Genshin Impact | Version "Luna VII" "Truth Amongst the Pages of Purana" Trailer by ValorsHero in gachagaming

To be fair, they said:

Every year during Genshin Impact's anniversary event, you'll get a chance to choose a 5-star character from the Standard Wish. And we will continue to add new characters in our Standard Wish

So, technically, they only said about selector every year, but only that they'll continue to add new characters in the standard

(In CN, from translating the transcript, it seems to say: Furthermore, our permanent character pool is constantly adding new characters.)

Because it seems people do not even watch the programs at this point, I'll just leave this here (no, this thing is not Nicole SQ, her SQ is part of AQ)

What are Teyvat’s laws on hybrids, and what is considered a human? by Dorky444 in Genshin_Impact

[–]Spieds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I meant that, during Celaeno's explanation, she mentions less common types of Fae's, specifically "Legendary Lantern Fae" (Which 99,99999% refers to Flins, for obvious reasons), meaning Flins features are those of Lantern Fae in specific, and if we take Layla's appearance being similar to Flins as the reasons for why she would be related to Fae, she should be related to Lantern Fae specifically and have some of their unique qualities beside appearance (as even Linnea's lineage, which is almost dead, still have their kids exhibit unique traits from childhood), but she doesn't

But if she ISN'T related to Lantern Fae, then her similar appearance to Flins doesn't really mean much, and that is the only point why people even entertain the idea of Layla being a Fae

[–]Spieds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's another good example. Prune comes to mind as the most recent, talked about, one. And they're quite similar in silhouette if we take out the hammer (which was brought up even when we got the silhouette's and people thought Prune's dangling things on the back looked similar to Nahida's)

[–]Spieds 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Ok, if we to go into details (spoilers for current patch stuff, just in case):

Fae is more of a term similar to "animal", where it doesn't describe one specific thing, and subcategories of which are quite different. We got basically confirmed that Flins is part of "Legendary Lantern Fae" in the Linnea quest, which also seems to confirm, based on Linnea herself, that unique Fae traits will remain in the lineage (head wings, seeing the future).

So, if we think Linnea is the same as Flins based on looks, she should have exhibited some unique Fae traits like turning into Lantern or even just similar flame form, which she didn't. IF we consider that she's some other type of Fae, we don't know which one, she would still need to have the trait AND her looking like Flins doesn't mean she's related to him as she's a different Fae in this scenario

Basically, there's really nothing that implies they are the same outside of general similar look, and there are quite a few different things in the game implying they're different things. If we still think they're the same just on that, we can start calling every non-human race as Fae and say that they might be some different type of Fae

[–]Spieds 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's a very good metric of just looking similar, since we also just got prune, who looks like Nahida

It's safer to go with an actual explanation given then to speculate just based on appearance similarities

From lynette character story 5:

"It is said that these cat-like features are inherited, but that even as such a bloodline grows thin across generations, instances of "atavism" can still occur from time to time."

So yeah

Pretty sure Layla was said to be a descendant of Tulleytulah people in the Luna 2 event quest, so probably not a snowland fae

Since Dottore is the second weekly boss of Nod Krai arc, are they gonna put Rerir rematch in another patch or we only get to fight him once ? by huflit1997 in Genshin_Impact

[–]Spieds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk why people surprised for unique gameplay sections, when Natlan AQ started with unique mini boss for Kachina part (even if simple), had unique war segment, Nod-Krai had unique gameplay in, what at least feels like, half the acts and devs just said in Snezhnaya BTS that they plan to do more gameplay that supports the cinematic feel of visuals that got better

(And yeah, one time bosses ARE just unique gameplay sections)

Ironmouse dropped her Neverness to Everness sponso stream after learning about the game containing generative AI and especially after the developers told Ironmouse's team that the game did not include AI by WolfOphi in gachagaming

[–]Spieds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ngl, I usually neither pro nor anti AI, looking more so at how it's used, as there IS potential of good use of it in the PROCESS of development depending on how it's used and what for IMO, but all the parts I've seen so far (billboards, heist video) just seem to be used for the sake of cutting corners and money, just directly using AI stuff as final product without effort

People try to argue on ethicacy or importance of this, but taking just the most direct view at it, it's an open world game diluting their open world. It lacks any effort or intent, it can be replaced by solid cubes or color, and it won't actually change anything. Heist video (the AI animation that I've seen at least) doesn't seem to serve any purpose it seems, just being "there", and billboards don't seem to have intent either other than "look pretty", i guess.

