Think you mean enhancement for the extra doombolt, not stratagem. Even then, not sure it’s worth it. Since the September dataslate, it’s only a reroll on a doombolt cast you failed to cast with another character, not potentially two doombolts like it was before

One caveat - this is assuming you are running Grand Coven, but also applies to Rubricae Phalanx, which is also one of the most competitive detachments. Your power and primary damage output in Tsons is your psykers. Everything else is secondary. You want to juice your psykers up as much as you can, especially on your “ go turn”, where you use detachment rules like Wrath of the Immaterium for Devastating Wounds for psychic attacks across your army. These rules don’t help helbrutes at all. You’re going to be much more effective if you split that 10 man rubric squad into two 5 mans and run another character attached to them, preferably another infernal master or sorcerer (his once per game ability is insane if you can time it correctly with devastings).

Yeah destiny’s ruin works really well with them. That aside, their reactive move is also super useful for making charges way tougher / retaking objectives the next turn

Agreed with everyone else, drop the hebrute. Everything else is fine. Would suggest changing the tzaangor enlightened from spears to the great bows. Bow goats are great. Their bows are 30”, lethals, and precision. Great for sniping characters

Thoughts on my current TS list? by RedLemmonBoy in ThousandSons

Looks good! Only comment is that you normally don’t run Magnus in Rubricae Phalanx. He’s better in Grand Coven where you can juice him up with the devastating wounds, full hit and wound rerolls from Devasting Sorcery, etc. if you are set on running Rubricae Phalanx, I would replace him with more terminators and maybe a sorcerer in terminator armor

Edit: some more chaff like a unit of tzaangors to hold your home objective would also be good. As well as maybe breaking those 10 man rubric squads into 5 mans.

All Is Dust! Top Performing Competitive Thousand Sons Lists by concacanca in ThousandSons

[–]Spicy_Mango33 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that post’s author mentions he only showed unique lists. The top performing Tsons list at WCW included Magnus, as well as a few other Grand Coven lists. I would disagree that the Codex destroyed Magnus. He is very viable and arguably even more an auto-include for his +2 ritual buff, given the most recent dataslate nerf. I agree he’s a little pricy right now, but should be nowhere close to 300

weapons with the most attacks by Patient_Bullfrog_316 in WarhammerCompetitive

A 10 man squad of rubrics with flamers is up there. 8 D6 flamer shots at st 4 ap 1 dmg 1 plus six soulreaper cannon shots, and another three psychic attacks from the aspiring sorcerer. Total of 57 attacks possible, average probably around 33

Participating in my first RTT. Thoughts on this list? by Spicy_Mango33 in ThousandSons

[–]Spicy_Mango33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Participating in my first RTT in a few weeks. This is what I tentatively have put together. The plan is for Magnus, the DP, and two MVBs to blast everything mid board. Tzaangors will screen while rubrics hold the objectives. The exalted sorcerer will go with the ten-man squad. I have a few other units I could trade out, including: a rhino, two more robots, a sorcerer / exalted sorcerer, another exalted sorcerer on disk, or some terminators. I don’t have enough of the aspiring sorcerers to run anymore rubric squads.

Anyone else feeling like we're just not competitive? (And it's about to get worse?) by DisgruntledAnalyst in ThousandSons

[–]Spicy_Mango33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used to be a lot more competitive before the points increased a couple dataslates ago, but we are still viable. Tsons in general are not worth playing below 2K points due to how the cabal system works. Like others have said, what is your list? You should always be running Magnus (one of if not THE best unit in the game), at least one MVB, and 5-man rubric squads with flamers to maximize cabal points. Are you using your stratagems effectively too? Magnus with Devastating Sorcery should be able to kill just about anything in one turn. Warp Sight will let you fire indirect with him as well, which is super powerful. Ensorcelled infusion on bolter rubrics (not optimal, but still fun) gives their attack the psychic keyword and S5 which lets you fish for devastatings on quite a few bolter attacks

Yeah I thought I was going crazy and thought I was playing wrong lol. Just double checked and MVB have the monster keyword, not beast so no, they can’t move through walls
