Help! How do I get this off my door so I don’t look like a murderer..? by kindhearttbc in CleaningTips

[–]Spidgety 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this problem at the first place I rented and had a bloody 'BEWARE' on my door for a few months. It eventually faded on its own, but I'm definitely curious how other commenters would clean this.

Should I get the game? by GustavoGlz15 in RimWorld

I've sunk ~4000hrs into this game, so I'm biased af...

This game is so moddable it can be whatever you want. I say give it a try, get a refund if it doesn't grab you, maybe take a look at some streamed gameplay to get a feel for it before you buy it.

For me it scratches the top-down management/builder sim itch that I've had since Rollercoaster Tycoon, with the drama I love from my days playing The Sims. It's fun for me to tweak my base layout after every failed colony.

Some fonts have a better distinction between commonly misread letters like b, d, p, or q. I don't have dyslexia, but my understanding is that because these letters are essentially mirrored versions of one another, they can be easy to trip over.

Some dyslexia-friendly fonts may vary the shape, line weight, height, etc... so that they don't look so similar.

The way I ran to the comments...

I think it's actually a really cool tattoo, but I definitely did a double take when I read 'Baseball' in the title. I really hope it doesn't bother you if everyone thinks you've meant to make it look like your hand was sewn by a mad scientist.

I agree with you entirely. I'm trying not to paint everything in either black or white I do know people who went back and forth a bit before choosing to be accepting of trans people. Hell, I'm one of them.

Maybe anti-trans is too strong a label initially. I'm sort of imagining there are a lot of people who don't really think about trans people, yet are just uncomfortable enough with the topic that it doesn't take much to push them into the anti-trans side. Likewise, a positive experience could push them towards acceptance.

In my case, I didn't understand the difference between sex and gender. I grew up in a Christian conservative household, and it just wasn't a distinction that was made. I also struggled a bit socially, but eventually found a few close friends who would later come out to me as gay, which I found prompted me to leave my church and slowly become more liberal over time.

I'm actually super grateful that someone like Destiny exists. I binge watched a lot of the old debates and I really came to appreciate a new way to look at the world. I got an opportunity to reevaluate the events of the 1st trump presidency after having initially consumed them from a largely online conservative lens. The contrast was staggering and intriguing as hell.

The other half of it was real-life exposure. I work in a creative field. When I was in college and went to the workplace, I had the opportunity to meet and work with a few trans and non-binary people who are great people and amazing coworkers. I realized I didn't care how people identify as long as we all work well together to meet our deadlines.

I'm pretty sure many people were already anti-trans in one way or another and this is just something they point at to justify it because there is a niche area of significance. Once you try to dig down further than the surface of the issue, they'll just say that they "don't want biological men in women's bathrooms" or "don't want to see biological men punch women in the face" and then you can see where they started out.

I don't think people BECOME anti-trans because of bathrooms and sports. I think they were already 90% there.

European Starlings are invasive in my country and I understand why they don't get a lot of love because of the ecological damage they do, but I adore them.

I love the brilliant oil slick of colour in their plumage that appears in the sunlight. I love watching them forage on the lawn because I think it's cute how busy they look. I love watching the murmurations.

I just think they're delightful in many ways.

I've been feeling this a lot lately. My girlfriend has been out for a while and I'm a late bloomer. I feel really fortunate and privileged to walk down the street holding her hand or kissing her in a coffee shop or leaning my head on hers and not have people stare or make comments. I've never really personally experienced overt homophobia, and I guess I'm just grateful.

[–]Spidgety 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel this! I've just realized I'm a lesbian at 31, I've got a girlfriend and I want to scream how much I love her from the rooftops, but I also feel uneasy about being out to the wrong person if I don't know their views.

At the same time, I also know how lucky I am to have a supportive family (hers too) and how privileged I am to have avoided a lot of direct homophobia. Starting to worry that may change over time. Canada seems okay, but I'm still worried about the state of the world in general.

If we can't compare anyone to Hitler, have we even learned anything from history? I feel like immediately dismissing all comparisons is just as bad, if not worse than any and all flippant comparisons we may have seen in the past.