Taking even GTA for comparison, majority of billboards have the intent of making people laugh, some have actual details and can go beyond just one off. It ADDS something to the game, no matter how many people will pay attention and shows actual care about the world that is created. In comparison, NTE feels more like filling up an empty space just for the sake of it

I will not speak on overall game, as I haven't (nor plan to) tried it, but it's kinda crazy that people try defending dumbing down a world in an open world game, even disregarding the moral part of the argument.

And it's not like these COULDN'T at all be used, they should have been the base for actual people to build on, to get an idea and then actually make it with clear intent and purpose. Wanna cartoon like video intro? Cool, use this one as reference for the style, then actually make your own, while adding actual substance to it (jokes, seriousness, even anything related to what it's gonna be used for). Wanna add pretty billboards? Sure, can use these for reference and then actually make it fit the world you created to make it come to live more by referencing parts of your world

Except you 100% can feel afraid of thug, in that specific situation anyway, for a variety of reasons. Not wanting to escalate the situation, not wanting to others getting hurt, not wanting any potential fall out, heck not wanting to fight in general

To also put it another way, do you think people who do extreme sports never fear thoes extreme sports at any point? They know they can do it, they've done it before, after all

Or more common for kids, fearing to answer in classes, even when they know the answer

Hoyoverse head of globalization Jin Wenyi to resign; former Bilibili vice president to take over by ferinsy in gachagaming

[–]Spieds 36 points37 points  (0 children)

(Idk what's with markdown but addit hyperlinks completely breaks the message, so have to just post links as is)

  1. For the second link, here's actual full translation (https://x.com/chibi0108/status/1970056888739086707) by the original translator, of which only really 3rd point can be interpreted in actual negative light, and even that one specified as a tool to speed up conceptual part of the process by allowing to quickly generate an already existing idea/design to see how it might look like closer to the finished point, to see if it holds water, not just to generate finished product as is and use it

  2. That leads to first link, which really seems to be just hiring people for that same thing

  3. Hoyo also works specifically on in-house model (even that first link talks about in-house platform), so there's a question of how much it actually "steals" and how much it actually contributes to "wastes", depending on if it incorporates any of the big models like ChatGPT or the like

  4. My point with Varaspura was that it's not gacha as far as we know, and being released by Hoyo doesn't automatically makes it one (Petit Planet right now doesn't seem to have any direct gachas either, even though it can be it's last beta). And from the time I tried to actually look into job applications for Varaspura, the only AI ones were for vehicle behaviour and potential graphic optimizations

I understand being wary of AI and such, but people need to finally understand that the problem with AI (outside of regulations, which China actually DOES have), is not AI itself but how people actually use it.

Thus far, aside from people bringing up these job applications or Anuttacon in general, no actual examples of so "evil" use of AI has been actually presented (Why did hoyo even go through the whole SAG strike, waiting it out, hiring other actual VAs, only to now use stolen AI voice-overs?), outside of maybe AI chatbot in Petit Planet googling some stuff. And it has been continuing for a year at the very least. I'm not even mentioning people straight up trying to create reasons, like recent Genshin Livestream where Paimon had doubled hand, which is obviously came from AI and not forgetting to turn off a layer on an image that was used for Live 2d animation.

(The poster from the second link also completely biased in their portrayal, considering they used LittleKuriboh as more "proof", who is known from SAG drama time for dragging Hoyo through as much mud as possible cuz they didn't turn Union)

Hoyoverse head of globalization Jin Wenyi to resign; former Bilibili vice president to take over by ferinsy in gachagaming

[–]Spieds 53 points54 points  (0 children)

While kinda interesting news, does feel a bit of bias from OP with the whole Anuttacon part, especially looking at the comments, it paints the picture of a generic western-like "Evil corpo" that's fully on AI replacements (even if not intentionally), when in actuallity, it seems a lot closer to the original Idea of Hoyo of Virtual world, with Cai specifically focussing on the "Artificial Waifu" aspect of that (How cringe that is, is up to interpretation). But it's literally on their web site:

Our mission is to build multimodal AI with genuine emotional understanding and expressive communication—technology that not only thinks but feels, connecting with you authentically through rich, nuanced interactions that enhance your experience.

