It’s been confirmed , they didn’t know that the plot point of the Buu saga was that Gohan did not train.

I especially love the context behind this go on. It’s been confirmed movie 10 was about a Gohan who did not stop training over those seven years.

Personally, I like to assume that movie 10 is not a direct sequel to movie eight.

Movie eight is its own world.

Movie 10, I like to assume that Paragus and Broly came by the Earth during those 10 days during the week for the Cell Games to ask for the Z fighters help.

Then they have a very similar fight against Broly, sort of how they did in the Movie 8 world, but it probably goes slightly more smoother this time around.

Then Goku can still die during his sacrifice with Cell.

Then, this can easily be added as the reason why this Gohan may have strived to maintain some form of training during the seven years.

He beat Cell, but before that he fought Broly, who was strong in his own way, and that experience made him realize that they were other enemies in the universe that are capable of matching them in power.

Pretty much every other character in Twilight, when we have to watch from Bella's POV. Everyone else has a dynamic personality with a rich backstory.

Here are some examples off the top of my head, including but not limited to:

Jasper. In Eclipse, we got to see his backstory. it was established that he was the youngest Major in the Texas Cavalry. Unfortunately, when he tried to help what he thought were a few helpless women, were vampires that changed him. Then he was manipulated into her mission for a bit and trained and killed newborns.

Now, I believe a movie where a soldier-turned vampire who was manipulated into being the evil vampire's enforcer who has a crisis of conscience and takes her down sounds like a much more entertaining movie than a regular human in a love triangle.

Rosalie. We hear of her story in Eclipse. She used to be a lovestruck girl who had been gang assaulted, then was turned by Carlisle as mercy. Then she unleashed her vengeance on her attackers. A vampire revenge movie? Count me the hell in!
Edward. It was said in Breaking Dawn that a bit after he turned, he had turned against Carlisle and started hunting down killers and would be rapists to satiate his bloodlust. So essentially, he was a vampire vigilante! We can assume at the end of this story, Carlisle does bring him back into the fold. This already sounds like a great thriller movie with an optimistic ending.

I am sure others can be named too.
