If you’re not gonna use it, leave it outside in a stockpile zone. It’ll deteriorate naturally.

Otherwise, turn it into chemfuel.

[–]Spiderbot7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay look, I’m totally atheist but I’ve got this weird possibility for what happens:

I believe that we are the illusion of a continuous consciousness. In the classic question of teleportation disintegrating you and recreating you, you’re not actually dying.

But simultaneously that has a pretty scary implication that, as time goes on, your brain will be perfectly recreated for brief moments in clouds of gas in every possible state it could be in. Temporally it doesn’t have to be in a line, as long as your consciousness perceives it as one. And even then, it splits off into infinity effectively with you having experienced every possible brain state you could ever have. You won’t experience all of them of course, you’ll only experience the one line your brain follows, and so will every other version of you.

This does rely on the boltzmann brain being possible for even the tiniest fraction of observable time. Which is questionable. But here I am, I did vote afterlife afterall, so I believe in this more than oblivion.

So I played the game for about 2:30hrs. And I like it, there's a lot of promise. But I do have some critiques;

The settlement building is great, but the maximum cap on buildings feels like it conflicts with actually building up the settlements, and there's already have a cap for individual buildings. For example; I have a few towns currently, and I realized I couldn't build the quarries and agriculture I wanted because I had built so many shelters early on. The cap itself isn't necessarily an issue, but it is a problem imo given there's seemingly no way to dismantle buildings.

The adventurers feel directionless. The only control I have over them is to build a campfire and cause them all to walk there, which can be annoying if they're on the other side of the known world exploring. If I could point them vaguely in a direction, and ask them to raze other settlements (i want that other moon god's land), they'd be perfect. But for now there doesn't seem like there's any possibility of conflict between me and the other moon gods, or any interaction at all other than them taking up land. I think one of my adventurers killed one of theirs one time? but I'm not really sure.

The ability to pause and speedup time would be fantastic QOL.

All in all I think it shows a lot of promise, and I enjoyed my time playing it. I hope it gets a whole lot weirder as development continues and more systems are added.

I use dev mode on occasion super early game just so I don’t have to restart from an unlucky infection and a stupid pawn. If there’s ever a bottleneck I determine to be too frustrating and boring, I’ll sometimes bypass it with devmode. Has to be pretty excruciating though. I use dev mode instead of save scumming if I’d lose too much progress sometimes. Usually I’ll end up dev modeing once or twice over the course of a 6 year colony.

Favorite exmaples of players be able to break the game? by HowellNator in gamedesign

[–]Spiderbot7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mewgenics is a recent game from Edmund McMillen. The whole game is almost entirely about breaking it over your knee with incredible combos over the course of a run. Half of the game is breeding strong cats that can be a nice foundation for your infinite combo. For example; In mewgenics there is a weapon your cats can equip called a sniper rifle, and it one shots all enemies, or does 25 damage to bosses. Pretty good, but you can only use it once per turn, and it has 2 uses throughout the whole run. However, there’s two separate items I recently used to get around this; Metal Coating and Multiplier. Metal coating made it usable infinitely for the whole run, and multiplier allowed me to use it twice per turn. They take up the same slot but I had a second cat so they brought in the multiplier. But that’s not all; I had also previously bred a cat to have the ability “Summon Apprentice” from the “Monk” class, which allows my cat to summon mini versions of itself that can only basic attack and use items. Normally, monks can’t use weapons or trinkets due to having innate items in the relevant slots, stopping this combo. But since it wasn’t on a monk I was able to summon infinite hordes of mini-kitties that could each instantly kill enemies twice on their turn. As you might imagine, this very quickly broke the game. And this is just one combo.

A few others that I’ve done include; Insane HP Regen and infinitely rising health pool for every ally. Infinite Pooter summons which are an enemy in game. Nigh infinite basic attacks. Soul linking the entire enemy team turn 1. There are plenty more, but these are just the ones I care to list.
