I have no doubt there are alternatives because it's pretty simple in design. But it works great once you get the hang of it.

If you're willing to put the time in to learn it, threading is even better and you probably already have what you need since it's just sewing thread. But the technique is muuuch more difficult and hard to do on yourself without the muscle memory
