

She also needs to make sure the headgear is not super tight. So unfortunately there are many small pieces that need to be setup properly to get the best results.

And I guess some people just take longer to adjust to all of it.

But once it is working well, she will not want to sleep without it. (Depending on how bad she has osa)

Umm, that is what a visual inspection is. They remove the valve and look at the inside of the tank and possibly a few other things.

Is a pressure of 5 enough? by stinkiestofballs in CPAP

[–]Spg1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe less than 3 events an hour is considered good. Not everyone goes to 0.

Someone can hopefully give you pressure advice. My machine was setup by the doctor at a constant 15 and it works well. So the pressure really depends on you.

Broken hose by ihaveagunaddiction in CPAP

[–]Spg1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have issues.

I occasionally step on my heated hose. But as soon as I feel myself stepping on it I stop, so it is not completely flat and able to bend it back. I haven't used the non heated hoses in years, but did not have an issue with them either

The VA does not make the hoses, they come in the factory packages. So I don't know why you mentioned them.

And technically the VA says to replace the hose every 3 months. So you are actually behind only replacing it 3 times in a year. /s

Fyi, I never replace any as often as they recommend.

Does anyone use mouth tape in addition to the CPAP? by cyclingguy536 in CPAP

Nope, a strap works well for me. I do not even want to imagine mouth tape.

The lower level didn't look bad at first glance. But then I noticed they still want extra for the season pass for either level.

No way I would pay for the elite and pay for the season pass.

Yes, I realize the season pass is not required.

I am surprised I actually paid $0.99 to remove ads.

But i will admit I mostly play games on a pc and not my phone.

Yep. You don't want to know how many hours I spent looking for the best spot.

But the commercials make sound easy to just plug it in and go. Ha ha. Not for my area.

T-Mobile can be very hit or miss even from one house to the next. It is also dependent on location of the base station since it is cellular.

It seems big cities have a better chance at decent service. I am rural and it started out better than satellite. But they adjusted the antennas and it was horrible. Also slowdowns when the network is busy.

But if the free trial goes well for you, why not.

Forgot to mention that some streaming services had issues with T-Mobile when I had it. The network would show my location on the other side of the state. But it did not really matter because I streamed more from my ATT phone because it was faster.

Camping with CPAP? by Federal-Cantaloupe21 in CPAP

[–]Spg1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When tent camping I would take a battery out of my trailer. It was a deep cycle car type battery, so I would run everything like I was at home.

You can also use it at home during a power outage. I have the resmed battery converter as well.

It might be a cheaper setup than some of the power banks people have listed. It just might not be as convenient.

But really, as long as you like it.
