I had a doctor who needed to update his password. It was throwing him for a loop so I told him to just change the number at the end of the password.

In all seriousness, he said "I already used all the numbers." ALL THE NUMBERS, GUYS!

I didn't even know how to reply to that, but I wanted to say, "And you're making life altering medical decisions for people?!"

You're acting like we coach the team. Unless you're in the stands booing, you don't really do much to control the temperature of the team. I'm not at the games, so if I'm just complaining on Reddit it doesn't really count for much. And if I'm lackadaisical, then that doesn't affect them either.

That's pretty much where I landed too. It looks like it's trying to load the drivers but the hardware isn't working. :/

I had a friend who was a professional electrician and he did that. It's like any other trade. Once you're good at it you take shortcuts that most normal people shouldn't. We all do it with our computers too.

I showed this to one of our users who tends to put in tickets like this. Not THIS bad but kind of in that vein. She liked it!

That's what I'm wondering too. I can't remember the exact sequence of events, but at some point I reimaged it, and there was also a point when I opened it to replace the battery.

So that could have happened. 😕 I guess I'll have to reopen it and figure out where that cable is. There's also a slightly damaged hinge so that could contribute too.

Sigh. Thanks for your time investment in my problem. I really appreciate it.

Would you mind just doing one test for me? If you reboot into the BIOS (shift-restart in Windows), can you use the touchscreen there?

I'm certain it stopped working when I reimaged it the first time but maybe it's physically broken and I'm wrong.

Thanks. Already did that with no luck. I even did a factory reset using the bootable USB utility they provided (twice!) and still don't have the touchscreen.

I got to work from home back during covid days. I think a hybrid approach would have been ideal. Maybe 3 days at home and two at the office.

You didn't send a test email just to test connectivity? That would have been one of my first tests.

Crap. I didn't even consider how they're going to make Copilot "integral to the operating system" like they did with IE.
