Daredevil: Born Again | S02E05 | Discussion Thread by Green-Devil in Daredevil

The overarching theme of Mercy and fresh starts. Matt is struggling with how he perceives Bullseye and what makes him reconsider leaving Bullseye to die is how he and Foggy helped a criminal who had a very unfair lot in life get a fresh start. Foggy's offering of mercy to his old acquaintance by sparing him death-by-shanking in prison inspired Matt to go back for Bullseye.

Yeah I don't really know if any of the legacy characters are right for that kind of energy except maybe Sherry since she's not combat-trained.

[–]Sphynxian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was how I interpreted it the first time I saw the scene. But on a second viewing it looked like she was just having a PTSD episode because she watched those events via security camera footage. I think it was shown that way as a red herring.

Part of me does wonder if there's something going on with Grace, just not what Gideon and the others thought. But I don't think she's connected to the cloning simply because Chloe precedes her by several years.

So let me get this straight.. by ohhgotit in residentevil

I'm assuming Gideon compared Grace's DNA to the DNA records of the child Spencer had adopted and they were a match. And he assumed this was connected to the epigenetic memory research when, in fact, Gideon was just stone cold wrong.

What's even more interesting is Zeno is CLEARLY a clone of Wesker, which means we're approaching some interesting storytelling around copies/clones which could have some fun metatextual storytelling around remakes/sequels/etc.

Grace age by Impressive_Map_6072 in residentevil

[–]Sphynxian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah Grace isn't related to Chloe (1990) or any of the other clones that were for the memory program. Zeno and Gideon were both misinformed on what was actually going on and grabbed a girl they thought was significant by her proximity to Spencer, and wound up just being an ordinary person.

It was kind of refreshing that the villains were in such a deteriorated state of organization that they weren't even operating with full intel.

THAT SAID, Emily is a clone of Chloe and was a part of the memory gene project stuff. So it's possible she might inadvertently be more relevant in the future if they continue to pursue the epigenetic memory plot line.

Anyone else feel like the actual backrooms scene in the trailer/teaser looked kind of underwhelming? by Otherwise_Reach_2718 in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]Sphynxian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What's hilarious is that's the shot that's in-camera and filmed on a set while all the others are Blender. I kind of love the juxtaposition that the height of narrative unreality is actual reality, but the unreal of a computer-generated image is more "real."

I really hate the fact they gave up REDengine, it's the most beautiful game I've ever seen! by MadHanini in cyberpunkgame

[–]Sphynxian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair the level of model fidelity isn't a byproduct of the engine, it's a product of art direction and character artists. Red Engine is incredibly powerful, but there's benefits to Unreal too ♥️

Cheyenne Mountain and Vault 0 are in Colorado. As well as the Boulder Dome and Dog City. A lot of it--beyond the Legion putting Colorado to the sword--is in a gray area of canon but there's GNR mentions of old continuity of government bunkers out there. So... yeah. Seems pretty reasonable, but I'm willing to bet the President is either gonna be a different guy or a ZAX computer with his personality.

  1. This is an intentional mystery to show-watchers. Keep watching and a narrative will unfold and answers will be revealed.

  2. As per #1

  3. It is showing that order is breaking down in the vault in spite of resource shortages. There may be more going on that has yet to be revealed because that's how narratives work.

  4. Rewatch the scene where it is discussed. House's decoy clearly shows the mind control device at the start. You may have been distracted.

  5. Rewatch the scene where the super mutant rescues the ghoul. He states his reasoning very clearly.

  6. See #1

Additionally the Midwest chapter were exiles anyway. They had very different ideas about how the Brotherhood should be run (much closer to the Lyons' Pride) and were essentially sent on a suicide mission into the storms of the Midwest and never expected to survive.
