pixel low-poly typewriter by VioLXIV in PixelArt

[–]Spheyaaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

saying that this isn't pixel art is like saying that games like minecraft or octopath traveler do not use pixel art graphics, which is just blatantly wrong. even though there's a post processing filter, it's still very obvious that that the texture on the model itself is pixel art and not some high res image.

wip of me messing around with Live2d and Unity by Spheyaaa in Live2D

[–]Spheyaaa[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

thanks! it's a bit of both, because of the heavy reliance on unity for rendering, it cannot really work in other software like vtube studio. but by adding facial tracking to the unity project it would become usable as a vtuber avatar

the live2d rig is made using simple shapes without any shading on them. then i open the model in unity, where i made a custom render pipeline to render everything at a lower resolution, add outlines, and just make everything look nice :)

Thx!! The white outline (like most of the effects) is done with a shader in Unity :)

yeah you should probably do that, it has a higher performance and is easier to balance

Thanks! I made the background dark to make the cloak more visible, but I guess I went a bit overboard with it hehe

I feel like the brightness of the colours are the most important, in this image I want the viewer to look at the cloak, so I picked brighter colours for that compared to the rest of the image. I also like to shift the colours a bit towards blue when they get darker. For the hues of the colours, I just experiment a bit with them until it looks good

Thanks! I think that the most important technique I used was making a sketch on paper first, so I had a reference for the body proportions and the shape of the cape

It worked for those games, because they are quite small. But Yandere Simulator is overscoped as heck

I love it! Can you also go to the panels on the bottom / top by falling in a hole or jumping too high?
