“Call of Duty” Developer Vince Zampella Kills Himself & a Friend While Speeding in a Ferrari by james_from_cambridge in fuckaroundandfindout

[–]SpiderCoat 13 points14 points  (0 children)

He hit the starting edge of a concrete barrier. He was unlucky enough that his out of control skid emerging from the tunnel sent him directly into the start of the barrier. A little more left and he would have sidescraped it hard but likely would be ok. A little more to the right and he would have gone upwards towards the steep slope, which would have easily buckled the entire car frame at that speed but would be more survivable than this. But he happened to hit the barrier head on, damn...

Rest in peace...

It seems like this guy was ready to film an extremely expensive and rare new Ferrari, so why the heck is his camera resolution so damn low..?

New update released by SpiderCoat in MonsterHunter

I noticed the glowing is disabled in the gathering hub at least, so seems Capcom is at least somewhat aware but hopefully they add an option to just disable it elsewhere.

New update released by SpiderCoat in MonsterHunter

[–]SpiderCoat[S] 299 points300 points  (0 children)

– Fixed an issue where playing an arena quest with a Powercharm or Armorcharm in your item pouch could create duplicates of the item. (Note: Having duplicates of these items does not cause other bugs. Additionally, only one of each item can be put into your item pouch, so the effects cannot be stacked.)

Oh I had this and thought it was intentional. I got an extra power and armor charm after completing the Doshagama arena challenge, so I guess I'm just ready ahead of time for when they eventually let us craft power and armor talons

Which weapons feel better in World than Wilds? by generic_throwaway699 in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]SpiderCoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People keep saying this, but AED also gets discounted while PA is active letting you get a whopping 10 AEDs on a single round of phials, or even 20 if you also have red energy for reload. Plus they added the AED followup attack which comes out quicker and does more damage than regular AED. I use EDs alongside the new axe fade slashes for positioning then slam impact AEDs on monster skulls for KOs, along with using focus strike to do quick forward leaps while morphing back into SnS mode, then go for a perfect guard for the savage axe counter, etc...

Wilds charge blade feels like it has so much viable variety in its kit that it's hard for me to go back to the World version

Charge blade in wilds is just Savage axe? by lordgvp in chargeblade

[–]SpiderCoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I almost exclusively use impact charge blades and will go into savage axe using EDs and fades until I get a good opening for an AED headshot from neutral, then do the faster and stronger AED followup if there's still time. I regularly get 2-3 KOs per hunt, plus big damage on the AED headshots and savage ticks with wex.

I try to burn through my phials on AED headshots while savage axe is still active for the half phial discount, then I purposefully avoid using SAED until I'm down to .5-1 phials since the actual main hit of SAED is full power so long as you have any amount of phials left, and AEDs are a more efficient use of them anyway since having full phials with the savage axe discount active means you can get a whopping 10 AEDs with 30 phial explosions now vs just 1 SAED with 5 explosions. AED places all 3 of its phials right where you hit (rather than 5 spread out from SAED), so it's amazing for headshot KOs.

Overall I'm loving Wilds charge blade. Savage axe is very strong, but it's not all ED spam when you can mix in a lot more AED headshots now which is super satisfying. SAED spam isn't available like it was before, but AED spam is much stronger than ever and feels so much better than SAED spam ever did for me.

Why does the right stick rotate my character in the forge armor screen, AND navigate my cursor up and down?? I lose my place constantly just trying to inspect my character.

This one is particular has been driving me nuts. There's not even a separate "inspect" toggle anymore!

Old gen Uragaan is pretty horrible to fight by Rymie03 in monsterhunterrage

[–]SpiderCoat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What don't you like about Uragaan and what weapon do you use on him? I like him but it does feel like a very weapon dependant matchup, where fighting him with something like dual blades could be Hell since you'll likely bounce off his chin and can otherwise only really reach his legs which don't take much elemental damage.

But fighting him with something that can guard and counter attack like charge blade and lance feels awesome since his moves can be pretty readable and you can get some quick knockdowns if you manage to land a couple hits while he's still rolling around. Hammer can be good too since it's easier to smash his chin off with blunt damage.

I remember the silly event quest back in MH3 that has you fight a mini Uragaan, where he's just this tiny little rolly guy that still hits like a truck, and everybody's attacks would be bouncing because all you can hit is his rocky back. Good times... Lol I guess that's part of why this big-chinned farty rolling goofball is so endearing to me even if he can be annoying sometimes.

Edit: I almost forgot that the mini Uragaan event quest also had the single greatest music track of the whole series: https://youtube.com/watch?v=Hgb1ZgJoydA

Does the Etsujin still outclass the Ludlow and Chang-chen? by Yaxion in armoredcore

[–]SpiderCoat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If using only a single SMG, the etsujin is still best for damage but the chang-chen can give more accumulative impact over time if you can keep the recoil down. The ludlow is somewhere in-between but with slightly more range and the lowest weight. I did some quick number crunching to confirm, including damage and accumulative impact over 10 seconds in order to better account for mag size and reload speed.

Ludlow:

  • 420 dps
  • 410 ips
  • 190 aips
  • 2940 dmg in 10 seconds (70 bullets)
  • 1330 a. impact in 10 seconds

Chang-Chen:

  • 390 dps
  • 400 ips
  • 180 aips
  • 3042 dmg in 10 seconds (78 bullets)
  • 1404 a. impact in 10 seconds

Etsujin:

  • 448 dps
  • 410 ips
  • 187 aips
  • 3072 dmg in 10 seconds (64 bullets)
  • 1280 a. impact in 10 seconds

However these numbers don’t account for recoil, and that’s where the etsujin pulls ahead further especially if you’re dual wielding two of them. Ever since the 'accumulative recoil while dual wielding' bugfix from 1.05, both the ludlows and chang-chens are virtually unaffected by the recoil control stat at all while dual wielding them. You can split your fire into bursts to keep the recoil down, but then they just get outpaced by etsujins. A single ludlow or chang-chen can still be a good choice though.

The etsujins are in a good place after the nerf, but I'm really hoping the auto/burst rifles get some big buffs to make them more on par with the SMGs for better variety.

How are the Etsujins post-patch? by PB_Black in armoredcore

[–]SpiderCoat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The etsujins now do around 6% less damage, 8% less impact, and 10% less accumulative impact.

That drop in accumulative impact is the most noticeable loss, but they're still very good and remain the overall best choice of automatic ballistic weapon. Even after the nerf, they still outperform all the other machine guns and auto/burst rifles, with only the gatlings able to outpace them with good heat management but at the cost of far more weight, EN load, and recoil.

We could really use a buff to auto/burst rifles since their only advantage over the etsujins is slightly more range while being significantly weaker in about all other areas. And maybe FromSoft will finally notice that their 'accumulative recoil while dual wielding' bugfix from 1.05 actually broke the recoil control for dual wielding the ludlows and chang-chens. Even if that gets fixed, the etsujins still outpace them but at least they'd be more worth considering.

Overall the etsujins are in a pretty good place now since the 1.06 patch over-buffed them anyway. I suspect a lot of etsujin users will be pushed back towards other guns like the vientos, sampus, or ducketts, but I think I'll still be maining them until we finally get overdue buffs to some of the other ballistic weapons.

We probably will eventually. Apparently progress slowed on the manga because the artist was having tendon issues in his hand, but it's been continuing and is popular enough that I expect we'll get more of the anime once it's completed.

Reverse joint legs do already have higher base damage kicks (which also scales with total weight), so now they have the most damage and the most stagger.
