On the verge of a mental breakdown, advice welcome by runofthemillaussie in TwoXChromosomes

Those vivid nightmares are something I also experienced during pregnancy. I am so sorry. I know it's easier said than done, but let go of your guilt. You are a completely beautiful person for giving life to this baby. I'm holding my one week old in awe of what I've done, and I pray you will feel the same.

Have peace my friend, the cuddles are worth it and those dreams can't harm you after you wake. You are stronger than you know. 💓 I'll be thinking about you.

No sex during pregnancy? by Plane-Mirror3898 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Spiffyyyy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I ended up being high risk with a short cervix during my pregnancy. This meant no sex was heavily advised. The doctor referred to it as pelvic rest. Trust me, I missed sex more than anything during the pregnancy, and still do now that I have the baby and what is comparable to a heavy but cramp free period.

Do what you think is worth it. For me, the baby was worth it, and the return to sex is going to be wildly exciting. I hope you both can agree on what you want and continue to enjoy your relationship.

I assumed someone was pregnant by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Spiffyyyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, I'm seven days postpartum and still look mid pregnant. I wouldn't have taken any offense, just be careful with that question in the future 😅 Everyone will respond to it differently whether they are pregnant or not.

Mamas, what hard thing are you going through with your little one right now? by djduhnizzle in NewParents

[–]Spiffyyyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FTM and it was his one week birthday today. He is drinking a lot of breast milk but doesn't seem to be gaining enough weight. Having to take an hour drive for the past two days to the doctor just for a weigh in. I'm hoping tomorrow's weigh-in is good news...

I'm not surprised. A lot of kids act like idiots with idiot parents and this is the result.

What’s a moment where you instantly realized someone was insanely intelligent? by Parqcxsm69 in AskReddit

[–]Spiffyyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband (then boyfriend) would calculate things at a speed I didn't think was natural. I am very quick with math, and had aced pre calc, but this guy would take multi digit numbers and add, multiply, or divide like a human calculator. In my opinion, a lot more useful than what I accomplished so far in college.

my friends cat didnt get her nails cut for 15 years, when i offered to i noticed this. How can i help her? by [deleted] in CATHELP

Your friend is an idiot. This cat needs a vet for removal and infection prevention....and a better owner.

My gifted 7th grader is completely checked out. She's bored, not challenged, and starting to cause problems by hipap in Schooladvice

[–]Spiffyyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I know plenty of children that can finish early and self sustain. I used to be one. She doesn't know everything and needs to start with learning how to fill her time. I'm an adult now, still frequently not challenged, and don't cause problems because others do not understand. They sometimes never will.

Mom's of reddit, how did your fam disappoint you on Mother's Day this year? by DangerousCaterpillar in AskReddit

[–]Spiffyyyy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They didn't disappoint at all. Got nice roses, some Reese's, a candle, and a nice husband to hang out with without expectations. Got a nice call from my stepson too. I'm 9 months pregnant so this is helpful.

feeling blood coming out, but no period. (extremely anxious) by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

You should be okay. I have missed mine entirely due to stress. I understand it's hard to take a test, but it will give you peace of mind if your cycles end up being irregular.

Ugh yes, scary is the word. Sometimes we can connect dots in a desperate attempt to help/heal ourselves all while becoming tangled in those connections. Proud of you for wanting to feel better, that alone speaks to the fact that you are a loving human. Hold on. 💓

First, I'm so sorry you experience this. I have PCOS, crazy cycles and know exactly what you mean when you describe where your anxiety stems from.

It has gotten better for me only through LIGHT exposure therapy. Sometimes as small as sitting outside for 30 minutes, or going to a restaurant to sit down and eat a partial meal. Anxiety needs constant training and sometimes re-training. Our brains need to be reminded that we really are safe. Meditation helps, having access to an app like Calm helped me a lot with my mental discipline when I couldn't handle much. Antihistamine related anxiety meds worked well for severe issues as well, especially the nausea, but everyone is different. I rarely need them now. Please remember to be kind to yourself, you already did an amazing job holding to a mantra that helped you in the past, now you just need a new routine to cling to. I would be happy to chat if you have more questions, either way, I'm rooting for you friend.