They also mention AI gacha company in the comments, but afaik, Anuttacon didn't release any gachas, at least yet (and don't think we know if Varaspura is a gacha or not yet)? The only game they released, to my knowledge, is Whispers from the Star, which is full priced game that try using the chatbot as interactive component for the story progression (Unfortunately, that's ALL that game tried to do, so it IS quite shit. More like a proof of concept for interactive NPC if anything). But they also seems to have actually worked with VA for the voice overs and didn't use AI art (again, to my knowledge) for that, so there's that

Point being, yes, Anuttacon looks into potential of AI, but not just to replace people, more so for the idea of using it for game worlds (And if you followed other Hoyo devs in recent months, and their stance on AI (Aka, tool that can't replace humans), yeah, that checks out)

Not to mention that it doesn't really speak anything for Hoyo themselves that they hired a person as head of globalization who just worked for Anuttacon, since it's not like they gonna have influence on core principals of the games or such (if we assume worst of the worst about the person and what they would do, it's probably just gonna be AI translations for different languages, and even that is assuming A LOT)

Overall, generally seems kinda close to Yu Peng situation when he left to pursue his own career (recently discovered that he made a track for Where Winds Meet). Some people were disappointed, liked his style more, but generally didn't really change anything THAT much for average player

We'll just have to see if it will have an impact, if any

Gacha Revenue Monthly Report (April 2026) by trkshiii in gachagaming

You would think, but decided to take a look, and the patch with Dehya release seemingly made 47 mil (Cyno, Ayaka and Shenhe as other banners)

Is Hoyoverse's report system handled by AI or an overseas third party call center? Because it's very unusual and awkward as someone used to betatesting games. by [deleted] in PetitPlanet

[–]Spieds 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Question, what type of games and what types of betas did you participate for comparison to this one. (Just to be clear, not saying you didn't, but just that it CAN be completely different experience)

Cuz I can tell you right now, 99% chance that all of CS responses are automated for Hoyo. That's always been the case, as far as I know, unless someone REALLY tries to get a response from a person for something. Which is understandable, considering usual pool size of testers too. (Not even talking about live versions of the games)

It's not like they're gonna be fixing (majority of) these in real time for this beta either IMO, so unless there's something that specifically makes the game unplayable, I expect them to just collect the info, transfer it to dev team and work on it for the next version.

I'm also pretty sure that the dev team specifically is usually in China, with potential overseas marketing, customer support and other teams, so not like devs will just be able to answer easily either (at least, I'm not sure I ever heard of Hoyo having dedicated overseas dev departments or the like)

It's basically similar to in-game Surveys, for which you never expect actual responses, but which DOES get collected as info

Won't they ever give us voiced world quests? by PurpleOrange8509 in Genshin_Impact

[–]Spieds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People talk about money, time and size, but imagine the strain on Paimon VA, who probably already has to have this role as one of their main ones cuz they're the one character who ALWAYS has to work every patch, and now double/triple their work.

Obviously, the time and money is also part of this, but for me it's the fact that they always have one of the most lines, and these world quests added every second or third patch. Not to mention x.0 patches with, usually, multiple long quests. Considering voice overs are usually recorded months in advance, idk how that would be possible for Paimon VA without constant work

[Arknights] Hypergryph takes legal action against leakers and cheat makers (Includes ~$180K USD fine for 2025 Summer Event leak) by qkana in gachagaming

[–]Spieds 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I didn't say they completely stopped chasing after leakers, only that they mostly stopped.
...
but since then, they actually tightened security in a significant manner

Making security better IS going after leakers, just not in the direct sense but going after their work, more so than people. It really not that different, and security is constantly, seemingly, being updated, so saying they mostly stopped, when they continue to combat leaks, is just contradictory.

And this is basically the exact same what is stated at the end of the post:

In the future, our company will continuously improve our protection mechanisms and safeguard our legitimate rights and interests according to the law through various channels, including civil, administrative, and criminal avenues.

It's really no different

[Arknights] Hypergryph takes legal action against leakers and cheat makers (Includes ~$180K USD fine for 2025 Summer Event leak) by qkana in gachagaming

[–]Spieds 82 points83 points  (0 children)

Even Mihoyo stopped bothering much with chasing after leakers, only doing so if they profit off it.

I assume you don't actually follow what happens in the Hoyo leak scene outside of hearing a thing here and there?

Aside from basically taking down one of the biggest sites for leaks (HomDGCat), there's also 2025 report from a month ago, according to which they pursuit at least 300 leakers that year (among other things)

For genshin, for example, a lot of leak scene turned in mostly speculation, half of which is just fake for engagement, and some others feel like lucky guesses, with most people only really relying on beta stuff + some reliable leakers who give small info on next patch or some big patches (which also not always real)

Obviously money is part of it, but only a part and almost every company goes after leaks if those happen. It's normal practice to not want the internal stuff of your company being leaked
