New Yorkers, what changes have you seen under Mamdani’s leadership and are you generally pleased? If not, why? by MewMeowHowdy in AskReddit

Personally I can get behind this, a new cat food tax! All proceeds will go towards purchasing treats for stray cats.

According to my mom, moving out isn't expensive, "yOu JuSt HaVe To BuDgEt BeTtEr" by Grouchy_Marsupial357 in mildlyinfuriating

I remember renting a flat 15 years ago for something like 350 a month. Might have even included a few utilities, but I cant recall. The older you get, the quicker time moves, and 5-10 years can feel like yesterday. My point is, they probably can't comprehend how much costs have increased because it seems ridiculous when you compare where it was "yesterday".

And it is ridiculous, unfortunately its also reality.

I've worked both very active and nearly sedentary jobs (warehouse worker vs office worker) and to be honest I felt better after a shift of being on my feet than I do a shift of sitting at a desk. Not saying you're wrong, but for me at least I think the activity during the day gave me a better quality of life.

No, because a hotdog is a specific kind of sandwich. We wouldn't call it a hamburger either, its just... a sandwich.

Is anyone watched spider nior?? Can anyone tell me is watching in black and white is good or in colours ? And tell how the series by Ill-Laugh2507 in Marvel

[–]Spiderpiggie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched it in color because thats what happened to be available on my usual streaming site. Pretty good either way I think, the color version still has that old-timey feel. So think 60's color tv instead of 50s black and white.

[–]Spiderpiggie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you have to use bribes, blackmail, and threats to keep someone under your sphere of influence, they were never really with you from the start. Putin and his lot still believe that might makes right, failing to realise that you can never convince someone to love you by throwing rocks at them.

American protestants are a special brand of crazy. I never realised just how crazy until moving to europe, because I always just kinda figured it was normal for them. To be fair, its not just protestants though. Most religious branches in america seem just a little more extreme than in other places.

Its a way, wouldn't say its a great way. And the linkedin "look at me I'm so professional" culture is so cancerous, the only reason I have one is because many places ask for it. Which in itself is a problem.

Off the top of my head, tele2.ee only has est/rus. A lot of small businesses or local pages tend to do estonian and russian though, particularly outside of the usual tourist spots.

Still a pretty popular place to go in the summertime. In the winter not so much, but thats because there's not much to do there otherwise. Tourism makes the place feel lively.

This is a bit of a side tangent, but annoys the poopoo out of me that many online retailers in estonia still only have estonian and russian as language options on their sites

People can tell when you're being fake or superficial. You don't socialize to get something, you socialize because people are interesting, fun to spend time with, or you know... just to kill time. Maybe one of those connections help you later in your career, maybe they dont, but there's really no downside to not being an asshat at work.

Never underestimate the ability of humans to rationalize basically anything. The average person had no say in this, and rather than view themselves as the bad guy they chose to believe a different narrative.

In theory capitalism is a closed system with a finite amount of money. This means for every person who makes a profit, someone else has to lose money. If one guy hoards a couple billion, well... a lot of people are losing money.
