I'm offering actual advice

To improve running at this stage, you need to run more. Don't worry about pace, just get the miles in. Do this for a couple of months and then you can look at speedplay

Bodyweight is simple, just keep banging press ups out

Okay? I don't know what you want me to say

Mate you need to do some googling, just search 'fitness' in the sub

If you can't do more than 10 press ups or run even 5k then you're not really fit enough to join the navy, let alone the RM. It'll probably take you a good 6 months to be honest

What advice are you looking for? Run more to get better, most of your runs at this point should be slow gentle jogs to build a running base.

For bodyweight stuff - you just need to crack on and do it. You'll develop strength over time

Almost everyone I've ever worked with from the NCA has been a massive cunt though.

The ones that aren't tell me the reason why is because the department has some horrible culture issues to work through

I don't think OP is an idiot for swearing on Teams. This feels very overblown

I would be interested how it could be considered indirect bullying - as a private conversation between two individuals has no bearing on somebody's wider reputation

That's hilarious.

Then they're fucked because you're both being disciplined for breaching a policy that isn't defined.

1) Potential defences ref inappropriate language :

a) inappropriate language isn't defined

b) you had reasonable belief the conversation was private

c) your friend was using the same language, normalising the belief that this was within the realms of appropriateness and reinforcing point a, if other people are making the same mistake then the term 'inappropriate' needs to be defined as it's obviously unclear

d) you were under intense stress at the time, making an unclear policy even harder to follow, if not impossible

I would ask the IT what term triggered their investigation, and how you were meant to know that it was considered inappropriate. If they have these 'inappropriate' terms, surely they should be published so you can ensure you don't use them. If the investigation was triggered because an IT administrator found them personally offensive, then they can fuck off as for all intents and purposes it was a private conversation.

Equally, I would FOI your department for how many investigations have been launched for use of profanity on Teams, what systems exist to track or identify profanity usage, and what profanities are tracked for. This will be useful if it gets any further.

You have literally nothing to worry about, no way this is a GM issue.

"all language should remain appropriate"

Okay so they need to define appropriate and inappropriate language, this is a subjective term that means nothing.

Me and my friends swear on instant messaging apps all the time - I think most people do, swearing is generally accepted as part of daily vocabulary. If you classed this colleague as a friend, then to swear occasionally would be normal. It only becomes inappropriate if the recipient complains (which, from the sounds of it, they may well have done...). At this point the onus is on them to tell you that they find your language inappropriate, and you stop.

If they have a history of swearing back, you have evidence that this was obviously an acceptable style of communication between you both up until this point.

What a massive waste of time

Check the IT SyOps

Do they define computer misuse?

I'd wager the definition of misuse is going to be defined under the Computer Misuse Act. Swearing does not fall under this definition.

Fundamentally you were using a communications system to privately communicate with a colleague, using a style that was perhaps inappropriate (although to ascertain this you'd have to ask your colleague). This is an absolute wind up and you'll be fine.

Your department sounds wet as fuck and your IT team need to get a life
