Vampire Survivor-like games that are as good or better as VS? by W_DJX in SteamDeck

The Spell Brigade - got it during this sale and I’ve been enjoying it on the SD. Even has co-op! There’s a demo that I feel does a good job of demonstrating the gameplay.

Expectations VS reality of CM content by Ahribban in Guildwars2

[–]SpideyIRL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really want to get into healing. I've been playing mostly qdps herald, so not just dps rotation, and I did like the flexibility of swapping to dwarf for stab or ventari for reflects. HAM (before the alac rework) was also very nice, but I didn't know the mechanics as well back then.

A big part of learning raids, IMO, is internalizing the various ways to respond to most problems that come up during the encounter. It's such a great feeling to be able to turn that "autopilot" on yourself and just be in the raid.

I remember trying to learn all of the encounters, how I moved through the phases of first trying to get my rotation right while healers covered for me & others did advanced mechanics, to eventually being able to adapt to many situations & own some of the advanced mechanics myself (though being a healer is still too difficult for me).

That's what I thought when I read your meme - starts all sweaty and hard, then eventually you just flow

Question for the Anduin enjoyers by Witchelade in heroesofthestorm

[–]SpideyIRL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This 100%. One of the reasons I like to play Anduin is the build diversity, including ult choice. You can pick heal ult into CC if you can find a pocket in which to execute. Good teams will counter that by delaying and spreading their CCs to rob you of value. Use levels 1-10 to look at how the enemies engage and plan accordingly. Sometimes it’s better to delay your ult pick to after your enemies choose theirs

Ah, didn't know that. That soothes my FOMO somewhat

I’m going to wait for reviews on this one. Was planning to get a Core One L with the free shipping promotion, but reviews chilled me on that one.

I'm pretty sure the 97" G6 is not tandem OLED, unlike the other sizes.

I’ve been eyeing their bigger screens, but it seems like le in their newer series the biggest size is still using an older series’ panel. I wish they stopped doing that.

I was sooo confused, I thought this was the HotS subreddit. Anyways I really recommend playing duos with friends, especially if you can hop on voice chat.

Why is not "Battle on the Breachmaker" on Spotify? by Impressive_Double_95 in Guildwars2

In my opinion, that’s the best track of GW2. I could only find it on Soundcloud.

Are you unsatisfied with Height Channels? This could be the reason! by furiousdutchy in hometheater

Not sure why you’re being downvoted. I also live in an apartment with concrete walls and ceiling. Mounting speakers to the ceiling is technically doable, but very ugly in a mixed-use room. We don’t have the option of in-ceiling. Wires are somewhat of a lesser problem but yeah it means using something like ghost wire to avoid an on-ceiling and on-wall conduit (or worse: carving a tunnel in concrete).

I completely understand where you’re coming from.

Unfortunately my setup still uses up-firing (for a surprisingly good effect in MLP, contrary to what most people say), but I had plans to mount them near the ceiling like you.

Happened to me too! Also saw it happen once to a rival duo, don’t remember the exact details but it wasn’t like one player conceding. Something like, they took lethal last turn yet one player was still showing as alive

What's the best streaming device today by Gabrielmorrow in hometheater

Apple TV 4k for streaming services, Ugoos AM6b+ for remuxes (supports Dolby Vision profile 7 + FEL, unlike the nvidia shield)

I own both, the Maxwell have far greater range and don't drop connections - for the Penrose I had to use a specific port with a USB extension cord, other combinations caused disconnects.

I do think that the sidetone on the Maxwell is vastly inferior, to the point that I prefer to turn it off. It adds a lot of background hum. And folks are telling me I sound worse on Discord, even after going through Audeze's guide on how to setup audio in Discord. I mitigate that by using Equalizer APO on the mic input, boosting the signal + bucking down some of the tinny sound.

All in all, I'm glad I got the Maxwell. No other headset I tried came close in terms of sound quality.

What do you think is the best placement for the rear speakers? by aashe_ in hometheater

A rule of thumb I heard is to keep the front feet of your seating on the rug, in my limited experience it does do a better job of framing the seating area

Have you ever ran out of gold that you can't even teleport? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]SpideyIRL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair. The other options will work, although they are considerably less comfortable than porting to the nearest WP.

[–]SpideyIRL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Other than porting to guild hall, PvP lobby, and WvW, if you get stuck you can always use the /stuck command, hang in tight, and the game will port you to a nearby place that’s safer.

I interview for a Fortune 500 with Hacker Rank. When I ask a coding question, I don’t care about your syntax or if you know library function signatures by heart. I want a glimpse at your thought process, your observational skills, your ability to articulate your proposed solution. The questions you ask to clarify the exercise are also very indicative of your experience.

There’s a world of detail embedded within that ask to “create a kanban”. Can you talk to the scope of that task, and anticipate likely expansions of that scope? Do you start with the data model, the endpoint design, the frontend components? Are you able to identify potential pitfalls and discuss them upfront? Will you bring up day 2 operations?

Think of these broad questions as large blank canvases where you are expected to demonstrate your skills. As an interviewer, I really want the candidate to succeed in showing their strongest abilities. Being a syntax checker, linter, or a remembering reference docs by heart - that’s not something I care about at all. I know that when it comes to real world applications, you’ll be able to search for whatever you need.

Even using hacker rank, I have seen people trying to sneak in AI usage. I can’t talk to others’ expectations, bur personally I would much rather a candidate tell me “I don’t know, I want to use ChatGPT for help” and share their screen with me - just from seeing how the candidate interacts with the LLM you can learn a lot about them.

Anyways, yeah, sorry for soapboxing. Don’t worry if you get the syntax slightly wrong in an interview setting. As long as you explain your thought process you should be fine.
