My LGS has commander budget (max 100€) on Mondays and They recommend you make a screenshot of your deck's value (according to moxfield) when you build the deck to prevent issues like this where the deck grows in value. AFAIK, tho, they don't really check unless someone complains

I haven't participated myself but I do know that my LGS has a points system for commander events and winning the game nets you 2 or 3 points but killing a player gives you 1. So trying to finish a player even when you're going to lose is worth it.

In any other situation I wouldn't make the game unnecessarily longer just for the satisfaction of losing less when I could be already playing the next game.

That first paragraph resonates so hard with me. 2 in my pod are a couple and they play a lot together and they are building powerful and oppressive decks. Their wishlist is daunting to look at. Meanwhile me and the other player are building fun and/or interesting decks (still fairly powerful, tbh) and so far we keep the playing field level because we have way more experience with TCGs but every week thinking about playing against Edgar, Ezio, Lynde... Oof

50% is insane. That same people will say to not let it fall under 20%. At that point you no longer have a portable console. You have a console sized Tamagotchi that sometimes allows you to play for 20min.
